I gotta admire your cable management, my dude. You had one cable! 😂 *joking about you wrapping the USB extension completely around all the perimeter of the keyboard side of the expansion cards. ❤
Just for clarity, you don't need to keep putting the harddisk copy you want to run in the 1st position using the Booti Configuration. If you want to run the image in position 2, just press "2" during the countdown. Booti can boot up to 8 different images by selecting 1-8 during the countdown.
Love the BOOTI - mine is in an Apple IIgs, and it is happy to boot GS/OS as well as all the games in existence. Along with Floppy Emu for the IIc, I’m covered!
@@MrLurchsThings I first released the card a little over a year ago. Increased demand and covid shipping issues both sending cards and getting parts has limited my ability to supply cards.
For those not afraid by a less "politically correct" BOOTI configuration utility, try CTRL-P while in the configuration utility. It will then display the real "copyright" and author of the firmware (who is me btw).
The booti is an awesome device. Got mine recently as well. It's interesting to see all the games that were ported to it. Do you know of anyone currently selling a joystick adaptor to use USB joysticks?
Its on my list, I had a prototype of a wii chuck controller to apple II adapter working but I abandoned it because the cheap controllers on ebay were junk. I'm waiting on some usb controllers from ebay to see if they are good enough to make a revised project worthwhile.
Different function. Or at least a different way of going about it. Re: ADTPro; well, obviously no need for a serial/audio connection back to a main computer. Re: Floppy Emu, like I said - think of this as a HDD emulator, than a FDD emulator.
Wow, great video. It seems this is what I have been looking for. Quick question since, as you said, this is an HD emulator. I was about to buy Reactive micro drive, precisely to use as an SDD for my IIgs. But it uses CF cards, and to get them accesible from outside, doing exactly what you did with the USB, is expensive. For some reason the CF extender cable and adapter are almost as expensive as buying another micro drive. The micro drive is known for its “speed”, si how would the performance of the booti compare to it? I would rather wait and get the booti if the speed is comparable to the micro drive
I honestly couldn’t give you a comparison, but the limitation is more likely to be the Apple II’s bus speed. But I’m certainly happy with the simplicity of the Booti.
Is there a Mac alternative to Ciderpress for those of us who dont use PC's? Pretty cool little device, can't wait until they are available here in the states.
Is there any way to reach David other than Facebook? I'm not on Facebook any more and it seems silly ordering one from the US just to have it delivered to Australia.
@@MrLurchsThings thanks for the video. Always nice to see another Aussie apple ii. I've just started restoring my iic, and thinking of buying a iie so I can run expansion cards. Can that software in your video write WOZ files or only DSK images to floppy? ie can copy protected images or non standard disks be written to floppy. I know I can't do that in adtpro

Sorry yes, and the main point of the countdown, do give you a chance to do this. (Probably should have been clearer on that)

What a fantastic little device. You Aussies always get the good stuff first!
I think this has been out there for a while

haha! An Easter Egg! How appropriate!
That's a super cool card! I like the extension cable you added as well, that adds a lot of utility!
Great video-very informative! Thank you!
Nice instruction video for setting up discs using booti to assist transfer software.
Mr. Lurch! Haven't even watched the vid, don't care, glad you uploaded a thing! Thank you!
Well done mate. Great vid!
Excellent video and product!

Do you know of anyone currently selling a joystick adaptor to use USB joysticks?
Haven’t looked honestly. I’m in the process of making a DIY 15pin/PC joystick adaptor.

Very nice guide, thanks!
Hi, nice video! Are booti cards still available to buy?
Thicc BOOTI for the COMPOOTI
Great video ! Thanks !
Another awesome video! I’m wondering how this differs from using say a floppy emu and ADTPro?

2:20 This is stupid. Why isn't the board designed with the USB port on the other side, so it fits in the rear panel right away?

I honestly don’t know. I haven’t been a Mac user for quite a while.
@@MrLurchsThings fair enough :) I quit using Windows when MS EOL'd Windows 7.
Is this method available for the Apple IIc? I don’t have any other way to create 5.25 floppies for the IIc
Nope. With the IIc you’re only option is the drive switcher from BMOW and then something like a Floppy Emu.

Do you need another apple iie to be able to use this with a iic?
There is no way of installing it into a IIc
