You should buy a chibson just to see if it's a good "starter" guitar for the price point and to compare it to an actual gibson, no other youtube channel has done something like thay
@@nobodyspecial6881 well I mean, it completely changes the look of a guitar like Paul Gilbert's Mikro signature it makes the guitar look more interesting, but the es les paul gibson did a while ago, they did a limited run with no f wholes, I wouldve want one of them becuz they show off the flame maple top more
I feel like probably the main hate was the fact that stuff like this has been in the partscaster realm for years just like tele jazzmasters (jazzmaster with a tele configuration) and there is just something that feels unwanted about Fender doing official versions of them. so in that way, they aren't even recycling themselves, they are just lifting DIY/Partscaster guys ideas.
@@dannyblau3850 The concept was similar to partscasters though I've never seen these particular designs before. At least Fender did their own thing with them and didn't just straight up release copies of the JazzCaster.
The strat/tele mash is so beautiful! I don't know how anyone can puke on them. I can see the purest not liking it but it's so beautiful. If I had the cash I would have 1 or 2.
I have one of the original “mashups” ...a Squier 51’ 😁. I love that thing , Strat body , Tele neck ,P-Bass pickguard, and my fave thing : The input jack on the side ! I swapped the pickups and it sounds killer too. I believe there was a Fender version years later called the Pawn Shop 51’ as well.
Those are all great guitars! I don't know why anyone wouldn't like them. I suppose there are a lot of people out there that have little or no imagination. I particularly like the telestrat. Very nice!
The "stratele" was kinda cool. I dug the strat style tremolo vs the jazz master style. The maple neck looked pretty sweet too. Really a best of both worlds Fender.👍
i wish I could play that seafoam jazz / tele. Something I noticed was how far back the bridge was on the Jazzmaster / tele. The telecaster in a stratocaster body's bridge was considerably further away from the the edge of the body
I bought a green one two months ago, I think it’s the best guitar Fender has put out in years. I did change the bridge with a Mastery as the Mustang bridge that comes with even the most expensive Fender offsets is a cheap bridge, after that it’s a fantastic guitar.
I kinda like the Fender hybrids. I don't really get why it's so outlandish to some people. Seems like a logical extension of a company that focuses on a few designs that have very distinct shapes and configurations. Just play mix and match for those who some of this and some of that. Although I like it more when they come up with an genuinely new body shape like the Meteora.
I just had a guitar shipped to me with not enough padding at the bottom. It was shipped without a case, wrapped in bubble wrap, and with only packing peanuts inside. Needless to say, when it hit something hard, the bottom strap button went right through the bubble wrap and broke through the cardboard box, pushing the strap button into the wood and carving out a nice, neat little hole in the bottom of the semi-hollow body
Ha!! Crazy that you got those guitars from Strait Music. I used to live right down the street from them and these guitars definitely sat around for *a while* along with some 2017 Gibsons. I've probably played both of those teles!
Strattela indeed. Loved it. The name sounds like a candy bar. Edit: I had almost forgotten but Carvin sold a "Bolt - T" that was the same configuration and could be customized in a hundred different ways. Kiesel may still offer it.
I love most of the Fender alternate universe stuff as well as the new models like the Meteora. Squire should do a version of that as I don't have Trogly cash to splash out every day on a whim! Lol. Cheers Austin lad.
tear drop bursts really make the guitar look like it has a beer belly ahaha the telemasters wen't too striking to me, then the tele-strat came out and I was floored. THATS definitely a weird one!
I liked the Parallel Universe guitars Fender did. The biggest issue is that these guitars are $2k for one. I think they should have been $500-$700 new. These are cool as off brand type of deals but not super premium Fenders.
Always love your enthusiasm for all things guitar but can't cosign on the tele/jazz hybrids. The tele/strat reminds me of a bullet I used to have, it had a painted metal pickguard that also served as a bridge.
It's a "stelacaster". The. Mint pickguard is actually a vintage color that you learn to appreciate. Fender custom shop have some amazing guitars too! Can't wait until you get into pre-cbs stuff, I could never afford one, but the are so cool.
Think the check in would definitely be a good idea. I have been wondering why you don't (on screen at least) check the neck and truss rod, nut and tuners - they would be one of the first things I checked as well as damage to the headstock and neck joint (which you do feature). If a Gibson nut is poorly cut or replaced, with the acute headstock angle you will likely having tuning issues and either a really high action or fret buzz Being wood in can expand and contract in transit and climate change so components like the tuners can become loose, again leading to tuning stability issues. Anyway, look forward to that.
I can relate to having guitars no one wants. My collection is the literal "Island Of Misfit Guitars" that are worth $0 in resale value but priceless to me.
I have that same box knife. At rest, the blade is tucked in the handle. When you squeeze it, the blade comes out in three different depths set by a thumbwheel, and you can also lock it. He releases his grip before the knife gets close to him, so he's pretty safe.
a jazz tele, interesting idea. I have one of the pawn shop series they put out awhile back. it's a strat with a tele neck and tele electronics. nice guitar and a cool idea to mash them together(so to speak).
Hey Trogly, another great video. Looking forward to how you evaluate a guitar. Could you do a video on how to store or keep a guitar in different climates. I'm 55 and have my experiences. Want to hear your opinion. I had a nice laquer paint craze overnight in the cold. Thanks.
Omg you bought those fenders from my local music store and I have played and put back all of them haha! I was tempted the turquoise jazzmaster tele but passed. Hope they find a good home Ps I don’t think I was one of the ones to put dings on any of those guitars lol
I really love the Jazzmaster Tele, especially in surf green and Daphne blue. If I do end up getting a new guitar at any point it's probably gonna be one of them.
Smelled like a cat litter box! I have bought guitars that I had to scrub my hands numerous times to get rid of the smell and wipe down with scented wipes. I’ve had the cats that sprayed a bridge that cause it to rust . An smoker guitars that turn paper towels brown immediately.

There is no such thing as an unwanted surf green guitar! 🥰🍔
Yeah, first thing I thought when I saw the thumbnail

* Seafoam Green.
I would maybe get mine in that colour its a Gio, i don't like guitars with the plastic overlays, they ruin the lines.
Green just sounds better:)
Forget the teles, the cleanest thing in this video were those packing peanut skills. I was genuinely impressed.
I love watching your shows. It must be like Christmas Day everyday in the trogly household👍🍻
The pulling the guitar out of the box full of peanuts, that was the most impressive thing of all time
I genuinely love those Jazzmaster Teles and never understood the gate they got

On their own they look pretty fine but if you put them next to other guitars they look just uggly to me.

That tele-strat hybrid has been on my radar for a while now, i abolutely love the looks of it.
Me too!

Same here!!
theres one thats mixed the other way round in my local music shop
I thought Yamaha and Carvin made some models along those lines.
I love the Tele/Strat mashup. I've built several like it over the years and players always comment on them when I'm out and about playing.

Can't wait to see your reviews of the unwanted Parallel Universe Fenders . I would have loved to buy any one of them if I had the money.
They see those mint green guards are sought after in the old ones that don't look too bad though I could think it could be worse
I thought you were doing record scratch sound effects when you were checking out the Slash Les Paul, but it was the guitar case. XD

Fun episode, but agree with the comments - Jazz Teles are cool not ugly! Interested to see your review of the guitar.
I get the feeling from the comments that they weren't unwanted. Just nobody wanted to pay what Fender was asking for them
