As some of you have asked I have now setup a 'Buy Me a Coffee' page for those who enjoyed this video or wish to support the channel in general - buymeacoffee.com/vressgames To be clear: No content will become pay-walled and this is purely to support the content I already create.
A couple little additions that, frankly, aren't necessary for total beginners, so I understand their exclusion: Rare Curios, one of the Creation Club creations everyone has for free, adds Flawed Varla Stones: functionally a re-usable Common soul gem Dropping a soul gem removes the soul in it, allowing you to clear lower-level souls from higher-level gems. Nelecar may make it sound like the Black Star can only hold black souls, but this is untrue, making the Black Star totally mechanically superior to Azura's Star.
Excellent video. Clear and informative. Just started yet another playthrough after a many year hiatus and had completely forgotten how enchanting worked. This told me everything I needed to know
@@VressGames never played it think I had a little go on the ps3 and quit it on the first lock 🙈😅 what was I thinking. Not enjoyed a game like this since Fable
Only been playing a few days - I was trying to disenchant everyday items like silver rings. And throwing away empty soul gems as I had no idea they could be refilled with the souls of people we are about to kill! (how is anyone supposed to know that?) also eating ingredients to save weight, like wheat, which I then needed for health potions! Soooooooooo much to learn.
Great video mate and thanks so much for the info! One question though: Is there a difference between disenchanting an item with a rather poor buff or one with the same buff but much stronger? Since this can only be done once (correct me if I am wrong), does this then have a permanent effect on the power of that particular buff that I can apply OR, regarding power of buffs applied, it depends only on: 1 - Level of the skill 2 - Perks acquired which strengthen the enchantments 3 - Type of gems used ??? Hope to have made myself understood 😬 Thanks again!
I think I understand the question, and if so then the answer is no. Once you learn an enchantment the strength of that enchantment when you apply it will only be dictated by the factors listed in this video. The strength of the enchantment on the item you learned it from doesn't factor in.
Just a quick question. i have learned enchentmant to incrise magicka regeneration by 50% and after few quest i got item that have magicka regeneration by 75% and game does not let me learn that enchentment. so is there a way to enchant new item with more than 50% of magicka regeneration?
Those are the same enchantment, just at different strengths. You can increase your enchanting power past 100 in a couple ways: Azdial's gear in Kolbjorn Barrow in the Dragonborn DLC island fortifies enchanting by 10 potions of fortify enchanting, they fortify enchanting.
So after you’ve left the enchanting table, is it supposed to forget the enchantments you had? I disenchanted a bunch of stuff yesterday and came back to the table today to find I had no enchantments.

Me who replayed Skyrim about 1000 times with a bagillion different mods: yes yes, teach me please.
Haha always something new to learn!

Thanks for the kind feedback - I’ll keep trying to improve them!
It’s winter time in Maine. That’s means skyrim, coffee, trees, beagle cuddles and serana
Sounds epic!

Same tho. Divinity 2 is my fave tho
Listening to this while decimating Shadowmere with flames
RIP Shadowmere
This game has blown my mind 😮
All these years later it still has so much to offer!

All part of the journey - and all part of the fun imo! But yeah, the game doesn’t always do a great job of teaching you these things.
This is a great tutorial! Very helpful☺
Glad it’s landing well :-)
Thanks for your help
You are very welcome!

No they should still be available - possibly a bug caused by a mod if they are disappearing
@@VressGames I’m still fairly new to the game and playing on Xbox, not using any mods 😞 (not sure if I can even use mods on here or not)
Watching this while grinding sneak in dragons reach
Cool stuff
Thanks!
So if i accidentally filled a grand soul gem with petty for example, i can't empty it?
If I remember rightly you can drop a soul gem to empty it
