  • Hi all and welcome back to the channel. On this one we have the chinese mini digger out helping me lift some heavy Beech firewood rounds.
    I cut my firewood at 300mm long and when you add that to a 350 - 400mm diameter log then it becomes rather heavy to lift into the trailer. So i attach the log grapple with the assistance of my son Isaac and get to work.
    The 1 ton Chinese mini excavator is a very light weight machine for this job and i even push its limits to see what it can lift and what its limitations are, stay watching to see what happens.
    Thank you for watching and as ever leave a comment if you want to see anything specific or drop me a direct email at nick.garton@hotmail.com

    Father of the year award coming you way. Seeing Isaac at the controls was the best thing i saw on TH-cam today. Great job.
    I really like how you are using that thumb in the mini. Sure keeps your back together.
    Great video as always.

      Aah gees thanks Jerry, I'm a firm believer of getting my kids involved at a young age so they will not be afraid of work when they grow up with me 😆
      It really does help having that grapple on when moving and cutting them logs and firewood rounds. As I get older I think a bit more older 😄
      Thank you as always buddy, true support and true gent.

    Very nice to see how that attaches to the digger. I have one (still never used) and had no idea how it mounts up. Thanks Nick for the video and great job there Isaac on the controls!

      Thank you very much buddy, the grapple isn't as easy as first thought and works OK but I feel it could be the other way round. But none the less it works pretty good and if it makes my work lighter then yeee haaaawwww 😄
      Thank you as always buddy 🙏

      Hey buddy, how's things ? It's been a while. Yes your very right, Isaac loves being on the digger. Infact he can operate it to a little extent.
      Thank you for commenting buddy 👍

    I reckon you can always tell whether someone has mechanical aptitude and mechanical sympathy by how well they use a hammer. That kid's got it. He's gunna be great.
    Regarding the grapple, if you mean "the other way round" as having the three tines on the furthest side, no, the idea of having it with the wider part on the cab side is that if you pick up something like a small diamater pole and it snaps, then the wider tine side will push it around the narrower tine side meaning it will snap both sides of the pole away from the cab (ie snap the forwards) - put it on the other way around and it will snap things towards the cab (ie snap them backwards)..

      Hey Dave and thanks for commenting 👍 thank you for the kind words also for my son. He's great now so be interesting to see how he turns out.
      On the grapple attachment, that makes sense to me what you have said. I didn't think about it that way. The reason I said about the other way round is because I do some free lance tree surgeon day work and their excavator with the grapple is the other way round and seem to have a better grap that way. So the narrower grapple tines are closer to operator and the wider side facing out. That seems to work nicer than mine. But that may have been built and designed differently.

      @@everydaywithmenick It's probably not a big issue with an excavator this small but bigger grabs often use their own rams that are controlled by the auxilliary pedal/rocker-switch and with some of the big chinese diggers being very on-off you can get a tendency to snap things, especially when doing scrub and brush work out in the bush. I was talking to one of the hydraulic techs the other day who told me of a local chinese digger operator who used his grabs for the first time to pick up a sleeper and they jammed shut so fast that it snapped the sleeper and bits went flying off (forwards fortunately). needless to say, flow controls were fitted very quickly (bigger name brand modern machines have user control screen programmable flow controls to the auxilliaries so you don't get that sort of problem).

      @everydaywithmenick  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Dave Jaguar Oz wow that's some pressure that chinese mini excavator had to snap a sleeper. Mine has to be carefully operated I must admit and 2 controls at once make the motions so much smoother.
      For a little more money these chinese machines would be a great addition to folk but the cheap and cheerful option prevails.
      Thank you for your fantastic advice buddy 👍

      Hey Kevin and firstly let me say, thank you for sticking around for so long, your support and just basically yawl are awesome.
      Kids don't stay young forever and when they grow its great at times.
      Thats great news for your excavator, what have you gone for ? Make sure you try and do content with your son, what your doing is making everlasting memories with your son, growing an amazing bond and if your uploading to TH-cam is a great way to look back at your time.
      I aren't that savy with all the effects but that would be cool to see. I'll keep an eye on your channel.
      Thank you again 👍

    How cool the young bloke has a real excavator to work on. How are the blade repairs holding up?

    • @everydaywithmenick
      @everydaywithmenick  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you Glenn, the blade is holding up great since I did the mk2 repair. Really solid and isn't moving anywhere with the recent work I have done on it.

    Great vid showing the capabilities of these little affordable machines. I think you would have been fine moving those bigger logs if you brought them in closer to you. Trying to lift them so far from the mini ex shows that they do have a limit.

      Hey Sam thank you for commenting. To be fair I can't really knock my machine. It can do things that surprise me sometimes. But yes, lifting way out there is not good and puts strain on all parts. We live and learn and once I've done it a few times then I can learn what's best.
      Thabk you again buddy 👍

    How that thumb work? i dont see a cylinder?

    • @everydaywithmenick
      @everydaywithmenick  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Adam and thanks for commenting, the grapple is attached to the main dipper arm and part of the grapple is attached to the dipper arm ram. It works but it isnt the best, id say a thumb would be better for picking stuff up.
      Ive got another video coming up soon with the grapple in operation. Thank you again 👍
