    Regarding the diner scene:
    Not to be a contrarian, but Tarantino doesn't write scenes that don't serve the plot - at least not in this movie. The diner scene is extremely important, not just to introduce us to the gang, but to humanize them as just a group of working stiffs, talking about Madonna songs, and engaging in regular conversation. More importantly, it also contains an exchange that betrays the undercover cop, Mr. Orange (Tim Roth) to the audience, as he is the one that rats out Mr. Pink (Buscemi) who didn't tip . It is a small tell, but significant nonetheless.
