Can I just say... If this were my husband, I would set up my own small but comfortable corner in his work shop and watch him save beautiful furniture all day. You do an incredible job, and you do it with care, being careful not cause unnecessary damage to the wood. I just found this channel but I will be keeping watch for it.
I thought that true craftsmanship was lost long ago. It's truly inspiring to watch you work. In an age of pressboard, plywood, and IKEA furniture it's a real pleasure watching beautiful real wood furniture come back to life again. Bravo!
The wood is stunning after all the sanding, repairing and the toning process. I’ve never seen that before. The wood went into this large plastic bags and you place some kinda liquid in the containers in with the wood pieces, sealed the bag shut. Then like magic the wood was a different colour 😲. This table is so beautiful 🤩
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Wish that people would see the value in these old pieces! They CAN BE RESTORED with a little help. Great Job!!!!!
My grandfather was an old-fashioned carpenter. He taught me to work with wood as soon as I was old enough to learn. I can say with no fear of contradiction that he would have been thrilled to his bones to see you work. I bumped into your channel strictly by accident. You can be absolutely certain I will be back. Thank you so much for posting this wonderful window on your talent.
Absolutely stunning. My father was a carpenter and joiner and I used to watch him restoring things just after the Second World War. The only thing missing was the smell of your workshop.
You used dowels!!! You saved the furniture from the nails, and I bet it thanks you, and I know that I do! What a beautiful table you restored! You have a new subscriber!
Beautiful restoration and video series! Very helpful to watch the entire process and gain a better understanding of what goes into a restoration. Thank you for posting!
WOW OH WOW, One of the best restorations I have seen. You are a master craftsman. I would love a gorgeous piece of furniture like that. Well done Sir, well done!🥰. You know that Jesus was a carpenter. He would be so proud of you🙏🏼.
The way you work is simply a hypnotic reflex ! You are an amazing Master ! 👍 and subscribe to your channel ! And I really like that you use wood fasteners rather than iron nails !
Your painstaking removal of all those nails and filling the holes with plugs--you have upgraded this piece of furniture from how it was originally made. Nice finished product--well done!
Labor/detail intensive job in restoring a table to wnat is probably what is better looking than when it was first bought. Craftsmanship at its finest. Bravo!
At first I thought 'why', it seemed so ordinary, not worth the work THEN I saw what you did, not only saving something but giving it new life and a better life ! Well done, looking forward to following you xo
I've been looking forward to part 2 and it was even better than I hoped ... absolutely stunning ... that's it sorted for another 100 years (at least). I've never heard of 'toning', so will need to look into that! Thank you so much for taking us on this journey.
@@capedwonder2833 that's hard to say from watching this video. However, when I use ammonia fuming I just keep checking the oak pieces until they're dark enough (but do be careful with the bad fumes). And if you use a scrap piece of oak you can test the process out to see if the result is to your liking. Once done you can go straight to assembly and finishing.
@@JoshuaCatchur yes, I couldnt make out what he was doing, either. I rewound and watched a few times. Now I know. Thankyou to the people who explained.
Excellent! I thought I knew how to do things like ammonia fuming, but hey, you just saved me spending real money on dowels. I never thought of making them like that.
Your attention to detail is excellent, I found it very therapeutic watching your work. You really made an excellent job showcasing the grain in the table top great job👏👏👏
This is so beautiful - not only the table itself, but the care and effort taken to bring it back from an early demise. This table could last 500 years. I hope it does.
Just discovered your channel and enjoyed this video very much. I am beginning restoration of an oak dresser and you helped me resolve some issues. Look forward to watching more.
What a beautiful piece of furniture.I cant believe it was assembled with nails.Your reassembly was done the way it should have been done originally.Great job!!!!
Beautiful restoration I love you keep the old legs and design and color. I have seen some people while restoring change color and put modern legs and I really hate that. During the video I was praying that he should keep those beautiful legs and you did Great work.
Another fine job. Really enjoyed this restoration project. It turned out great. I’ve never toned before and would like for you to do a video explaining how this works.
Ammonia fuming, I assume. I have to say, at first I didn't like the dull grey tone of that beautiful warm oak, BUT after the oil wax was applied, I had to admit this was the way to go. Nicely done.
Another beautiful piece of furniture, I actually really like these restoration video's. And great to see you use the ammonia fuming technique. I've used that in a couple of projects myself too, together with rusty steel wool desolved in vinegar to turn oak black (though this last one you apply with a brush)
You mean you just have to fill those little plastic containers with ammonia and leave them under a plastic tent and they perform that miracle? This is when the word amazing can be justifiably used.
How thrilling to catch up with Part 2 of this restoration. It was amazing to watch your amazing skills & mastery of techniques in action. It is the best restoration of a piece of furniture I have seen. It truly looks like a 'new' table. Congratulations on a magnificent piece of work & great video. Still thinking & praying for you all in Ukraine that your progress will continue in this time of oppression. Cheers, Don from South Aust.
I felt as if that table had been taken to a hospital for major surgery. My eyes got wider and wider watching you work. I don't even know what to say. I learned so much. I've never seen so many different tools in my life. I didn't even know the word for many of them. I wonder what your advice would be to someone wanting to restore that table without all of those tools. Probably make a gift of it to someone like you.😉 I've subscribed to your channel and am going to send your 2 videos to one of my brothers. Thank you. This was beautiful to watch. 🙏

That is one nice planner. I have to say it again, I am impressed with your skills and the way you go about problem solving. I am sure this table was nice and functional when it was new but you brought from ok to Fabulouis.

It's called wood fuming. The liquid is ammonia. The fumes from ammonia darken the wood.
Nice work! The wood in its whole beautiness... and no one nail!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@@andytaylor5476thanks for explaining that coz the video doesn’t
I've never seen or heard of this technique before either. Excellent. How long was the wood inside the bag with the ammonia? Longer == darker??
