Was about to give you a blast for being slow on getting this going - Then you drop the "good news". Really wish you get back to full health soon - Nothing like a positive mental attitude to get your health back. Just quietly I would be happy to drop by and give her a tickle up for you. 😁 It's a quick trip from Oz. Love your bike vids - So good to see someone think outside the box and see it through. Once all is happening again have you considered a vid comparing drag / lap times with a Busa, S1000RR or Blackbird. Would love to see the old girl embarrass some modern iron. Get well soon.
Thank you fella. I always see things through even if they turn out bad ideas and need changing along the way. Its how we learn after all. The bike will be finished this year as I'm determined to ride it. Its giving me a little motivation too which helps. I will be doing some top speed days with the bike and some drag runs and ¼ mile and 1 mile too. Mostly so I have some data for it. If I can get it though noise regs ill do some track days too. I own a blackbird so comparing it to one off them should be easy too lol
@@mr_mon-eye I have a standard 929 that I am very happy with as it's comfortable with plenty of power on road and while underpowered it's just so useable at the track. I lap with the same times as everyone else but that consists of me getting slaughtered on the straight and them clawing back again through the back corners lap on lap. So much fun The bike handles so well and I'm not shy to feed it on the twisties whereas the boy racers are squaring off their tyres on the straight and too scared to open up the modern bikes in the tight bits. The guys who know what they are doing are in another league... I've always wondered what a 929 would do with a modern engine. Yours certainly has the poke so I'm fascinated to know how it would run against modern bikes like an S1000RR or a Busa on a combination course with tight turns and long long straights. Can't wait to see your next vid. Cheers.
@@mark______5101 we shall find out soon once its had its final tune. I'm lucky as got a few bikes i can test it against in lap times and a few mates with modern bikes to see how it behaves too. On the road 95% off it is down to the rider rather than the bike and same on track days until your into the advanced groups.
@@FirstLast-tx3yj sorry for the delay reply been away in London. I would think its pretty hard to sleeve the block as I belive it has aluminium bores that are coated with something (nikasil). Rather than a removable sleeve. A re grind and bore is possible but will also need a re coating and wouldnt be cheep or cost effective over replacing it with a second hand block I would guess. If the bores are goosed I'd guess the pistons possibly aren't great too ? Personally I'd just replace the engine unless you want to go for more cc and compression
@@mr_mon-eye no worries mate. Do you remember the engine I talk to you about having trouble with the mechanic and all that trouble since 2018. I was able to take back the bike in pieces and the engine in pieces much worse condition than when I handed to him. The pistons are slapping and the walls are definitely not looking nice. I will buy a second full engine and I regret not doing that... i advise evrrybody who does not want to modify the engine to just buy a junkyard engine and call it a day. The motorcycle has been on the floor since 2018 if I had bought an engine I wouldnt have left room for error and would been done in 2 days. But i am taking this as a chance to tinker with the engine and do whatevrr I want to it. I was thinking maybe doing darton Mid sleeves but I have to see how much will that cost and bore it out to the maximum. Then maybe go turbo but I am not sure yet. What size is your turbo?
