I've been looking into rod holders and I had been looking at the Scotty Orca. Hadn't really found any review that made me say yeah the Orca is better than this or that, especially on the left side of the boat. Then I watch your video, when you pulled the rod out on that first hook up I did a double take. It looked butter smooth and there is nothing to fiddle with. I'm glad you confirmed my suspicions about the left side. Great video, super helpful. Oddly enough we have freakishly similar setups and by that I mean we have the same model Subaru outback same color. both hobies, but I have a yellow outback and I'm getting ready to build a very similar rod holder setup. You kinda sold me on the yack track, I was just going to mount the scotty mount but the track looked so solid I think that will make it easier to transfer it to my other boats. Thanks so much for the video and tight lines.
Love your videos, Tyler. I've been wanting to fish that lake for a while now, and I'm planning on doing it in 2019. Unfortunately there are few good kokanee lakes on the Olympic Penninsula where I live. Thanks for share your kayak setup. It's simple but nicely laid out.
Really enjoy your videos. Recently started chasing Kokes here in Central California and run similar rigging. If you don't mind, can you make a video of what you are seeing on your fish finder and tips on what to look for. Keep up the good work.
I have a crescent light tackle and I love it I use a Diawa north coast light rod with a diawa line counter reel with lead core line my question is I’m haveing a hard time determining strikes and I feel like I miss a lot of fish any advice on how to detect bites in here in Idaho so our Kokanee aren’t very big so any tricks you may have will be greatly appreciated
Last late summer I got a Pro 14 (used). But for the life of me, I have no idea how you determine your speed. Your note below sets a range - how do you track it? I have a Ray Marine fish finder but as far as I know, it does not show speed.
I like your kayak trolling fishing style and I like to do same fishing adventure you have. Which kayak would you recommend I should buy? I prefer kayak that I able to lift and car top on my Subaru Outback. I am a 60 years old man in good health. I live in state of WA and like to fish in lakes, Puget Sound, Columbia River may be off shore. I see that you use Hobie Revolution 13 for all type of water. Is there any pro and con that you have for Hobie Revolution 13? thanks
For versatility you can't beat the Revo. Its fast and stable. Unlike the Outback it doesn't have as much deck space but if you lay down enough gear trac you can make many configurations work. I love mine.
thank you so much for quick replying. As soon the weather is nice. I will go to Hobie dealer try out the Revo 13. I have been watching alot of your video, they are awsome and I love them all. It is so wonderful that you share your experience. Thru you that I learn how to fish properly and enjoy the fun of fishing. It seems Kayak trolling is the most fun and productive. Some other video you mention that you and wife moved to Idaho? How is fishing over there?
We moved back to Washington state and now live in the Brewster/Omak region. Plenty of good fishing and the Columbia is about 50 yards out my back door.
Hey, Tyler. Made reservations to fish on this lake in late June. What's your experience for that time of the year? Any advice on gear, depths, etc? I'll be in a PA 14 with a downrigger.
I have targeted kokes a few times here on the west side and have been unsuccessful thus far:( using a DR to get down and of coarse flat lining mostly using Mack’s lures and dodgers etc. and tried a couple different kind of recipes for corn:(. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated
Speed and depth are the most critical components. Kokes will rarely hit gear going faster 1.7 mph and I prefer to keep it in the 1.3 to 1.5 mph range. As for depth you really want to be right on them or just above them rather than below.
Hey this is from a early post of yours but it made me get a gmail acount if you are hitting them on your turns you are going to fast or wrong color i am wallowa lake kokanee man so could be wrong on other lakes
Very informative especially regarding extention arms and room for paddling. Thank you.
I’m trying to properly outfit my pontoon for Kokanee. I think I’ve about got it thanks to you for many of the ideas on your Yaks.

Where you at? I live in forks and feel your pain. Ever want a kayak fishing buddy let me know haha. I’m fairly new so would love some wisdom.
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing the info!
I enjoyed your video. I am rigging my kayak for Kokanee/trout fishing and was wondering what landing net you are using?

Will do
I really dig these vids
Thanks for sharing your setup. I need to sell a couple paddle kayaks, and settle into a Mirage drive. They're sweet!
What kind of reel are you using there? Does it have a line counter? Thanks!

Ditch the lead core and use droppers on 10 lb monofilament
Will that increase bite indication and also I may have to get another rod cause the north coast doesn’t have much backbone any suggestions?
I also see you like Headwaters kayak TH-cam channel Dans a good friend of mine that’s who I got the crescent off of small world right!

Tim Moore it should by default show on your gps map, tracking? On my lowrance I can edit overlays to add or delete. Hope this helps

I'm looking for cameras for my fishing adventures. I was considering 2 Go Pro 4. Which cameras do you use?
I film with Kodak SP1 action cam goo.gl/HLUbrf

have you found that a particular recipe works better than others?
My standard corn recipe is white shoepeg corn soaked in tuna oil overnight but I've used many variations including plain corn and done just as well.
Have you used a downrigger on your yak? If so, what kind?
I have but prefer not to. Instead I use sliding weights in front of my dodgers. Running up to 4 oz I can target Kokanee up to 80'.
transducer mounting?
I have a whole video on this topic. th-cam.com/video/QDXVmpA_4OE/w-d-xo.html
What kayak are you running now 10-27-23
Old Town Salty 120 PDL

what kinda pee bottle you use? JK lol
LOL
I use a paint bucket
Great camera work but zero useful information on how to rig or troll on a kayak.
