- This part starts in TUI (We cross the bridge from Valenca to Tui) and we then continue our walk towards Santiago de Compostela.
It is about 116 km to walk, and if you start in TUI you can get a Compostela after completing the Camino. See more at the end of the video on how to get this certificate.
We got into a bad situation because we chose not to take an alternative route through the forest, we also went a little wrong at a crossroads, we give you tips on how to deal with "walking under the sun for a long time" and much more that you possibly feel good to know before you set off on your Camino.
***
This time we traveled to Porto and walked the Camino Portuguese.
We flew via Lisbon, took a train to Porto where we then started our hike.
In Part 1 we started our walk in Porto and walked the Senda Litoral route up to Vila do Conde where we crossed over to Rubiaes and continued on the Inland Trail, Camino Central, to Valenca.
In this part, 2, we walk from Tui to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
The Camino Portuguese has several variants:
The Camino Central (the inland route), the Camino Costal and the Senda Litoral route and there is also a spiritual variant of the camino, the spiritual way" that you can choose to walk after Pontevedra.
In total, we walked around 260 kilometers in 13 days.
Part 1 shows the first 7 days of hiking in Portugal.
Part 2 shows the last 6 days of hiking in Spain.
You need to walk the last 100 kilometers to be able to collect a Compostela after your hike and Tui is therefore a popular starting point as it is approximately 116 km from Tui to hike to Santiago de Compostela.
If you are looking for a Camino that you can walk for around 8-10 days and up, I think this Camino is a good alternative to parts of the Camino Frances, Camino de Santiago and other options that have Santiago de Compostela as their goal.
Portugal and Spain are fantastic countries with pleasant nature, nice people, good food and drink and wonderful hiking weather.
I can warmly recommend this route!

Thank you for your wisdom and sharing your experiences. I am leaving for Porto in four weeks time from NZ and have watched your videos many times now over the past two years. It keep me going during covid and many life experiences and the loss of loved ones. So with your help I am confidant that we are going to have a fabulous experience. You are both so charming and I love Camilla's lovely smile and sunny disposition. I have tramped and hiked many of New Zealand's great tracks and walks. Perhaps you would both come over here one day for an outdoor experience. We would love to have you.
Oh, thank you for your kind words. They touched our ❤️.
We are so happy to hear that our videos can inspire and help others.

Hi, we also plan to go back to the roads next year but I think we start in Leon 🇪🇸 but everything can change 🤔😃
Thanks 🙏 for watching my videos.
Hello Per, I’m currently on the Camino Portugues and just stayed at the casa Herba. That was a great recommendation. Thanks for all your good advice.
Åh, so nice, 😃yes that is a grate place to stay at. Thanks for writing to us. Bom Caminho
Thank you both for these beautiful videos! I walked the Camino Francés last summer, and will walk the Portugués starting in May, and your videos are very helpful. You both seem like such kind and lovely people, and I really appreciate all the work you put into these videos. Wishing you many more Caminos, and sending you best wishes from California.
I’m happy you liked our videos 😃🙏
And I hope you get a great journey on the Portuguese Camino. 😃
Thank you so much for this lovely video. I was deciding between doing sections of the Frances again or the Portuguese Camino. Your video was amazing and it should the terrain very well. Too much pavement for my Achilles tendon issues.
God bless You.
Thank you 🙏 same to you 🚶🏼♂️🚶♀️
Another really good film, thanks. It’s good that you put the names of the pension and. cafes in the film. It’s good to see your easy-going style and your nice relationship. Really good music too.
Thanks 🙏 I’m glad you liked it 😃
Wow what a journey! Thank you so much for taking us along with you. You both have such high and beautiful spirits :)
Thanks ☀️
Hey guys. Really enjoyed your video. My wife and I walked the Camino Portugues in 2019 so it was fun to watch you pass through the same areas. And, it was fun to see what those areas looked like in the sunshine. Our Camino was filled with rain, flooded areas and detours. In fact our walk from Tui to O'Porrino was one of our single most challenging days. Four years out now, and closing in on retirement from full-time work, we have begun planning our next "Camino." Thanks again.
Hey 👋🏻
Thanks for telling. I hope your next Camino will be in sunshine ☀️.
Amazing and inspirational. Thanks for sharing your experience. I completed a segment of the Camino Frances from St. Jean Pied de Port this past summer. Your video has made me decide to do the Camino Portugués from Tui in a couple of years. Happy holidays to you and yours.
Thanks 🙏 I’m happy you liked my videos 😃
Well done. Thank you for sharing your journey. Buen Camino
Thank you for all your effort. I get tears recognising so many of the places you walked past. I will redo the Camino in September this year. Same route as last year, the Portuguese central route. Buen Camino.
Buen Camino ☀️😃
So nice walk, and so wonderful to see husband and wife walking happy together. Camilla seems to be a very happy positive person, same as you 🙂 Thank you for your generosity
Thanks 🙏😃

@@Per-Ola_a_camino_hiker We are doing exactly this route in October. Only have 5 days off so Valenca to Santiago it is. And this video is perfect to know what to expect :D 🍌🦍
Santiago de Compostela, capital de Galicia y ciudad patrimonio de la humanidad.
is camino porto expensive that frances?
Perhaps a little because the range of cafes and albergues is smaller. But not much.
Estáis en GALICIA, no os equivoquéis.
