Quick question I just purchased the ati super damper and was wondering if I leave off the power steering pulley do I still need to put the flat washers on the bolts before installation? The bolts are like a 10mm 12pt small bolt .p/n 918476 if i remember correctly thank you
Backlash city Fishing unfortunately I’ve never installed the street damper and don’t know. I’d assume there may be balance issues. I’d suggest calling ATI’s technical support.
If you removed the hub from the pulley and heated it up to expand it, would it slide onto the crankshaft without having to press it on? Then put on the outer shell separately?
@@RelentlessRacingAJ It's on a Subaru, I don't want to have to remove the motor to install it. I don't think there is enough clearance to use a puller installer tool without pulling motor. Not sure if all of them are press fit or some will just slide on.
Patrick C. Ah... I had this issue on my Integra. After I installed the motor in the car w the ATI damper on it I needed to remove it on the car. I put the car on jack stands, supported the engine w a jack, loosened all the engine mounts, removed the engine mount closest to the ATI damper, & slowly lowered the motor till I had enough clearance to remove and install the ATI damper.
Patrick C. 2 other things comments... make sure you have the correct crank bolt adapter for the ATI installation tool and don’t forget to torque the crank bolt to spec after installation. Some torque their crank bolts w an impact gun. I opted to hold the crank pulley w a large strap wrench and torque to spec
Sorry for the late response. It's an SAE adapter which comes with the kit... I don't remember which thread it is, but it is very close to the S2000 crank bolt thread. Unfortunately, ATI doesn't make one. Although, I used it to install and uninstall a few S2000 ATI pulleys. I will be machining the correct adapter for the S2000 soon. I just finished the adapter for the B-series. Unfortunately, ATI doesn't make one for the S2000 or B-series cranks.
Mr334cobra cool. Did u purchase just the adapter or did u have to buy the whole install tool? Also, what’s the thread on the opposite side of the M14 x 1.25 adapter?
I just bought the adapter....and to be honest about the other side, I am completely unsure because I totally galled the other side threading it onto my pulley installer/uninstaller. I didn't care because I knew I was only using it for that. It's a coarser thread, I can tell you that much.

You can also put a rope in one of the spark plug holes to keep the engine from turning.
Is there any reason a generic crank pulley install kit can't be used? Not looking to spend $190 for a one time use tool.
Just to clarify, are you talking about using a generic crank pulley tool for installation or removal?

Patrick C. I honestly don’t know. Is there a reason you wouldn’t install it properly?

Which adapter thread size was that? Because I am looking for M14x1.25

Thank you! I ended up getting what I needed from fluidampr. Nobody makes m14x1.25 except them that I could find! CRAZY!

Mr334cobra who did u purchase it from specifically? I ask bc I called fluidamper and they wouldn’t sell the adapter by itself
What are the benefits of the ATI damper?
knocks out vibrations that harms oem oil pumps
Nigel Charles so a lightweight crank pulley may not be a good idea?
