Do you think this car is worthy of being restored and put back on the road?
sure do, got a 72 out of Oklahoma City while doing a field job, paid 500 bucks, but mine was ex highway patrol with 460 interceptor in it, with factory ram air, the scoop was a nice touch, paint was flaking and showed the brown and tan 2 tone under so had to be repainted,
351 Cleveland
maybe
this turned out great.. so glad you guys of all people were able to come and take the car. there’s no one we would of rather had sold it to. great work boys.
That's your car? That thing is gorgeous. The car is in good hands. I own a 1968 Fairlane 429 Cobra Jet. It's an engine swap. Was originally a 302 Auto (C4 transmission) car
Thanks man! We're so happy you guys gave it to us to bring back to life. Hopefully if your dad saw the video, we made him proud
Have now used this to clean house siding and it performed well th-cam.com/users/postUgkx43QMbQqu67IZadu9ou8Sg1BdrunMRNqX I also bought some wand extensions which enabled higher washing without needing a ladder. I recommend both. This unit arrived quickly, was easy to assemble (only had to attach the handle), and arrived in perfect condition. The only very slight downgrade from a perfect score is the design has a low handle and requires pulling from the side. My old washer was an upright model, while this one is more horizontal. Other than that, it's perfect for my needs. It has a great deal of pressure and more easily cleaned the house siding, porch rails and concrete than did my older model. The engine is a bit louder, as well, but the total time to clean was reduced by the more powerful spray. Did I mention it starts on the first or second pull every time?!! I am definitely happy with this model.
This deserves to be restored to its former glory, An true automotive icon of its history.
Clint Eastwood drove one, so I imagine restoring this bad boy up and selling it to Clint Eastwood of course.
And also I wouldn't mind putting a vehicle that is kind of inspired by this 1972 Gran Torino in one of my future games that I plan to create in Unreal Engine 5 of course.
As a huge fan of classic/vintage automobiles, they deserve more love and care of course.
I loved these Torino’s as a kid. I’ve ridden in one brand new. Very smooth, quiet, and comfortable with a plush ride.
It's a 302 2V Windsor V8. The deck height is lower than a 351 Windsor(see how high the alternator bracket is located). Also, you can't confuse a Windsor with a Cleveland. The front timing cover and radiator hose location are totally different.
My thoughts exactly
yeah, Cleveland Blocks are Big Block Motors and Windsor Blocks are Small Block Motors
it could be a 351W Small Block
@@JohnH20111 The deck height of the block tells me 302...
My dad had a metallic green 73 grand Torino . We all loved that car.miss u dad! Rip!
The Torino cleaned up great! The colour was called "Persimmon". Had one and had to match the paint to replace the drivers side door after an idiot backed into it. It wasn't red or orange, but a neat colour, somewhere in the middle. Yours looked like the hood may have been replaced at some point. Ford really worked that bodystyle over throughout the 70's, with the Cougar, Elite, and 1977-79 Thunderbird.
My first car was a 72 Gran Torino (coupe). It had a 302/C4. I do remember that even in the late 70's, when I owned it, the front coil springs needed replacing. I did that on the fronts, and put a set of coil over (helper) shocks in back.
My first car was a ‘73 Torino sedan with a 400/C6. White with blue vinyl interior, I later put in leather seats out of a Lincoln Mark IV.
Hey guys, luv the barn find vids-my engine guess is either a 302 or a 351 Cleveland.
I had one,my first car. 1972 Gran Torino, red with white vinyl top and laser stripe. White interior with 351C and 2bbl auto. I loved that car.
Starky & Hutch would be proud of you guys
Fantastic job fellas! She looks purty again!
@WDDetailing you should do a collab video with junkyard digs. You get the car looking good and they get it running
This was awesome! Great job!
Thanks Alex! We have some crazy stuff in the works, and found some really cool barn finds you’d love and haven’t filmed them yet. Hit up our email if you’re interested in doing something together!
What an awesome transformation ❤❤❤
Torinos are awesome! Nice cleanup!
Fantastic Work.
Thank you!
OMG, that car turned out amazing!!! Well worth the effort to restore. Lots of memories seeing these cars get cleaned up and looking awesome. As usual, outstanding job on another detail. Great job, guys!!
Thanks Rob! Glad you enjoyed it and think it came out good!
@Karl with a K what’s the point of you watching? To call out the chumps?
@@karlwithak. speaking of chumps......
Great job. Honestly the American's really knew how to build a good looking car back when.from 50s to the late 80s saw some awesome looking machines
Good job guys! 👍💪 greetings from Torino, Italy. This car was a tribute, homage to our city and the story of our automotive industry. Sorry for my poor english 😅
Videos like this is a relaxing therapy for the soul...
My dad had a 1975 LTD Landau which had White Synthetic Leatherite Interior. It felt like Leather never cracked although he always cleaned it with Tuff Stuff!
What a gem. My first car was a 72 Gran Torino, it was dark red, had the stripes on the side like Eastwoods in Gran Torino. In later years, I owned three 72 Torinos, one being a Country Squire wagon and a 1976 Gran Torino. Loved those cars. The engines came standard with either 351 Cleveland or 351 Windsor. Cleveland had small lugs while Windsor had fatter ones. My 76 had a 390 4 barrel.
Great job man
Wow, such a huge transformation. Loved to see this beauty getting waxed! Great work, guys!
Another amazing find. You guys did a great job bringing the shine and life back.
Omg I use to watch y’all a long time ago but then I lost y’all’s channel I’m so happy I found it from TikTok!
Ah, memories! Mine was green just like the one in the Clint Eastwood movie. Loved those bench seats. On the other hand, every time I went past a gas station, it wanted to go in! Had to hold the wheel tight! lol
So satisfying to watch the transformation.
Brings back memories I had the exact same car 30 years ago. Mine had a set of crager super sport wheels , red with a 351 modified engine. Ford claimed the 351 modified was equivalent to a 400 engine . Most were 351 Cleveland and a few with 351 Windsor motors . I sold it to a friend and it got t-boned in a crash. The car only had 60 k original miles . A cool old car . Thanks Guys
I believe in 1965 It was called Rangoon Red. My grandmother had a 65 Galaxie 500 XL Convertible that color Red with red interior and a white top. My dad had ordered 1963 Galaxie 500 XL Convertible, Rose Beige, black bucket seats and a console & black top, 390ci police interceptor package & a 4-speed. My moms brother liked dads car so much he got a Pagoda Green 64 Galaxie 500 XL fastback with white bucket seats and a console. My dads mom liked his car too and got her red Ford in 65. My Grandpa was a Chevy man and refused to to let her park her car in the garage next to Impala! He also made her Pay for her Ford with her own money because it wasn't a Chevy, He would have bought a new Chevy for her. I think that is why she got a bright red one so it would stand out in the driveway... Grandpa always had earth tone colors never flashy cars. Its what they call being passive aggressive.
I had a baby blue 72 gran torino sport. It had a 351 Cleveland engine. Been looking for one for my grandson. Awesome job on an awesome car
Great job guys!!! The Gran Torino looks GRAND!!!!!
GRAND TORINO of course!
When I was a teenager my first car was a 1973 Ford Gran Torino 2 door car similar to your Torino. But mine was a 1973 model. It was a year newer with the bigger bumper on the front end.
I can tell that your Tornio has the 351 V8 engine... either a Windsor or a Cleveland. Most Torino's came with the 351 V8 engine... but some had the 302 V8 and there was some that had a 6-cylinder engine. I think with a little TLC and some effort you could bring your Torino back to life. You just need to assess the damages to the parts and wiring and replace the damaged parts and wiring and do some mechanical work to get the engine running again. It would make an awesome restoration project
you would not think there was a car under all that gunk great job guys awesome job
Starsky and hutch would be proud of you guys
It's a 302 or 351 Windsor. I had an identical car but in green with a white vinyl top. Great job boys. I wish you were here in New Zealand to clean my Saab collection lol .
Fannnntastic!!
Awesome work guy's. Looks good
Great find, and great job. Guys, in that era, you'd be lucky to find leather in a T-Bird, let alone a Torino. It's vinyl.
I had the twin to that car! I was shocked when my father brought it home from the dealership. My dad was a suit and tie business man and that Torino was a tire chirping butt hauler. As I recall that was Fiesta Red and it was powered by a 351 Cleveland. It was a west coast car so rust was not an issue but light rain and starting from a stop light required some degree of pedaling.
Nice set of rims and tires and she would look great👍🏻
maybe a set of American Racing 15” rims with 225/60R15 tires?
Wow you guys really brought it back.
. You guys did an awesome job of detailing it. I had a blue one with a 351 Windsor.
well it looks 100 percent better than it did, you guys are awesome, great job
Turned out so good :)
My favorite video of yours yet! You brought this Gran Torino back to life, guys! I definitely think it is worth getting running and back on the road! Worn but not worn out.
So happy to hear that, John! I think she belongs on the road!
A classic ❤
I think I love seeing red❤
brings back many memories of being 10yrs old.. when my parents bought their new '72 Gran Torino, it was a wagon...yellow with wood grain paneled exterior and a brown interior, it also had the 429/c6 drivetrain in it...I can still remember the day my dad put the 5 slot cragars on it right after my mom bent one of the steel wheels on a curb...I always wanted to build up a mid '70's Torino 2 door after watching too many episodes of Starsky and Hutch..
You guys are magicians. This transformation was breathtaking. The car il absolutely fantastic ❤
My parents had a yellow '72 Gran Torino. Bought it new in May of '72, when I was 4 years old. They traded it in for a '76 Ford LTD wagon in October of '76.
Damn it guys, I just watched gran torinos for sale few days ago.. now watching this makes me want one even more. Pretty sure thats a 351 cleveland underr the hood :)
Better late than never, right?!
WOW what difference!!Turned out Great!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Omg it is really fantastic ❤❤🎉🎉🎉
i have to say that i enjoy the deep house music good work 😍
love that year of Torino and the notchback is my fav, i do in fact own the notch version of the one Eastwood used in the movie but i have had mine way before the movie and yes mine is green with the same gold trim, fully restored now and was my dads..
I like the mood this car gives while watching it. It's beautiful, and might be super satisfying to see it restored 😺 thank you for new video, your work is incredible and awesome! 👏👏👏
I had a 1974 Gran Torino as my first car (used!) when I started driving, and it had a 302 cu. in. engine in it, so that's my best guess as the engine size in this one.
What a beaut! Will you upload a video of the festival you're going to for us international viewers?
Nice job.
This car is 50 years old, now it looks 25 years old. I didn’t think that paint would have any shine left in it. The interior turned out great for what you guys started with.
DAYUM!!! Nice color! What’s going to happen to the car now? Thanks guys! Incredible! Take care! Eddie
An iconic car ❤
I had a four door ‘73 Gran Torino in high school. So similar to this ‘72. I’m guessing this car has a 351 Cleveland engine like mine did. Did the owner ever get it back on the road again? Such a cool car! As always you guys did an amazing job. I love watching your videos. 😊
Base engine in Gran Torino was a 302W. 351C and 460 were options.
@@michaeltutty1540 '72 engine choices were 250 6 cyl, 302, either 351 C or W, 2 351
4V's, 400 2V and 429 4V. after 73 the 429 was dropped for the 460.
Growing up in the 70s and 80s, these always reminded me of the Starsky and Hutch car. So cool!!
It's a 302 or 351W, not a Cleveland. The tag under the distributor hold down bolt will tell you for sure. Most likely 302 that was a standard dealer order .
My brother had a '72 with a '73 front clip, it did have a Cleveland in it, great motors.
このような古い車が生まれ変わるのは本当に気持ちがいいですね!
お疲れ様でした☺️
Best thing for cleaning whitewalls is a simple SOS pad.
And dry steel wool for chrome.
Just seeing how sweet the hood and all the chrome on that ride is perfection! I had to subscribe. Thank you for an amazing video
I had a gran Torino just like that in the 90s. I think yours is red like mine was. Great vid. Nice clean up
Awesome job 👌
Impressive work
Really nice work.
fan of this car , ever since the fast and furious ❤
My favorite 70s car.
I wish there were follow-up videos of restorations for all vehicles and not just cleaning
I don't know if you planned it, but they American flag appearing on the hood as you cleaned was awesome.
oh awesome Wash
Sounds stupid, but could almost see the car smiling to get cleaned up and look remotely like she did in her prime. Love that you guys save the lives of cars/history, even if only for a little while in some cases (parts car)👍🏻
Not stupid at all. When he was jet washing the bonnet (hood) and the front was visible i imagined the car breathing a sigh of relief saying to its self "at last"
A nice gloss black respray and leather retrim would be awesome
car looks like a 9/10
👀
Car looks amazing now. A friend got a new Torino in 1971. Red w/ black vynal roof. This car looks orange to me. I do like the color . My 2017 SantaFe Sport is canyon copper. I love the color.
Now this car is a iconic TV car, wow, Starsky and Hutch.
Awesome job guys & so many mouse nests unbelievable
Right?!
My husband is always going to the junkyard, maybe you guys could find some matching rims. Amazing work you guys do.
It improved a bit. Congrats.
Great job
351W or 302 based on bypass hose. My parents had exact same car. But a Sport with the formal roof. Love to see you clean it up. Definately get it going again. Sucks about roof.
use a leaf blower to blow the stuff from carpeting
This car color is more than likely cherry red. Great video. I would really would like to see a datsun truck 620 next video
Ho 60 anni e sono cresciuto con Starsky & Hutch quell’auto in Italia é un mito … magari ne avessi una
Looks great guys good work! Maybe you guys could show digging them out more always interesting to watch!
Nice! Sold, I'll take it.
Want to see full restoration of this car process so satisfying
Had one just like it. It is either a 302 or 351 Windsor v8. Mine had a black vinyl roof and otherwise was identical. Great car, should have kept it.
Old is gold
Starsky and Hutch comes to mind.
Considering this is a 51yr old car it's still pretty minted be a great restoration job once completed.
The carpet came out fantastic..
Color appears to be Ford 2B bright red. My 1973 Torino coupe has the same original color. The best thing you can do for this car is to replace the wheels/tires with something more than the 14" x 5.5" steelies and those tiny tires. Combine that with a brake upgrade, new shocks, and a rear sway bar, and you will have a car that handles well. In stock condition it is an accident waiting to happen.
