    I've just watched this and it was fun. Thank you.
    There is a film out this year, Emma, which has paid amazing attention to detail.
    As someone into both music (especially anything pre-Roman tic era) and costume I found this a balm for the soul
    In Emma the actors play the showpiece musical pieces. Emma (Anya Taylor-Joy) in the film plays and sings not very well (but that is the point) then Miss Fairfax (Amber Anderson) plays in a completely different class.. It's a brilliant scene. Later the hero, Mr Knightly (Johnny Flynn) brings in his violin and performs a duet with Miss Fairfax
    Johnny is also a professional folk musician and wrote and performed some of the music for the film.

      @@EvgenyGenchev Hi, I like your reaction. You could search “Jay Chou” in TH-cam, he often played piano in the vocal concert. Maybe he cannot plays so accurately with one hand, but you can’t deny that it is just a form of artist expression and Jay is a great pianist.

      @@leonardossecret126 Jay Chou is a good pianist, but what is played with one hand in that clip is probably unplayable. It's an interesting subject ! . I mean if it was " hyperthetically speaking " ethically viable , to have piano battles they would have to be competitions in which the might of the great people whom first invented the piano were put to the test against those whom invented the best techneques , methods and dare i say " systems " , coupled with those whom for one reason or another , seem to have the ability to preconcieve all the above mentioned and additionally can play on them to there heart's content . Essentially this would mean that there would be two main categories ( with plenty of subdivisions ) such as you have in break dancing , I.e power movers and then the more contortion based dancers . However , thankfully we live in a world whare conservation is key when it comes to the playing of an instrument and we know that competing in that manor , would lessen the popularity and creative development of piano playing and it's music . Very much different to those arts/sports in which popularity can only truelly be achieved when the image of the activity is enhanced through competition . Therefore we let it remain either a staged event for show only , or an educational event for aspiring performers who are just starting out .
    But when opening the curtain on piano music , we see a huge and very competitive market that quite rightly , never shows its colours as being either " directly or indirectly " a commercial area of competition . I guess it all boils down to emotion , passion and skill set , as we know that music is more valuable than most visual arts , due to the very ability of hear being generally more important than that of seeing , the reasons for which are endless but to coin a few . It gives rise to the likes of prediction , premonition , memory , realisation and thought .
    it's therefore as touched upon . More valuable to humanity .

    Please don't judge him too hard 😭😭 for us who love him, have listened to his music and who don't know piano well or even don't play piano at all, this battle/show is good enough, really...❤️
    Actually among asian movies, few ones have so many piano (classical vibe) playing scenes (this is just one of them), like: when jay chou and the female character have fun chatting and playing piano duet together; when jay chou and another student do the battle; when female character was depressed she played in sad vibe; and when the female character found a mysterious book of music sheets, and when she played the songs in that book, something magical happened (that's why the movie is called "Secret", if u translate it literally, the name should be "The secret that cannot be told").
    Those classical-vibe piano playings make the movie a comforting and elegant masterpiece (at least many people think so); and jay chou himself is a musician whose music style is special, a little weird and interesting and, at the same time, good listening (at least many people think so); besides, the way he sings and talks got his own style, so does his rapping style (not sure u who play classical music is interested in rap stuff), so among the years he appears in chinese music world, he became a sign of the music style of that era. It's why so many chinese speaking people speak good of him

By sheer speed alone, any computer program can play faster than any human!

    This movie is basically fingernails down a chalkboard....in every cringey way, shape and form possible. When I was in high school, every person in my music class challenged me to do the same things these guys were doing. Even while studying at a conservatory, despite playing Op.10 No.5 at performance tempo, a few non-pianists would asked "bUt CaN yOu pLaY iT in WHITE kEys?!"😂😂
    You express all the incredulity we as pianists had to endure with this scene 😂😂

    • @charlizet4314
      @charlizet4314 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is exactly what the movie is portraying 😊. The second guy is a famous composer-singer, Jay Chou, and this movie (Secret) is his debut as director as tribute to his high school where he majored in piano and minor in cello. The filming is in the school itself. In the story, he is a transferred student from another school. The students hold impromptu ‘battle sessions’ after school. In this scene, he was called upon to do a ‘battle’ with the Prince of Piano to showcase his skills. In real live, he was talent spotted when he accompanied his junior for a talent show competition on a tv show as keyboard player. He was talent spotted not because he played the keyboard well but the music scores he did caught the eye of the tv host who also owns a record company. He hired him as composer. When some of his songs were rejected by accomplished singers because they were unusual and some even commented that it cannot be sung, his boss asked him if he could sing them instead. Which he did and the boss decided to promote him as a singer and his first album created a storm in the chinese music industry as it was very unique. He continues to create great music and inspired many not to be afraid of being rejected.
