This 800hp Evo is nearly 100% Carbon Fibre. It weighs only 1000kg, and it's absolutely stunning.

  • 800hp, 1000kg, fully carbon fibre. What's not to love?
While we were recently at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival, we happened to be sharing a pit bay area with all the cars from GT Auto Garage, including one of the most incredible Mitsubishi Evolutions we have ever seen. Aside from the fact it was made nearly entirely from carbon fibre, with around 800hp and weighing only 1000kg, it was one of the fastest sedans on the track.
Owner Mick Sigsworth tells us that incredibly this vehicle started life as a regular road car, bought off the showroom floor back in 2007. As you can see, it's far from that now!
The car has completely been rebuilt from the ground up, featuring exposed carbon fibre everywhere you look.
We have a chat to Mick about the build and what's inside this beast.

CP9A (Evo 5-6.5 are 1300kg to just under As Stock Street cars so it actually can't be put against how much this car lost being 1450-1500kg ;) If you want instantly light there is plenty more Higher hp less weight cars Evo 2-3 ( 700kg ) 550-600whp , an a Hill climb White Evo 6 Rs is 850kg an Twin charged 800whp ;)

As Australia Goes, the Tilton Evo is the most impressive, if it ever returns with a rebuilt Chassis * since it was stock * just had aerodynamic changes,, an if it was running the paddle setup it would of no doubt gone into the Sub 1.23s, at Wtac, as a Awd that is fast, rwd is no doubt the king of Wtac tho,

Cheeky i said the one you listed was a CP9A, this is a CT9A , i have owned both including even a CE9A, its easier to shed weight from something that is originally 200kg+ less weight to begin with its basically the same achievement,, but there is better Evo 6s, an 5s out there then the red one not saying its not impressive,

You are in the right ball park $$$ from what i have heard, def a lot of money to develop a car this well, it certainly drives well, very fast indeed.
I have a 510kgs LMP3 car and is less than a second slower per lap than this at QR, but my car cost less than a 5th of this to buy.
I can't afford to build a machine like this, but if you want to go fast, there are means and ways of achieving it with far less money.
This EVO is an amazing build and if you can afford to do this, I say go for it, what a hoot for a tin top.

Fantastic video, Mick was fantastic at describing his machine, great questions Mark. I have seen Mick and his car a few times now, but never had the chance to talk to him about it or see it up close, this video was what I needed.
I love the fact he has just the right size brakes on, so many go too big, he understands the importance of rotational forces and gyroscopic forces associated with brakes it seems, this is a sign of guy and team who know exactly what they are doing.
I am not sure i would do the fuel cooling in quite the same way, but hats off to ingenuity here, great to see these sorts of mods.
The torque bias in the AWD is great to see too, I always wondered in my 34GTR if going from 50/50 AWD split to a more FWD orientated delivery would be advantageous, I guess I will never know as I have sold the car a while back, but glad to see it working well here in the EVO.
Everything about this car is well though out and simplistically implemented, what a fantastic car and build.

It's not a venturi system on the intake,it's the opposite as i know.
The fuel cooler act just as an organiser for a laminar flow,so a better efficiency to fill up the compressor housing.
when you lower air speed ,with a bigger section, you gain pressure.
He uses Bernoulli principles there : lower air speed to gain air pressure to fill up more efficiently.
But the air filter up front is a mistake here, the surface area is way too big,
The rule is about 1/3 intake mouth surface area of the air filter.

Running a stock engine block at 800hp for a 4g63 (at least that's what motor i believe its running) would be physically impossible for the street let alone a time attack car.
First lap and you'd blow it to pieces.
Now if you mean using the same engine that came with the car but not stock at all then yes I agree with you.
