I am Thai. I recalled when I first came to US, I smiled a lot, and people looked at me like I was crazy 🤣. One of my coworkers always gave me a weird look all those years I worked with her. I finally learned that I would only smile to people I like in US 😌. However, I recently retired and am going back to the land of smile 😊.
I’m a 60 year born and raised American and America is the last place you want to retire in,your making the right choice😊
Thanks for sharing!!
35 years as a flight attendant with Delta air lines here, my passengers often give me "Wai" when I hand them their drinks / food. I often ask how they knew, they always said "because of your smile"
Well....what ever people may say or think. I WILL be moving to Thailand!!!
Great, Thailand is an amazing country to live in!!! 😊🇹🇭
Entry to Thailand for actual tourists is easy. People who are vacationing for 2-4 weeks can arrive visa exempt for 30 days (possibly 60 days in the next month or two). Visas for long stay expats (1 year+) such as retirees (over 50 years old) or people who have a job and a work permit are more complicated but that is true in any country. You do have to meet the visa requirements.
The people who have visa complaints are typically people trying to stay long term using tourist visas and extensions. Tourists, by definition, are not people wanting to live here long term. They have jobs and homes to go back to. For people under 50 years there are few long stay options. Unfortunate but true.
For those young guys. Work hard, retire with a "pension", then move on over!
A good visa agent eliminates nearly all the stress just don’t be cheap and pony up you get what you pay for…
Moving to Hua Hin on October 13th! Can't wait!
Thumbs up 👍 Tony
Thanks 👍
Thank you for mentioning about glasses 👓. Very important 😊 & about your wife feeling safe walking around! Awesome 👏 video for information again! Try to soak up all your good advice.
Love how you kind of summed up common sense for moving to Thailand. 🇹🇭 😉 Most people will think it's just a big party 🎉
Thanks for watching! Glad that you found a lot of helpful information.😊🙏🏻🇹🇭
Hi Tony, another great video. Always full of great information.
Again a great video, you are absolutely amazing at explaining everything you say in a clear way and don't talk too fast like many English speaking TH-camrs do, hats off!
Kind Regards,
Mikael from Sweden
Wow, thank you!
Good points 👉 thank you
You're welcome
Great insights! Thanks for this video!
Good video again, Tony. very informative. I just learned as of June 1st, 2024, people can stay 60 days now. Curious about your street dog situation in your area? I like to walk but always carry a stick just in case . I am more of a rural area, so it comes as no surprise with the dogs. lol !! 😅
We have had no issues. 😊
@danielsun7298 I'm in Chanthaburi province and their a pain In the leg!!!
Try to explore small soi or temples and there thay are. They guard every small street..
Local monks won't even venture up our street. They've been bitten as well as construction workers and our housekeeper. ..
Just my area opinion. ..
@@danielsun7298 I am Thai and very scared of street dogs 😂
What is so difficult about visas ? U get an agent and they handle ur retirement visa. It’s good for a yr and report every 90 days. How is that complicated? Seems pretty straightforward to me.
I am in the US and trying to get an O-A visa and I am having problems.
@@youdeservethis do it while you’re IN Thailand and use an agent. Very simple just to pay the agent a fee to arrange everything.
This is true but not everyone is on a retirement visa.
They just updated visas to 60 days on arrival yesterday but idk if you can extend that just on a tourist visa exemption. Still saves the pain in the butt after 30 days and also the 1900 THB cost
@@portlandGTRThe have been some announcements regarding the 60 day visa exemption but it hasn’t been implemented yet. People are still getting stamped in for 30 days.
Another misconception I had was that I could marry up to 50 trees there! 😅
Sally Lee..: Re your question below. I'm 65. If I can toss in a comment. Thais have universal Healthcare. For Thais..Not applicable to us.
We the guests are responsible for our own Healthcare and it can be purchased through several companies over here. It is $$ and goes higher if you want preventative walk in visits. Most end up purchasing in patient care only.
They do not have to accept pre exsisting conditions like in the US
Age 65 up most require a physical at sign up.
Earlier sign up recommended..
We have a top named company that we went with. But I still roll my eyes when I see total coverage and what a real world heart attack or stroke costs.
Hope that helps!!
Apple products are way over priced as Thai wages are very low. It would cost more to sell them in the US than Thailand. Thai salespeople would earn 300-400 baht a day as well as warehouse, import staff and transportation.
I find electronics to be the same or slightly cheaper as tax is built into the price already.
How about car prices and big bikes.
I bought a new Honda CRV from a Honda dealer in 2022. I believe this model is assembled in Thailand. I Googled US prices and the best I can figure is that my car cost the same or maybe a little more than in the US.
They just updated visas to 60 days on arrival yesterday but idk if you can extend that just on a tourist visa exemption. Still saves the pain in the butt after 30 days and also the 1900 THB cost. Anyone know if you can extend after the 60 day visa exemption period?
The visa changes haven't been implemented yet. They may not come into effect until next month.
This is correct. I tried on the 5th from Myanmar still 30days only. Then renew without leaving country for 30. Then renew by departing again.
Do you have a U.S. bank account with a U.S. address? My bank told me to have a U.S. address so I can keep my U.S. bank checking/saving/investment accounts. is there are a monthly fee for Google Voice? Thanks again with the great info
Thanks for watching! Yes, we have kept all of our US Bank accounts and we have kept a US address as well, a virtual address we got through IPostal1. As far as Google Voice, there is a one time fee of $20, but no monthly fee.😊🇹🇭
Hi Tony, Do they have a government healthcare we can get for seniors over 65? If not do you know where we can get some? Thanks
No for government but look in the description for who we recommend.
@@TheNarrowGate We are over 70 so too old.
@@sallylee6934 Check with Pacific Cross. They may accept new clients up to 75 years old but i think you will find the rates and exclusions not to your liking.
@@sallylee6934 Try Pacific Cross. You may qualify with them depending on their assessment of whether they will cover you for any particular pre-existing medical conditions. If they will cover you, and you keep up your cover, you can be covered until you are 99 years old.
@@margaretgiudice7698 Nothing wrong with me but I think they are expensive. I wish we could take our ohip with us.
What's the infrastructure like with regards to the roads, sidewalks, electric grid, and internet?
Sidewalks can be abysmal. Don’t expect them to be handicap friendly. Roads are fine. I drive here and as far as my experience they are as good as in the US. Electricity is good. I think I had more and longer power outages in California than I’ve experienced in Bangkok or in the countryside. Internet? No different than the US. If you have extraordinary internet requirements then shop carefully.
@@martypoll thanks for the reply. Yeah, I'm the typical "digital nomad" with a remote insurance job, so I would like the electricity and internet to be decent.
We have had our electricity go out about 4 to 5 times a year and the Internet speeds are really good.
@TheNarrowGate really? How long, on average, were each outtage?
Usually not more than an hour.
If you wanna own real estate in Asia, try Malaysia instead
Glasses. That is too bad
My final misconception was that only bald men were allowed to enter Thailand! 😅
🤣😂
the weird thing is it seems like everyone is on the make when i watch the videos and such from various folk. Just seems like you always have to keep your head on a swivel for scammers especially transportation and tourist stuff.
haha. I love, 'you can find the right one' when talking about the submissive women. I know you did not mean it to come out that way but it was a good freudian slip.
