I love it so much. It is so colorful and pretty. You have such a talent! How long did it take you to make this cake? And how long do you chill it in the fridge? I love how you use different kinds of tips for your rainbow colors on the side of the cake.
Thank you so much! After baking the cake layer and preparing the buttercream, the decoration took less than an hour so it's not as time consuming as it looks like it is! I put the crumb coated cake in the fridge for about 10 minutes while I chose my piping tips and filled the piping bags with the rainbow buttercream
@@BritishGirlBakes I never know how long I should keep my cakes in the fridge to chill but I think I will keep them in for 10 minutes like you do. Thanks so much! I love your videos so much!
OH. MY. GOD. This... Is genius! I've made rainbow cakes before but none had this idea! The ones similar to your cake had a really complicated process so I'm stunned by your video You're proved yourself once again, well done.
Very cute cake! Ive never wash my piping bags. Probably b/c I usually make macarons or fill macarons with them. Have you thought about getting reusable bags since you're washing the disposal ones ? If so why or why not? Just curious
This is perfect timing for my son who just asked for a rainbow cake. How quickly after making it do you think it needs to be served? Set up the cake but noticed that the rainbow inside was starting to sink down to the board within a few minutes. I popped it back on its side to chill before doing the crumb coat, but now I don't want to make it the day before.
It depends on the type of cake, filling and frosting you’re using. I used a butter based cake which can support the weight of buttercream easily so it’s fine to sit out all day but if you’re using something light like angel food cake with buttercream, the weight of the filling and frosting can make it sink. You can try refrigerating the cake after frosting it to keep it firm and stable and then take it out of the fridge 2-4 hours before serving to let it come to room temperature, when it tastes best!
@@BritishGirlBakes thanks so much. I was actually just thinking of the frosting between the layers that gets stood vertically. I wasn't sure how long that could safely support its own weight. :)
Adding artificial (clear) vanilla extract or almond extract will disguise any taste of the food colouring in buttercream. I haven't tried it with whipped cream but it might work!
I find it so crazy that a content farm takes your video, Emily, sticks it in a compilation, and gets 1.6m views - and of course all the advertising revenue that goes with that. TH-cam I believe permits this in its T&Cs. I wonder if some content creators should club together to make their own compilations? I'd so much rather support the actual creators than these content farms!
Pretty and easy if your instructions are carefully followed. Thanks for sharing your talent!👍🏾👍🏾♥️♥️🙌🏾

Hello over there on the other side of the world!

I use a lot red gel color in my whipping cream and it tastes bitter …
Any solution for this?

I thought I was the only one who reuses disposable piping bags 😄
Nope, me too! I tried the reusable canvas ones but I don't like the way they smell after several uses!
