That's not a chest of drawers. It's commonly called a 'pot cupboard' and would have been used to hold a chamber pot in a bedroom for nocturnal use in the days when people didn't have indoor sanitation. Americans call it a 'night stand'. It would have had one, possibly two shelves, but no drawers. From the style of it, I'd say it was made possibly late 1800s, early 1900s. Your filming is good but I would have appreciated some on-screen narrative to let us know what you were using and why.
Dude! You are amazing! I start out feeling excitement to see what you're going to do with the piece, then this calming energy takes over as I watch your methodical transformation takes place. It's meditative for me. By the end of the vid I feel like I'VE accomplished the always beautiful end result just by watching!! Thank you for posting...I truly look forward to and enjoy all of your vids!
One of the most sympathetic restorations I've seen. No trendy paint to disguise the flaws just a restore while staying true to the age and history of the piece. Lovely.
Nice restoration. I felt your pain when the saw attacked your finger. I hope it will be ok. Thank you for sharing your skill with us. Best wishes from Down Under 🙂💕🇦🇺.
I really enjoy your restorations. I'm ambivalent about a narrative, because I really appreciate silence in my senior years. And I like thinking about what things you might be using in the process of restoration. Thank you for putting out these videos. I subscribed a few videos ago, and am watching from Ontario, Canada.
By narrative, do you mean like when a guy randomly finds a valuable item in a trash heap on the side of the road? And he happens to have a camera crew with him when he does this? And it happens to be covered in mud for some unexplained reason? And that mud has brush strokes in it for additional unexplained reasons? And things made of plastic are rusty for reasons that defy the basic laws of chemistry?
@@annad5675 It means there are fake restoration videos out there who do things like what I described. And "narrative" is equivalent to fake video. Or more precisely, the BS story told in fake videos concerning where they supposedly found the item to be restored. The maker of this video was just being excessively polite when describing it. It's not that hard to follow what I'm saying if you have ever seen one of these videos. They all do pretty much the same thing.
I'm happy you saw the chest as worth restoring. I would put a large old fashion fern or maiden hair fern on top and be very proud to have that. Well done.
