Tensions arise when Yelena reveals to Pixis that she held secret meetings with Eren in the months leading to his infiltration of Marley. Onyankopon tells Hange of how Yelena would kill any Marley volunteers who doubted her loyalty to Zeke. Mikasa and Armin meet with Supreme Commander Zackly, who suspects Eren of colluding with the volunteers and being controlled by Zeke. A bomb goes off killing Zackly and three Military Police soldiers, which riles up protestors to fight back against the government for a New Eldian Empire. Eren and his supporters in the Survey Corps escape from prison. The Military Police reveal to the Survey Corps their intentions to take Eren's Founding Titan, dubbing his supporters the "Yeagerists." Since the exact number of Yeagerists and their identities are unknown, Pixis decides that the government will make a deal with Eren using Zeke's location as a bargaining chip. Azumabito begs Mikasa to join Hizuru if Paradis were to fall to war; Mikasa refuses, citing her loyalty to seeing the Eldian people to a bright future. Hange suspects that Yelena and the volunteers have had a great influence on the goings behind the scenes on Paradis. The Blouse family, Gabi, and Falco prepare to meet Nicolo for a private dinner. A disguised Pieck watches the commotion unfold, already having infiltrated Paradis.

I do believe he’d be more willing to take action than Hange and Pyxis, but sacrificing the entire rest of the world for just Paradis just doesn’t seem like something he would get behind. How can you save humanity by wiping out 95% of it? We’ll never know for sure, but I believe Erwin would find a better solution than either extreme of what Eren and Armin want.

I don't think it makes sense to make a movie, AoT is a series, it is meant to be watched or read every week or month.
Also a movie usually lasts like what, 2 hours, 3 hours maximum, so the equivalent of 9 episodes worth of content. That's not nearly enough to cover the second part of the manga

To answer your question: There's no way they can wrap the story up in 4 episodes. I kinda know what they are building up to and booooii it's going to be epic/heartbreaking/unreal/mad. I expect like another 10 or 12 episodes or a movie for about 180 to 200 minutes. I'm fine either way.

They did it because it was more realistic to how someone would put on a jacket. Imo, some of the fans waaay overhyped the jacket scene, I honestly didn't get the overhype. In the manga, I thought it was cool. But I was much looking forwards to the bomb scene, so I think they did the jacket fine.

As a manga reader, there definitley has to be a part 2! Episode 16 of this supposed "Part 1" should roughly end at chapter 116 (from what I've gathered from the pacing/released episode titles). We do know there's 139 chapters in total so there is still about 22 chapters left to adapt in the anime. And boy oh boy you're in for the wildest of rides so please buckle up! Btw Thank you for your reactions, I binged all from start to finish. You're an absolute delight!

It's Darius Zackly in the English manga release; the Japanese language doesn't distinguish between the "R" and "L" sounds, so it's literally a shot in the dark which one is which when translating English names from Japanese, that's why there's never consistency with names like Zackly's.

@DapperDarius u can read my comment, it won't contain spoilers i'll just talk about chapter numbers.based on the episode titles, episode 16 will end at chapter 116.the manga will have in total 139 chapters .so yeah after ep 16 is done there are 23 chapters left to adapt(117-139).23 chapters with a good pacing is about 12-14 episodes.so yeah a part 2 with 12-14 episodes has to be done for the story to be complete, they will probably announce it when episode 16 airs...
Should be obvious by now that there's no way to end it in ep 16 so a part 2 likely next year. There's also confirmed a special panel to be held on the day ep 16 airs with the VA's likely for the announcement

As a social studies student, I love the way you describe Gabi's severe indoctrination as a large wall. In most cases, indoctrination is simply a coping method for victims of past trauma (i.e, Dr. Yeager). The result isn't something that's easily reversed, BUT it is possible. Children who've been taught to conform to their parents ideology' create a similar mental block, or wall for whichever thing triggers them, which in Gabi's case is the subject of Eldians. When outsiders of opposing mindsets come across this mental block, its best not to confront it directly, through a forceful method like argument, because this in itself could potentially trigger negative memories of being indoctrinated from the past. However, how Kaya's managed to do this isn't necessarily bad, as you need the opposing party to realize your true beliefs, and subsequently intentions to have a sound argument. Still, the proper way to do this is shown by example through Falco. He doesn't objectify the subject of Eldians to Gabi, rather lets her experience the world herself, which slowly exposes Gabi's mentality and inherently flawed ideology naturally. Once the victim sees this, they begin to open up.

The Manga will however finish with Chapter 139, so that means that we will get like 12 more Episodes, if not a Movie/s.

A part-2 season is very likely, and the suspected cutoff point is good. but if they tacked on 1 or 2 more episodes, they could have adapted 2 absolutely PERFECT season-ending scenes

Just a little bit of info on whether or not this season will wrap up the story - it won't, not even by a longshot. It's going to end when (what at least I consider to be) the final arc begins. I can't say for sure what the final scene of this season will be, but given the average page-to-runtime ratio there will likely be roughly about 9-10 episodes worth of content remaining at that point, assuming that ratio won't be radically changed. The final act is very "visual" at times, with lots of large panels containing rapid or low amounts of dialog that will likely flow much faster than average when it comes to the page-to-runtime ratio, but it's still seemingly unlikely that they'll take the remaining four episodes far enough into the source material to be able to wrap it up with a concluding movie. While I won't rule that out at this point, given how much a movie-project-level budget would do for the poor souls that have to adapt the final act into anime, I'm still leaning towards there being a part 2. Whether they go for a "part 2" or a cinematic conclusion it would still be valid to label this "the final season".
The Darrius/Dallas and Zachary/Zackly thing is a language translation issue. In Japanese there is no "L" sound.
Sometimes they exchange "R" or "RR" sound to mimic "L." Plus, out of 3 different systems of writing, there is nothing that makes that sound.
There is most definitely gonna be a part 2 to the final season. Hajime isayama himself said that the FULL attack on titan story will be animated so no worries there. I just hope they give the animators of part 2 more time to perfect it.

After seeing the names of the upcoming episodes (since they're always names taken from manga chapters) they are ending these 16 episodes "sooner" than some people thought. With more than 20 manga chapters after that point, I really hope we're just going to have a part 2 of the anime, since that's actually a lot of content to just move on to movies to finish the adaptation.
