Great analysis. I really like these type of comparisons. By contrasting two similar looking shows it really drives home the strengths and flaws of each. And I agree, the use of the Mirror was really a great moment.
bubububut Goblin Slayer has problematic themes and episode 1 scared me away, also >insert big anituber here< says “Goblin Slayer bad” so your point is therefore: invalid. (jk lol.) big fan of Goblin Slayer and when I heard about Mandalorian and saw the trailers for it, you best believe I was hyped for it, but with each passing episode releasing, I could feel the show wasting its potential, from lacklustre plots, bad writing and eventually just empty fanservice (since I didn’t watch the cartoons, none of the expanded universe characters invoked any emotional response within be besides “oh neat it’s that girl from the 3D animated prequel thing?”) and mild enjoyment devolved into “ok let’s see how dumb this episode is, at the very least it’s gotta be entertaining” leading to one of the most unearned endings between (SPOILERS?) Manda and Grogu saying goodbye, I felt nothing, because it felt like they didn’t do enough for the two characters (but let’s be honest, Grogu is just a living plot device with ex machina powers meant to sell merch) to deserve what I imagine to be an emotional “oh no, they gotta say goodbye, am so sad am crying nuuu” ending. Mandalorian doesn’t get critiqued enough and I think you hit the nail on the head with how it failed on many ways, been watching your content for a little over a week now and I really enjoy your stuff, keep the vids coming!
While the second season wasn't marvellous (honestly I'd agree with your sentiment about that), the first had quite a lot of promise and utilised many effective strategies to kill goblins. Including elements from fantasy that have never been used. Had they used the first season as a means to introduce the world and characters in order to kickstart a far greater plot, Goblin Slayer would've remained incredibly memorable. As it stands however, the series is meanderingly going in circles.
... I now can't unsee the similarities. Yay?
I love your reviews of anime. It feels like an outsider looking in and making an honest evaluation.
Thanks. I'm glad you enjoy them

Great vid! Your channel is seriously underrated.
Thanks. I've only recently started making videos so I understand it's gonna take time for it to grow.
I also made this connection, no wonder i love mandalorian so much because of its similarities to goblin slayer. But GS is better.
Someone get this man on efap
I'm a big fan of EFAP, really enjoyed watching book of boba fett on it.
@@dlfarmer7601 yeah I noticed, really hope you can get on the panel one day
Bad take Mandolorian Season 1 was and still is the best thing to ever come out Disney+
Clone wars season 7.
Read the mang of goblin slayer he shows much more emotions there
Is that better? Because he's supposed to be reclusive.
@@dlfarmer7601 Well he's still reclusive but shows more emotions.
Like sadness, genuine happiness and slowly opens up
@@stuckerfan2563 okay. Maybe its over a longer period in the manga. Either way they did a great job on the anime
Sadly this season doesn't fare any better. Luckily though supposedly there is a season 2 of Goblin Slayer coming out in the fall of 2023.
Idk man, Goblin Slayer is a nothing burger of an anime. Very forgettable 😵
