Terry Kath! I want to wish the surviving members of Chicago well. Having said that, as a guitarist/musician since 1962 and having seen Chicago several times during the Terry Kath years and then a couple of times afterward, I will tell you this. Terry Kath was Chicago. The group members say the same thing. He was absolutely phenomenal and made me want to go home, take my guitars out in the back yard, build a nice big bonfire and burn them all! Yes, Terry Kath was that great people!
Growing up in the late 70's and 80's when I heard Chicago I'd turn the station bc I wasn't into pop. Had no idea who CTA was or Terry Kath until I came across the film his daughter did and man what a fool I was! Here was the best guitarist I've ever heard not to mention such a soulful voice! It's also opened my eyes to other guitarists I otherwise wouldn't have listened to, but none like Terry. His music and playing should be more throughly explored imop!
This is awesome. They all have such chops. Close your eyes and think of the jazz band Passport, and you can hear Chicago's influence on their sound just a few years after this.
One of the best.... vintage Chicago kicked major a#$. While I'm familiar with the hits... listening to this "album" (CD) front to back. Damn. Absolutely brilliant.
Oddly, this sounds like they were composing in a "parallel universe" with Joe Zawinul and Weather Report! No rippin' each other off, but manifest Karma in Simulthought! Thank you for posting!
God this is so great! It is hard to believe that the fans didn't want to hear the jazz work that Chicago presented. According to Robert in the documentary Now More Than Ever, he said the fans "weren't buying it" . They just wanted to hear the hits.....
Tengo entendido que Devil sweet , fue publicada en 1974 en Chicago VII , es una excelente muestra de un jazz moderno y vanguardista ! Saludos desde México 🖖😃🇲🇽

TK was the best! When I turn friends on to Chicago's deeper cuts, I get the raised eye brow then they always turn into smiles and a nod of approval.

I saw them in March of 75 in Henry Levitt Arena in Wichita, Kansas... one of the 3 best concerts I have ever seen...
WOW! Danny Seraphine was AND still Is a phenomenal musician AND drummer
And whoever said he needed a click track was so far off base. It was a shame he got treated like that.

These guys could do it all,
Too bad that there's so much animosity between the original members.
This is awesome and a great example as the why I would argue Chicago was originally a prog rock band.
Man these cats throw Down harder than miles Davis’s band. H o l y 🐄
back when music meant something
Their best years
Great song should have been on a album sooner 👌.
