Hello everyone, I'm Rose from Uganda. My Chinese husband and our son (Anzai) live with me in a rural village in China. I share with you the joys of cooking and daily life in rural China!

The irony is Rose herself doesn’t like to eat the stinky tofu n yet she knows exactly how to make them. Shows an example of a labor of love from Rose for her beloved son and husband. I salute Anzai for loving the stinky tofu.
her husband was a professional chief, he taught her everything regarding asian dishes. and her channel is somewhat an income for her family as well. i love her and her family tho
I too know how to cook several dishes my family loves, but I will never eat them. Just to name a few: biscuits, chicken, eggs, sweet potato pie. Like Rose, I cook them to show my love to my family members because they love these dishes. Blessings.

Rose, I really feel for you having to make stinky tofu!! My older sister decided she wanted to make sauerkraut! The smell during fermentation process was enough to put me off of sauerkraut for the next 50 years! True story. You’re a good Mom!!

I believe that Anzai will appreciate how special you as his parents (and also as human beings) are - especially as he grows older, meets a wider variety of people, and has more experience. 💓💕

You did an amazing job Rose. The process of making the stinky tofu was not easy. I am glad to know that it was not stinky after you fried the tofu and it was delicious.
Oh Rose……I went to hot pot last month with my son, when he was visiting. He ordered the stinky tofu and when it came out, the aroma was very strong and bothersome. I didn’t want to try it, but I remembered always telling my son-when he was growing up-that he was never allowed to dislike any type of food, based on looks or smell. He had to take a bite, and if he liked it, great. If he didn’t, we’ll at least he tried it. Rose, I tried it, and I couldn’t. The taste was the same as the smell. 😢 For Anzai to like stinky tofu at such a young age, and for you as his mama to make it for him, even though the smell bothers you, speaks volumes of your love and devotion for your son! You’re a great mama, so please don’t ever think otherwise! ❤

@@julietjohnson9400 It is soybean puree with the water pressed out to form solidified blocks. It has a very neutral taste and soft texture (similar to the texture of jello). It takes on the flavor of whatever it is cooked with. It can be eaten as it is, or can be used in various recipes.
