While he focused entirely on the drugs part, he glossed over the part where sorcerers were the wise, learned, and educated of their day, claiming to know the true nature of spirituality and divinity. We have too many academics and gurus who offer quick fixes, alternative philosophies to the gospel and sell these alongside drugs and medicines.

@jasoneldredge1728 Yep that's what it seems Science's as big Pharma pushes all their drugs through the Science's of medicine.
I also think this interpretation is missing a huge component of the literal power both spiritually and physically of the Devil. As we saw Pharaohs sorcerers replicate what Moses done.
At the risk of explaining the miraculous powers of Satan. We can fall on that slippery slope where we don't believe in the literal physical power of evil and thereby disassociate with God's power to also perform miracles.
      Mormon 9:
20 And the reason why he ceaseth to do miracles among the children of men is because that they dwindle in unbelief.

As someone who is a medical provider, I can attest that there are prescription drugs out there that can become addictive and enslave a person, as well as I believe by "pharmaceuticals" he was also discussing illegal drugs out there that enslave alot of poor and rich. I strive very hard never to prescribe these types of drugs because I have seen so many become addicted to it. I can see what John was discussing, as it is illegal drug cartels which cause alot of problems in our nations, as well as is usually connected with sex trafficking and all other manner of evil.

Many may not be aware of this, but there are several "spiritual" and/or "healing" practices that do use drugs to help the process along. I have friends who have used one. I can't remember the name of it. It's a deep meditation that involves a drug that reminds me of weed or similar. Several of them have left the church after following this practice. The other is a popular practice going on in Utah and maybe other areas. It's called "the journey" I think. You are given capsules with Mushrooms in them and get together in groups of people to talk out your issues or feelings. The experiences lead to what very much feels like therapy and healing. This confuses people and they think they no longer need Jesus as their healer and they don't need His gospel. Suddenly life is a journey of healing and not a journey of becoming a disciple of Christ. Drugs are being legalized, alcohol and pornogrphy are drugs in their own way as well. I don't think sorcery is meant in any way whatsoever about a vaccine or even much about useful rx's, but rather things that alter our thoughts, emotions, and feelings in ways that are addictive and/or lead us away from Christ. I've sure seen it. Thank you for this video so that I can connect these things to the term or sorcery. It's very accurate.

I would take great caution with any drug that helps meditate.
There is beautiful music, that I play to helps me fall asleep to the snoring. In fact, when I put the music on the snoring practically stops. Also, I get much better sleep and longer. I believe natural remedies such as purified essential oils, which, I use the brand doTERRA, Greek meaning: gift of the earth or God’s garden. Well worth the money and definitely safe.
Speaking of drugs, in 2019 I got really sick, sicker than I have ever ever been. I ran a fever of 103 for over two weeks. I felt like I was suffocating and I could barely get out of bed before I finally went to a doctor. Only to be told I had a virus. “None are required to tamely and blindly submit to a man because he has a portion of the priesthood. We have heard men who hold the priesthood remark, that they would do anything they were told to do by those who presided over them, if they knew it was wrong; but such obedience as this is worse than folly to us; it is slavery in the extreme; and the man who would thus willingly degrade himself should not claim a rank among intelligent beings, until he turns from his folly. A man of God…would despise the idea. Others, in the extreme…have taught that such obedience was necessary, and that no matter what the saints were told to do by their presidents, they should do it without asking any questions. When Elders of Israel will so far indulge in these extreme notions of obedience as to teach them to the people, it is generally because they have it in their minds to do wrong themselves”

Prescribed medicine such as anti-depressants and zanax for anxiety were prescribed so much for members of the Church back in the 80's and 90's that the Church had someone do a study on it, and found out that throughout the valley people were being over medicated. And back then instead of asking things like, are you exercising, or what are you eating and such, they were prescribed these meds and it really was something. Things like prozac and paxil were numbing out feelings and members were staying on them much longer than needed and with some, they couldn't taper off of paxil. That was the problem and that was many years ago. Since then people have realized is there other things I can do before I take medication.

This is such an interesting topic. I believe it has helped me gain a little understanding of some experiences I've had.
When I was on my mission we were teaching a less active member who suffered greatly from drug addiction and mental illness. I don't know if his mental illness was caused by his drug use, but based on the drugs he was using it is very possible.
This member would frequently go off his medication and have periods of bipolar schizophrenia. When he had these episodes he fully believed he was the archangel Michael reincarnated and he would say the most wild things. One day, my companion and I went to his house to meet with him and he happened to have a "friend" there. As soon as we entered the home there was a very dark, uncomfortable feeling despite the home being well lit. This "friend" was certainly also a drug addict and I had a suspicion he may have been a dealer as well. This man was very well spoken and charismatic. We talked to him for probably 20 minutes or so and he left before we started our lesson with the member with a prayer. But before he left he did something uncanny. He made a "prophecy". He claimed to be able to look at us and see our futures. I don't remember all the details but he told me exactly which career I would go into, and he told my companion that he would become a bishop. I don't know if that companion has become a bishop yet, but he did later go on to become an assistant to the mission president. The career he predicted for me happened to be the exact job I had been planning on pursuing after my mission, and which after several years of work and training after my mission I did eventually achieve. I believe now that he was one of the "sorcerers" mentioned in scripture, and a false prophet. Perhaps he could even be considered a false Christ based on the kind of influence he had over our member friend.

      Prophets are humans,
they have opinions about things JUST LIKE YOU DO!
Their opinions are NOT SCRIPTURE OR DOCTRINE. He said when he made the announcement that he didn't say everyone else must get it. He left that decision up to you! I had the Covid-19 virus so I have immunity-so I don't need the VAX. Would I get the jab if I didn't have the virus??? NO! THIS VAX IS NOT LIKE THE THOUSANDS OF VAXES THAT THE LDS CHURCH HAS SO KINDLY DISTRIBUTED TO 3rd WORLD NATIONS WHO NEED HELP WITH SO MANY DISEASES THAT HAVE BECOME RARE RATHER THAN COMMONLY SEEN BY PHYSICIANS. Dr. Nelson is a surgeon so he speaks from a medical surgeon's perspective. He is not a viralogist which makes a difference. Many LDS PHYSICIANS have discouraged the "jab" - but they are NOT in the same field as Nelson is. The Prophet is trying to do what's best and he has seen traditional vaxes work wonders - but not this vax! Just because you aren't too crazy about his advice doesn't mean he's not a prophet. Make your decision and accept the consequences - just like everyone else. Stop being so critical of President Nelson!
      Critical of Biden?
🤣😉😏 just keep it to yourself!

Thanks for another great video. I'm always glad to see when a new one is posted. I have a little different opinion about sorcery in these last days.
Webster's 1828 dictionary defines sorcery - SOR'CERY, noun Magic; enchantment; divination by the assistance of evil spirits, or the power of commanding evil spirits.
I'm afraid drugs are just one of many paths that lead to sorcery, where people are using their agency to turn to these dark spirits for whatever advantages they believe they can get. In my opinion anything that weakens the will, or has an addictive nature to it, i.e. gives body power over mind, or causes an impure heart where the Holy Ghost cannot abide with us, is likely enabling these spirits who are far more knowledgeable and powerful than most people believe. Once they are able to entice a person into consenting to their presence, people begin to become familiar with them. I've heard stories of power hungry government leaders (Hitler for example) that sought means for advanced technology, military weapons, bioweapons, etc. from supernatural sources. These spirits have been around at least as long as human life on earth and they have witnessed periods of advanced technology that surpass what we have now and likely barter for the valuable information they have. Some think the UFO phenomena is due to these spirits somehow getting access into our dimension through human help. Satan and these unembodied spirits have always sought to entice, overcome, and possess anyone with a body. I have read a few early Christian writers who think that the mark of the beast is nothing more than the Satanic version of having the Lord's image in our countenance. The mark of the beast being something recognizable in those who are rebelling against God, and turning to the dark evil elements in the unseen world. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. “ Ephesians 6:12

Thank you for your comments. May I share with you my personal testimony? What you say about agency is true. Use of agency can have greater power if used for Gods purposes. Anything that strengthens our faith and Heavenly Fathers’ purpose enable us to draw closer to him. We can and need to be “familiar” in our relationship with him. I recently enjoyed the talk by Wendy Watson Nelson about change and our ability to choose to change by reflecting on the atonement of Jesus Christ. We need to “Rend the veil of unbelief and access the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.” Wendy Watson,BYU 5-7-2018 Change It’s’ always a possibility]

I’ve thought a few times in the past about the times in the scriptures where it mentions magic and sorcery, and it’s always negative/in an evil light. I’ve wondered maybe I shouldn’t write this book, or watch things like Harry Potter/LOTR. But I’ve never ever ever equated magic with drugs. That was so interesting to learn. “People will use magic/drugs in the last day to kill a great many people.” Dude. That’s the Opioid Epidemic! This is so crazy. This quote about drugs by Pres. Hinkley makes me angry. Because many of the Latter-Day Saints are actually pushing dangerous drugs. How? Well many doctors, psychiatrists, and other's in the medical profession are prescribing some of the most dangerous drug's known to man. I am talking about legal drugs of course, and many of these are worse than illegal drug's. I mean Hinckleys quote is true, but it so hypocritical to talk about the illegal drug pusher's and leave out the many church members who prescribe drugs that are just as bad and "Warp" minds too. I know because I was prescribed large dose's of zanax by some L.D.S. doctors who were MONSTERS. It took over 10 years to get off this drug and the side effects were disasterous. The damage to the Brain(mind) and body is just as bad as the Illegal drugs. The Saint's are quilty too of this crime!!

I believe the urge we got from the first presidency to be from God. President Nelson and his counselors are men of God, not only when they wear suits are they prophets but by every word and deed that comes out their mouth it is the same as the Lord has stated.
I do believe big pharma are in business for something but the invitation we received last year is from God. Therefore the Prophet does not need to say “this sayeth the Lord” to be a commandment.
Also I really liked in the latest video that this account posted the formula to understand doctrine. First is the scriptures, then what Joseph Smith said and then Prophets and then everyone else.
President Nelson is the Prophet that we need today to lead us safely to where we need to go

    • @SickAcousticCovers
      @SickAcousticCovers 2 ปีที่แล้ว

One thing to consider though is that "Even the very elect shall be deceived". I think that we can safely presume that the very elect will follow direct commands and warnings from the prophet, so how can they possibly be deceived?
Is the prophet considered to be among the elect as well? Can he be deceived?
I personally believe that there are times he is speaking as prophet and there are times he is speaking as a man. The churches guidance on the vax was never given as a command or part of a prophesy. In any case, I hope that what he says at the end of this video is true, and that the destroying angel will pass us by regardless. And I hope that the new info that respected journals are releasing about the vax aren't correct, because I have family who has taken it. I'd rather be wrong. The more time passes, the worse it looks though.

Why can’t it be bad if a prophet suggested it? Where is it written that prophets can’t be wrong or that everything they say or do is correct, good, or doctrinally accurate? The blind obedience is spiritually lazy and does not, in fact, align with LDS doctrine. Many prophets have been wrong, both in scripture and latter-days. We are to heed the words of the Lord’s servants and seek confirmation with the Holy Ghost to know if what they’re saying is from God. Many modern prophets have confirmed this as well.

I can certainly see that, yes. Someone recently explained why he vapes; it changed the way his body felt and his state of mind was altered. I forgot the word he used. Loopy, light, but whatever it was, it was something that he craved.

Great clip. I do think it's wise to follow the prophet, for we know he knows the way.
Perhaps do a video next on why we should follow the prophet

The scriptures teach that we are not to put our trust in any man as far as I have been able to find. Where in the scriptures do we get the idea that we are to follow a man?

@@AntonydenDulk except when the man is the mouthpiece of God - his prophet. We ARE to follow the prophet in all his counsels. The scriptures says, as from God's mouth or the mouth of his prophets, IT IS THE SAME. If you don't believe the prophet, you're living a lie in the Church.

That is the actual quote - notice there is nothing about prophets there. I'm a servant of God so this could write easily apply to me.

@@davidk4869 Doctrine and Covenants one does not teach following the prophet, it teaches that it does not matter if God speaks the word himself or a servant speaks his word since they are the same.
"my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled, whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same."
Notice that it starts with "my word" so it only applies to words that a servant has received from God.
All who receive God's word and follow it are his servants, it is not limited to one person. There is also no requirement to follow that servant in that statement, God is merely saying that he will fulfill his word no matter who speaks his word.
Am I missing something in the section?

I don't mind going out on a limb. If the gods that you have a direct relationship with is not malevolent and/or ones mentioned in the keys of Solomon/books of Enoch etc etc. You have to have to ask your self am I giving willing to the the god/gods that I have a direct relationship with? And If so is the/,they god/gods a malevolent force.

As a sorcerer, I define "sorcery" or more generally magick, broadly...as the actions of casting spells, performing rituals, working with entities outside of those proscribed by the bible, or imposing one's psychic will, to manifest change in the physical realm, or to divine answers for that which is unknown. This can be done in concert with mind altering substances, as was historically done by shamans, medicine men, priests, and sorcerers in ancient times. I must say I am not a fan of a bible that purports to have an all loving god, but if you disobey his dictates, you get to burn in a lake of fire for all eternity. So trillions upon trillions of years for say a lifespan of 70 years of indiscretion. It would seem to me this is a human contrivance rather than divine truth.

Psychedelics are having a comeback. Specifically mushrooms. I know a lot of people that left the church who are interested or doing Ayahuasca. You take the tea (it has DMT) and a shaman will guide you toward healing.
It really is Interesting that many are seeking “spirituality” through these things.
