Great video! I finished up at MEPS in GA about 2 weeks ago. For those who are yet to go to MEPS, I highly highly recommend you get your ASVAB done BEFORE going to MEPS. I had to take the full ASVAB at MEPS and wasn't drinking a ton of water in the morning due to this. I was unable to provide a urine sample by the time I got to medical, the head nurse there was in a huge rush and wasn't very accommodating (I get it tho) -- I had to go back for a day 2 to provide a urine sample which was pretty sucky... Anyways, shipping Feb. 18th -- 25H Good luck, future soldiers!
One more tip: Study and do well on your ASVAB, y'all! I was told I could just spam through the ~170 question psychological evaluation by my office -- there's a chance you could too -- that's a big time-saver not to have to read all those silly psych. questions P.S. I was a heavy THC user until the time I planned on joining the Army. Just tell your recruiter about it like David says, there are a ton of people who smoke weed nowadays, your recruiter will not care & make sure that you are clear before you go to MEPS with in-office drug tests. To my heavy smokers trying to get the THC out of your system, exercise, sweat, and drink TONS of water.
Just went to Meps last week, it was really boring and I sat there doing nothing way longer than I should have. They actually omitted several the tests because most of the staff didn't show up and they were processing a navy group that was shipping that day. At least they were really chill since its Christmas, they let us watch Deadpool&Wolverine while we were there. Had to redo the asvab despite answering everything right.
Heading to Meps in a few weeks. After some legal waivers. That needs to be signed and Ok’d. Took my Asvab scored a 76. After that looking to join as a 68W combat medic!! 🇺🇸🦅 looking to head out to boot by the end of January or early February!
No= Numerous Opportunities Yes= Your Enlistment Stops here. With the above in mind, if you told your recruiter you smoked weed 3 times or never had a a broken bone, make sure you answer according to what’s on your 2807 medical prescreen. Same for law violations, dependents, credit issues, etc. Don’t all of a sudden start remembering stuff and answer “Yes” to something that wasn’t discussed with your recruiter or isn’t on the 2807, SF86, or 1966. If you answer “Yes” to having ADHD because one of your dads said you had it…then Your Enlistment Stops here. Don’t all of a sudden remember or vaguely remember you had a speeding ticket from 3 years ago. Oh…if you stay at the hotel the night before the physical…use the free hotel soap when you shower in the morning to wash your nasty asses. I worked at a MEPS and processors can be absolutely foul. Wash your ass! Don’t listen to music cranked up the night before.

honestly meps wasnt bad at all... i had already passed the asvab a week prior and got shiped out to a hotel (decent hotel nothing to crazy) and was up by 3 am with my roomie then was at the meps place by 6 ish. was out by 12pm.. only things that i can say i did wrong was be an extreme yapper and got told off by the guy who runs the front desk.... not many complications but i have some wavers for my adhd. depression (from 2018 might i add) and a few other small things. idk when ima get updated but my mos is prolly gunna be a 92w water treatment if not something else in medical
Something my recruiter told me is "no coming to jesus moments. They dont no anything other then what you told me." Not sure he was supposed to tell me that but it saved me. Had a doctor come in and ask if anyone ever smoked pot and never said anything they could leave. Watched at least 6 people walk out because they second guessed themselves
Hello David, im preparing for the physical I had open heart surgery but my cardiologist said im ok to join. I told my recruiter that and he told me to bring the Drs note with the clearance. I don't have any limitations and I can do pushups with no problem and run as well. The recruiter told me I should be ok. I hope I pass
You should be good, usually marine and USAF are very strict when it comes to med waivers (what I mean is they usually disqualify people with serious or mild med procedures)
I'll be going to San Antonio MEPS next Thursday, the only thing in worried about (even though I shouldn't) is taking the piCAT verification test, which I'm told if I fail I'll have to take the ASVAB again, hopefully everything will go well and I'll be sworn in.
I went through Dallas MEPS three times, twice in 1991 (once for the delayed enlistment program, then again the day before ship-out) for active duty and one more time in 1995 when I re-enlisted to the Guard. Clean your ears or THEY will do it for you. If you fail your hearing test, they'll try cleaning them and running you through again. And you don't get to go into a room and privately pee in a cup, we didn't anyway- a dude sits there and stares at your junk while you do it. If you have stage fright, better start dealing with it now. IDK how they do the delayed enlistment program these days. I had to go a 3rd time for the Natl Guard because XXX amount of months had passed from active ETS. With all that said I passed all 3 times.
Lol we went into a bathroom area and there was like 7 urinals all right next to each other. All but one kid did it quickly and were done. We had tow ait for this other kid to piss and it took like 10 mins. Nervous peer I guess
I remember going to meps twice if I remember correctly. In 1991 I joined the navy. First time was to do the physical, second time was the day we shipped out to boot camp. I just remember all of the people working there were from all different branches of the military and they were all of the biggest assholes 🤣 so be prepared for that unless it’s changed .
Man I went through meps a couple months ago for airforce, passed everything fine but the one thing that was holding me up was peeing in the cup. I got a shy bladder and just couldn't pee and tried like 4 times, but when someone is watching it's just hard for me to piss for some reason, they made me come back the next day stayed in the hotel again and I was finally able to get it done after my 2nd try on the third day, I drank so much water that I was actually bout to explode was super nervous I wouldn't pass cause of that but I'm chilling now 😂
*Greatest MEPS video I’ve seen, I’m 6”3 270 lbs and trying to lose weight to join(ARMY), Question, I hurt my hand when I was a jr, in highschool about 7 years ago Went in for a dr visit, should I bring it up to a recruiter.?*
So long as the injury healed correctly and you have no issues using that hand, you should be fine. Address it if your recruiter asks if you’ve had any previous injuries but don’t be afraid of it disqualifying you.
The funny thing is I did the whole wiggle my finger to show that it was fully functional and they accepted it . I think they took it because I went to a military clinic so they already have my medical records from my youth and already disclose it to my recruiter already. But Meps is always going to be different for everyone. I don't know if wedding bands are exception to the jewelry rule but I had it on the whole entire time and took it off once going through the metal detector. Edit: I also pulled a muscle doing the duck walk and acted like nothing happen.
@@borkanese by far the worst part of the whole experience is the nerves the night before at the hotel. Its going to be a little bit of a culture shock in the morning going into the building, but the vast majority of it is sitting in different spots just waiting. Nothing too intense. Security clearance is usually a way of trust requested by govt or any firms whereas you're going to be working for their security field like cops or Cybersecurity.
i also would like to include about the blood pressure/heart rate. i just did my physical and passed everything. there was one guy at meps who had to redo his pulse and heart rate because he was holding his urine from 4am all the way to 10am. that set the machines off and he had to redo it everything again. just a little FYI for future soldiers.
I did two tours of recruiting duty. I freakin hated it. Got to babysit your kids for up to a year. Got to kiss their parents ass. Got to kiss the high schools ass. If they don’t ship it’s your fault. I had a girl get pregnant and told me the night before she was supposed to ship.
Not sure how it is for other branches, but I know for the Navy (I imagine it's the same across the board, but I'm not sure) you _can_ auto-qualify for the CTI job (which is basically Cryptologic Linguist in the Army) and not have to take the DLAB if your ASVAB line scores are high enough. I'm getting ready to ship as a CTI and auto-qualified for it. So it is possible that you may not have to take the DLAB if your ASVAB is high enough, for anyone that may be curious.
You‘ll have to chug a ton of water until your urge to pee is greater than your inability to pee in front of people. If you still can’t, you’ll have to go back another day and try again 🤷🏻♂️
When I first enlisted I told the doctor the time my mom walked me to the mental hospital cause I took the car to go to a party (I was 15 so she thought I was crazy) I had to wait a whole week more for the next MEPS visit cause he needed a form stating I was documented at the mental hospital, but I never was documented into it. So my recruiter had to make a statement for me and my mom stating that I was never admitted into it lol good times. I’m now at 3BCT 2-506IR at Fort Campbell rethinking my life choices 😂
@ thank you! Question, once someone is denied at Meps for a specific branch because of medical reasons does that mean that person cannot try to enlist on another branch? Thanks
I'm 30 years old and I'm about to leave for the Navy on 5 FEB. Nothing wrong with it. Just make sure you're fit. There's no wrong time to get your life together and if you feel like the military is going to be the best path for you, then go for it.

I was told I could just spam through the ~170 question psychological evaluation by my office -- there's a chance you could too -- that's a big time-saver not to have to read all those silly psych. questions
Plan on going to Meps in a month already started the process with a recruiter hoping for the best
Just enlisted today at Meps, leaving on August 15 2025 Fort Benning 19K

Just went to Meps last week, it was really boring and I sat there doing nothing way longer than I should have. They actually omitted several the tests because most of the staff didn't show up and they were processing a navy group that was shipping that day. At least they were really chill since its Christmas, they let us watch Deadpool&Wolverine while we were there. Had to redo the asvab despite answering everything right.
It happens, you made it!
Heading to Meps in a few weeks. After some legal waivers. That needs to be signed and Ok’d. Took my Asvab scored a 76. After that looking to join as a 68W combat medic!! 🇺🇸🦅 looking to head out to boot by the end of January or early February!
No= Numerous Opportunities
Yes= Your Enlistment Stops here.
I wish I would've found this video sooner, I went through MEPS like 3 days ago. Luckily, everything was good and I'm heading to basic on July 8th.
i just said i smoked 100 times, then again i didnt see this video about waivers but i still got waived

honestly meps wasnt bad at all... i had already passed the asvab a week prior and got shiped out to a hotel (decent hotel nothing to crazy) and was up by 3 am with my roomie then was at the meps place by 6 ish.
was out by 12pm.. only things that i can say i did wrong was be an extreme yapper and got told off by the guy who runs the front desk.... not many complications but i have some wavers for my adhd. depression (from 2018 might i add) and a few other small things. idk when ima get updated but my mos is prolly gunna be a 92w water treatment if not something else in medical
hahaha
Something my recruiter told me is "no coming to jesus moments. They dont no anything other then what you told me."
Not sure he was supposed to tell me that but it saved me. Had a doctor come in and ask if anyone ever smoked pot and never said anything they could leave. Watched at least 6 people walk out because they second guessed themselves
As a DI i have called recruiters with the recruit on the line just to pressure the recruit

Keep us posted.
Going to Meps in like two weeks, wish me luck!
You'll be fine, let me know how it goes!
Yep! That sounds about right.
After a four year break in service re enlisting as 92F ship date Feb 16
Nice! What is 92F
I’m gonna meet you on the 26th I have an appointment set for the 26th in KC coming from Saint Louis
Oh, I'm no longer a recruiter. I haven't been in RS KC since 2016
Man I went through meps a couple months ago for airforce, passed everything fine but the one thing that was holding me up was peeing in the cup. I got a shy bladder and just couldn't pee and tried like 4 times, but when someone is watching it's just hard for me to piss for some reason, they made me come back the next day stayed in the hotel again and I was finally able to get it done after my 2nd try on the third day, I drank so much water that I was actually bout to explode was super nervous I wouldn't pass cause of that but I'm chilling now 😂
Went to Shreveport meps. Had to drink a good amount of water and had to take the hearing test
Dude is like the Tom

Thank you, what did you find the most helpful?
@ all of it! I’m in the process of enlisting into the Marines and my recruiter will most likely give me a MEPS date soon.
One more thing be ready to hurry up and wait. Ain’t no interview youngsters.

I was enlisted a few months ago. I gotta say after graduating basic 4-5 times everything in this video is legit.
Good to hear it's still relevant!
Can you make a video about security clearances ?

My recruiter did most of the paperwork and waiver work with me in his office. MEPS will probably be more of a breeze
Wish I was told that when I first tried to enlist

What about it?
What happens if you can’t pee when people are watching 😂 It’s an actual condition.
You‘ll have to chug a ton of water until your urge to pee is greater than your inability to pee in front of people. If you still can’t, you’ll have to go back another day and try again 🤷🏻♂️
@ damn, that’s crazy. I might be cooked at meps

Are there any specific medical conditions that MEPS will deny enrollment? Thanks
I have a video about this coming out Monday! Make sure you're subscribed with notifications on to see when it goes live :)
