The 72 Torino reminded me of a 68-year-old Cutlass 442. I was surprised Ford reshaped the car so that it resembled a GM car. I really liked the front of the Torino in 72. When my dad started working as a salesman for a Ford dealership, his first demo he drove was a 73 Gran Torino they changed front dramatically again, and I didn't like it. I had fallen in love with the 72. Nowadays, I think I like it better than the 72. The Torino line was my favorite Ford model line for the entire run from 1968 to 76. This car featured in this video is a fantastic example of the 72 Gran Torino.

Over time this car has really grown on me, both the '70/'71 and this generation, '72' are both knockouts and the fastback design, striping option, hood scoop, and rally wheels add up to top of class for '72 and there was still some very stiff competition in intermediate class but this Cobra Jet Ford Torino is tough to beat. Thanks Lou!

It is about to be four years since I seen this video the day it came out, and I’m still in awe even now. I am twenty, and In five years time I hope to have worked really hard towards where I would like to be by then. As of now I am well on my way thanks to God, and I hope to continue on this path. Eventually, if this car ever goes for auction I will fulfill the promise I made to my father that some day I would have worked hard enough to own this Gran Torino regardless of the price, for the value of this car lies in the significance of what it symbolizes to my father and I.

This showed up on my ''suggested video'' list even though it's over three years old and it just happened to have the Two best looking Fords ever built in my opinion! sitting side by side no less! The 70/71Torino sports roof and the 72 Torino sports roof! I've loved both of these cars ever since they came out but I've never been able to make up my mind which one is my favorite! I think that having them side by side has made me pick out the 72! It's a one year only front end treatment (Thank you US government!) and it's a full frame car with a four link coil spring rear suspension that rides like my all time favorite cars the GTO and the 442! I've always been a Pontiac fanatic but I got a 71 Olds Cutlass a few years back without a plan to fix it and flip it and then I started buying all brands of cars and have a few I really like! I have a A 78 Thunderbird, a 1977 Dodge Monaco coupe, and a 1975 Ford Torino Elite and a few more! The Torino Elite is all red inside and outside and when I saw the ad it had the address 5 miles away from my house and the pictures I made my mind up right then that I had to have it! I told my son to come along to drive my old car back because it was mine! I asked the guy what it took to buy it and he told me how much and I handed it to him! No negotiating or trying to get it cheaper, The Red car with red interior just spoke to me! I had to have it!

I'd say it was around 80-81, I remember him swapping a 351 Cleveland into it with the front yard tree as his hoist.
      and a trans swap too.
Reason I remember the trans swap was the shift legend didn't line up anymore ?
Idk what he did, maybe went from a c4 to a c6?

My dad own a 72 just like this one when I was a kid. I loved riding in that car .I was born in 70 but I do remember the 69 torino he traded in after a battle he lost with a side ditch near home I think he had a few too many . His 72 was gold with a stripe similar to the one here. Somehow they all said the 351 was stronger than the 69 390 . I don't know but the back seat of the 72 was very comfy at the drive in movies .it was a great time to be a kid.

Exhaust note reminds me of a 1971 Ford Galaxy I owned for quite a few years. One time the muffler got disconnected, and my daughter and friends drove through the local movie theater parking lot. With no muffler the open exhaust set off about six car alarms before they got parked. They looked around, got back in the car and headed of to the mall before anything else happened. Even with the exhaust in proper shape that 400M had a GOOD exhaust note. It’s a car a friend gave me free and we ran it until it had 320,000 miles on it. I could write a book of wild stories regarding that old Ford!!

I use to own a 1970 Mach 1 it’s original color was bright gold metallic with ginger deluxe interior.
I use to get some much attention as much as if I was driving a Ferrari. I sold it there’s not a day that I regret it. With today’s prices what they are selling for only if I win the lottery I would be able to own one again 👍👍
