I get why you did the e-magazine flip through before but this is so much more engaging watching as you flip through a physical copy. I was starting to drop of the metal wagon around this time, moving away from home, no mates into metal and no money to by the mags! Metal was still going strong back then as well, I've been having fun digging into what I missed.
Yeah Kerrang wasn't quite as heavy Metal as this and neither was I in the early 90s. I suppose it still came under the metal umbrella but can you really call Primus or Neds Atomic Dustbin metal?
Its great to see these mags again, I'm still waiting for you to show one I used to have. I remember zips all over clothing were a thing in the 80's plus, I had some pants that had about 8 zips not just the fly.Doro rocks that Zip top!.
@@metalmickey I bought those Metal Hammer off and on, and over here they arrived about 3 months old. If you could find them at all. Strangely enough I still buy random issues even now!.
I moved away from Metal Hammer in the early 90s as well. The band choice and even the layout of the magazine was so dated, even back then... nice to revisit though.
I actually thought this issue might have been a German edition before I looked closer. The German ones were slightly different. A trained eye could spot the differences but obviously this one had me fooled. I delved into Kerrang and then Terrorizer after Metal Hammer.
The German Metal Hammer gave a 1/7 rating to Exhorder's Slaughter in the Vatican in 1990, and I'm not about to forget it. 😂 Hot in the Shade is a good album! Cheers! 😊🤘
Good to see what was going on back then Mike. Yeah Doro has certainly given here life to the metal cause and it's all the better for it. Uriah Heep are still gong strong to this day, celebrating 20 years makes them seem young these days. I don't know if they're your cup of tea but their last album is really good.
Hi Mike!!! well that wasn't that bad at all..... and it was kind of cool seeing a couple of bands you don't see very often at least down here like Dog's D'amour, Victory (Herman Frank's band) or Artillery, mostly because getting UK or German magazines was very expensive or take a lot of time (months) to get them. cheers
Cheers dude. They're expensive these days, it takes me ages to find a cheap one which is why this is the first upload in a while but lots of people tend to like these videos
I stopped buying Metal Hammer back in around 1990 when they gave a review of Cannibal Corpse's debut Eaten back to life and gave it 1 out of 10 saying they would never get anywhere
@@metalmickey no I don’t think so, I just don’t have the time to make intelligent vids researching and talking about individual albums and I don’t want to just be someone who shows a record cover both sides and just says that it’s awesome or badass and then the next one. I put up every new album I pick up on insta and I’ll probably just do a monthly flick through of what I’ve scored for people who are interested and don’t use insta. I’ll still be watching and commenting on some vids.
Thanks for this! Loved reading that Dio article. It actually made me go back and listen to Lock up the Wolves again 🎸

I was at that clash of the titans gig at Wembley arena...happy days.

What years did you buy Metal Hammer? I looked back and this is the 25th issue I've done so still plenty to do if I can get hold of them. Cheers mate 🤘

I don't think I'd give it much more. I love the artwork but that's about it.
@@metalmickey To each his own, after all, there's something for everyone, and that's a good thing.
That Manitoba's Wild Kingdom album is a great one. Look into it, cool Twisted Sister and Manowar connection.
Oh shit you're absolutely right it's good. "Jamming Sister ey" 🤣

😂 yeah I've seen a few albums get 1 or 0 or whatever over the years. You might have given me a video idea there my man
£12.50 for a ticket to Clash of the Titans...wow! Doro was definitely the highlight of this issue 😂
Would love those prices these days!
You may have seen London on Noise Records before coz I’ve shown it 😝 decent hard rock album. Both CIA albums are good 🤘cool flip through
Ah fair enough then. Are you getting back on camera any time soon?

Doro is bang tidy. You should check the C.I.A. album out, it's great.
I'll have a listen Dave and see
@metalmickey I mean, it's no Survive, but it's better than John Connelly's solo record!
A Jeff Beck article in Metal Hammer?
Yeah they used to have alsorts back then
