I always thought Thundercracker was cool & had one of the best names of any of the Transformers. I never really viewed him as a grunt, maybe just as like a lower level lieutenant, because along with Skywarp they were clearly more skilled than most other Decepticons. I do find his "sonic boom" ability funny though, because wouldn't all of the seekers have been able to fly that fast to generate a sonic boom, or if not was Thundercracker the fastest out of all the seekers or even Decepticon plane types? Unless his "sonic boom" ability is something different entirely from him just flying really fast. Either way, Thundercracker is still cool.
Funny thing about the sonic ability, Soundwave has a similar power. Could have actually been Soundwave's power Megatron was using, but Starscream assumed it was Thundercracker's. Megatron did use something similar to Thundercracker's incendiary blast during that battle, though.
A rivalry between a space-jet Aussie and larry the cable space-jet is something that I surprisingly enjoy in TF Cybertron lol. It's such a shame that Bob's G1 Thundercracker bio was never truly explored during it's og run except for that one instance in that episode. My favorite seeker! It's hard for me to pick a favorite between G1 and Armada. The only reason it's difficult is because Armada Thundercracker is actually Starscream. But Armada gave us debatably the best version of Starscream. In some ways, I actually feel that blue Starscream might have had some influence on other works in that Thundercracker is loyal to the Decepticons to a point, but when it comes to dealing with Universe ending threats like Unicron, he knows to do what's right. That sort of mentality pairs very well with how Armada Starscream was actually written more like Dinobot from Beast Wars as opposed to being his normal cowardly and treacherous self.

Thundercracker is definitely one of my top favourite characters. Cyberverse thundercracker is probably my favourite and reminds me of skywarp in personality
Wow, the memories! 00:07 I remember drooling over this exact image when I was a kid. I remember getting sunstreaker from a macys or sears. My brother got thundercracker.
IDW1 Thundercracker is the best. I can't believe how that continuity made some characters like him, characters I'd never much thought about, who were rarely spotlighted otherwise, into my absolute favorites! I still think about him and his dog 🙂
While I didn't like a lot of what IDW came up with, there were some things that I really appreciated and hope to continue in the next comics. E.g. Thundercracker's personality. I also liked his friendship with Buster and Marissa Fairborn and the hinted (but complicated) camaraderie/friendship between the Seekers (TC, Skywarp AND Starscream). And I definitelly would love to read more about that in the next comic run.
I have a special place in my heart for Thundercracker, mostly down to the fact that he was my very first Transformer toy when I was 8. I wish he was better utilized in both the comics and the G1 cartoons. But I love the guy!
Stephenson voiced Mr slate and was the longest actor to reprise his role up into the 2000 since the rest of the original Flintstones cast passed Hanna Barbera loved working with Stephenson he played many villians on Scooby doo
I dunno if it’s the color blue on him, but those jets look absolutely amazing! That toy line at around the 65-70% mark of the video, the 3rd,4th, second to last and last of the top row were killer. Would love to get just 1 of that selection. As a kid, my uncle took me to Sears, and I chose Skywarp. But never found Starscream or Thundercracker in Sears, Kay Bee Toys, Jitty’s Toys, or Toys R Us, EVER. And back in the day, Puerto Rico toy stores were packed with Gijoe & Transformers toys. I miss being a kid. But nowadays I meet people like this gentleman in conventions, and talk about those toys.
My favorite is his Hollywood arc. I love it when side characters get meaningful or entertaining backstory. As an example, my favorite character from FFXIV Stormblood was Fordola. A native of a land conquered by the main enemy, she served in their army. After fighting her, you learn of the tale about her family that molded her personality and led to her joining enemy forces. I love that kind of thing.
Reminds me. I still think Skywarp became Cyclonus and was the first instance of a Transformer undergoing a personality change (Update. I wonder if there's enough to say about Transformers undergoing personality changes that it could get its own discussion video)
Geeeeee wun! I always found it amusing how Thundercracker pretty much got stuck trying to herd cats errr I mean take charge of repairing the undersea base whilst Megatron was "dead" (Final Fantasy Reraise/Auto-Life lol) and Starscream was off gallivanting with Dr. Arkeville. Even Soundwave wasn't really having that lol.
I have pretty vivid memories of the 80s, (most are a blur, but for some things they are vivid. So though I was a toddler during G1, . I just knew either the seekers toys were always sold out at toys r us and local general stores, or overpriced for my parents to afford and they only got me toys when it was a holiday or birthday. My schoolmates and neighbors would have all 3 seekers and I'd play with them, good times lol. I remember the kids inc myself, always thought Thundercracker or any seeker were cool. I'm going to get the masterpiece and 3rd party seekers as my next goal lol.
Thundercracker in G1 is always fun as a brute that is harsh to everyone, especially picking on the little autobots, but whenever he and Skywarp were working together in battle against the autobots, it was always fun!
My favorite seeker, he’s blue and grey (no matter whether it’s dark or light blue) I love that color scheme! I love G1 Thundercracker first of all and I love the blue Starscream recolor being explored again in Animated and Aligned Thundercracker. It was beautiful how he was characterized in the IDW comics, I hope a future Transformers series could explore that!
I never realised that Thundercraker had so much fiction about him other than G1. He's never been one of my favorite, but I couldn`t pass the Earthrise release. Fantastic toy. Great retrospective Rodimus, as usual. 1.3K to 100k, looking good.
Thundercracker was such a boss in the War for Cybertron game. He was a level headed scientist that thought of conflict as mere chemistry and psychics, and was hesitant about the Deceptions more brutal and unscrupulous methods. He also displays little malice towards his enemies and took no joy from battle since he had high standards.
If thundercracker had appered in tfp he will looked like cross between g1 and live action movie comic with spiked shoulders different to transformers prime Megatron design
I do a small RPG with Transformers and Thundercracker had become the stand-out villain, due to me portraying his real, conflicted, personality. He had temporarily sided with the Autobots to prevent destruction of the inhabitants of a planet, but clearly wants no part of their team. It makes for fascinating dialogue.
I love Macross. So when I saw thundercracker, I want one so bad as a kid. I love blue. He reminded me of Maximilian Jenius' custom mech, the VF-1J Valkyrie Maximilian Jenius Custom. Of course Jetfire is also cool. His original design was basically a veritech fighter. I just don't like big jets.
I've always loved all the seekers. Some people are huge Starscream fans which I get I love Starscream, but Thundercracker and Skywarp are awesome. Highly under used
I just grabbed a G1 re-issue Starscream from Walmart that is painted in more cartoon accurate colors. I'd really love it if they did an cartoon accurate Thundercracker like that soon. It seems like a no-brainer but these days you never know.
One of my favorite Seekers alongside slipstream, starscream, and thrust and I wouldn't mind hasbro making Thundercracker a cowboy again. Also does jetfire count as a seeker when he was with the Decepticons?
7:49 "smoking pile of ash... working to gain attention of Megatron...one risk too many." Wait a minute... this unintentionally foreshadowed armada Starscream's sacrifice...
Yep. It's almost as if it was written to BE Powerlinx Starscream. But like G1 Galvatron, his identity as a "new" character was really just because they didn't want to give it away.
Little detail I noticed that no version of Thundercracker seemed to take from his toy bio is that he finds a life without meaning to be excruciating. A version of him that wants to be convinced of the Decepticon cause while strongly believing they're too superior to anyone they're fighting for the conquest to have any meaning would be something to watch. It may even repaint his friendship with Skywarp as using his comrade to get some enjoyment from the warfare and distract him from his doubts.
IDW Thundercracker was great, because he wasn't just a recolored Seeker, he had his own personality

As an example, my favorite character from FFXIV Stormblood was Fordola. A native of a land conquered by the main enemy, she served in their army. After fighting her, you learn of the tale about her family that molded her personality and led to her joining enemy forces. I love that kind of thing.
I wonder if we'll see Thundercracker be like his good guy counterpart.
Thundercracker was always my favourite Seeker.
Reminds me. I still think Skywarp became Cyclonus and was the first instance of a Transformer undergoing a personality change (Update. I wonder if there's enough to say about Transformers undergoing personality changes that it could get its own discussion video)
Thundercracker is Still one of my favorite Transformers.
Great video…can’t wait for your next retrospective!
I quite like seekers with defined character traits.. they can't all be drones.. G1 Thundercracker seems like a good hang lol
*Amazing Retrospective* 😊😊😊😃😃😃🍸🍸🍸
My favorite seeker, he’s blue and grey (no matter whether it’s dark or light blue) I love that color scheme! I love G1 Thundercracker first of all and I love the blue Starscream recolor being explored again in Animated and Aligned Thundercracker. It was beautiful how he was characterized in the IDW comics, I hope a future Transformers series could explore that!
Good job on this retrospective Rodimus Primal!
Fun fact: Thundercracker in the WFC game also voices Old Joseph joestar in JOJO pt3
OH MY GOD!
Thundercracker joestar lol.
YES!!! My favorite Transformers get's a great retrospective!
Awesome retrospect as usual! I loved G1 Thundercracker and all the layers of his personality. He always reminded me of a no nonsense type of warrior!
He was my favorite Seeker besides Starscream & Skywarp
The Original version of ThunderCracker is the Best G1 And The Earthrise ThunderCracker and he's Masterpiece Crimson Wings .
I never realised that Thundercraker had so much fiction about him other than G1. He's never been one of my favorite, but I couldn`t pass the Earthrise release. Fantastic toy. Great retrospective Rodimus, as usual. 1.3K to 100k, looking good.
My favorite Seeker.
Thundercracker was always my Mummy’s favourite :3
Thundercracker is the best Artwork Model
Thundercracker was such a boss in the War for Cybertron game. He was a level headed scientist that thought of conflict as mere chemistry and psychics, and was hesitant about the Deceptions more brutal and unscrupulous methods. He also displays little malice towards his enemies and took no joy from battle since he had high standards.
G1 Thundercracker was my first ever Decepticon.
Honestly? A Larry the Cable guy accent and mannerism fits Thundercracker more than I’d initially think
I always thought that Dreadwing was meant to be Thundercracker in Prime. Escpecially when it was mentioned that Skyquake was meant to be Skywarp.
If thundercracker had appered in tfp he will looked like cross between g1 and live action movie comic with spiked shoulders different to transformers prime Megatron design
Amazing design but my always favorite one is Skywarp
11:55 A Thundercracker that turns into a car? Preposterous!
Nice! I’ve definitely been looking forward for this one!
making him a traitor but for the right reasons is a interesting way to make him more unique and create parallels with Starscream
My favorite thundercracker is g1
I've always loved all the seekers. Some people are huge Starscream fans which I get I love Starscream, but Thundercracker and Skywarp are awesome. Highly under used
What ever happened to Thunder Cracker & Skywarp?
They were in War for Cybertron but not Fall of Cybertron & Transformers Prime.
I just grabbed a G1 re-issue Starscream from Walmart that is painted in more cartoon accurate colors. I'd really love it if they did an cartoon accurate Thundercracker like that soon. It seems like a no-brainer but these days you never know.
Update: Hasbro Pulse has a G1 Thundercracker in cartoon accurate colors up for preorder today. Great success!
This is why I love TC
Thundercracker is my favorite Decepticon.
One of my favorite Seekers alongside slipstream, starscream, and thrust and I wouldn't mind hasbro making Thundercracker a cowboy again. Also does jetfire count as a seeker when he was with the Decepticons?
7:49 "smoking pile of ash... working to gain attention of Megatron...one risk too many."
Wait a minute... this unintentionally foreshadowed armada Starscream's sacrifice...
Yep. It's almost as if it was written to BE Powerlinx Starscream. But like G1 Galvatron, his identity as a "new" character was really just because they didn't want to give it away.
@@RodimusPrimalI'm pretty sure it's becuz the JP show runners just did something different, instead of adding TC to the cast.
My favourite seeker. Glad his unique personality was brought to life by IDW's first take on the Transformers from 2005 to 2018.
Scourge and the Sweeps ain't nothing compared to the old Decepticon jets
Good stuff I think that this was one of the first transformers toys that I got in '84
