I'd like to see the cost of all this equipment compared to what they spend on helping the less fortunate
Even coming from someone who thinks this is all a little over the top for a church (partly because its bad optics, and partly because it just isn't necessary), I can say with a good amount of confidence their charitable spending far outweighs what they spend on equipment. This is not a church that's exactly short on money or wealthy donors, and as expensive as all of this stuff is, it's ultimately just a one-time investment. The rest of the donations they receive quarter to quarter for as long as the church exists goes toward charitable spending, employee salaries, community programs, etc.
After you check, we want to see and compare what you do to help the less fortunate.
There is absolutely no evidence from this particular church's website that they help anyone but themselves, this is a massive profit-making corporation and nothing more. Pity for the less-fortunate in it's particular towns, they'll have to get help some other way I guess........
Most of megachurch equipment are tax-writeoff donations by rich people that want to avoid a country's tax department. These churches actually do charity work, believe it or not, because there will be those moralist pastors who will always insist on spending that sitting money.

Dang i was freaking bored in church thats where i started to do some cam/soundwork to be less bored at the age of around 10. This can really help to connect to newer generation to be less bored and might be worth every penny. I think this is the future.
And dont get me wrong it isnt the chruch its job to spend every penny on helping people directly, do you do that even?.. But by conveying the message of taking care of eachother they create a solid community that helps eachother, and well.. the equipment payed for that help in another way.. The more people hearts they reach, the more help they give.'

As A professional video producer, I can say that God must really love them for having big names and brands like red, providing them with the best possible solution and equipment to satisfy and deliver their needs. They have a full live setup, that broadcasting production houses would dream of. This is a half a million dollars donation at least. From the switchers, to the cameras. I mean if they aren't broadcasting for the church, they could cover the next superbowl, football or baseball tournament.
Just IMAGINE if Jesus would have had a gimmick. Think of what He could have accomplished for God...

There is no need for a production team like this. I managed production for a big church in LA. We started getting into that whole vibe of making production bigger and better, this comes when the church puts more emphasis on growth and financial growth, rather than Christ like serving and need fulfilling. If a pastor needs this much to preach the gospel, welp its not a church, it's a business.
Couldn’t agree more, all the homeless people in LA that could’ve been taken of the streets and set up for a better life with the money wasted on the cameras. One of those cameras is ~$6,000. That’s before factoring in any “accessories” like the lenses and screens needed to go on them. Horrible misuse of $15,000-$20,000 dollars.
@@austinjudovsky7240 they already had cameras and broadcast capabilities, so they were going from already functional broadcast capability to a slightly better image quality. And they got 8 new cameras, so it’s actually going to be bare minimum $40,000, and more likely $60,000 dollars. In addition they’re running a Mac Pro which is likely excessive and a minimum $5,000 but closer to $10,000.
Setting up a livestream that is decently functional doesn’t need to cost $70,000. Let’s be generous and say you needed $10,000 to do it. That $60,000 could’ve totally brought at least one person out of homelessness in the States, or saved likely a whole African tribe from starvation.
It’s a disgusting misuse, and it doesn’t matter if they already do things for their community. I know they probably do the community, but wouldn’t you be pissed if a soup kitchen spent $70,000 dollars on gold utensils to make their food a little nicer. Sure the soup kitchen is helping by feeding people, but is wildly mismanaged.
I think there isn't an assumption of whether the church is funneling money into the right places. Growth can still happen on the personal and spiritual level. I think the fact their is a video on the camera expenses and tech needed to showcase a Pastor and a worship team, shows that their focus isnt on other things more humble and important. One camera will suffice. I've never seen anyone get saved from an extra camera angle. Their isn't a need to have more Christians, but rather quality Christians that act like a Christ.
I get this channel/church is trying to be a lead tech church for other churches that want to do this, at least it seems, but that process seems super unbiblical. Question : How far does this go? What proof do you have that HQ video produces more fiath or Christians? Would Jesus like being up on that stage?

My conclusion thus far...anything to make what you are doing as best an experience for the concerned possible is fine. If you are Christian...this would be equivalent to the rubbing of His feet in the finest oils and perfume by Mary in the Taxman's house. That was extravagant, but Jesus understood that it came from a place of love and passion.
Honestly, I think the line has been crossed with this. Should we as Christians aim for the best quality in our art- yes. Is a Sunday church gathering the place to do it? I'd argue no. Church is a body, not a place. Unfortunately in much of the West we have lost this concept and have poured exorbitant amounts of money on the sermons and worship time neglecting the financial needs of the true Church and the surrounding communities. How much money has Flatirons poured into helping revitalize their city helping the homeless out of poverty, paying for the sick's medical bills, supporting children in schools, and various other ways to be the Light in the community they have been placed? Have they done this? Maybe. But to the extent necessary? The Church in Acts no one was without need. I don't see how you can achieve this by pouring literally millions of dollars into a live feed. It is not the pastor's job or a Sunday sermon's job to convert the masses- the Church as a whole is to be the living breathing example of Christ to the local community and world. Do some come to know Christ through a sermon? Absolutely! But I argue sermons and worship are intended to equip the saints as we go out together as missionaries making disciples. This setup impresses me and is something I strive to achieve for the company I work with specifically with UE5 and AR and VR and XR. I think there are ways we as Christians can use this tech (absolutely in our day jobs glorifying God by just working as hard and as best we can not to earn favor, but out of having already earned God's favor through Christ) and in certain scenarios a virtual production would be useful, but I strongly disagree with the amount of money poured into this that could be put to use in much greater ways for the sake of the Church body and the local community. Church shouldn't be some flashy production and show- it is the living and breathing body of Christ showing his care and love to the world in servitude, humility, and the pouring out of our resources for the sake of others. We should as Christian artists continue to seek to make the best art, but let's know where to draw the line. Are there people still in need financially in our body? In our local community? Then let's pour our resources there. Once that need is fully and truly met, then I'd say spending millions on this is okay. Neglecting the needy to any degree in order to spend on flashier production is always crossing the line.

I’m a church tech nerd, I love pushing the limits, but cost wise this might be a tad too much. I mean, it’s not even close to touching the cost of audio or that led wall but, it seems a tad unnecessary.
I'm there with you. Huge tech nerd. Love working with church tech and have volunteered in tech at a few churches. But this is just...too much. It's not good optics, and as cool as it is, it just isn't necessary.
12 Red Komodos plus all of the accessories and lenses for each camera....I think you'd be surprised how close it gets to the cost of the LED wall and audio system. They're approaching $175k for the cameras and accessories alone.
Back in 2015 I was hired at a church to do their video production (you can see some videos on my profile). They had 3 Red Scarlets and they were a pain in the butt to lug around Washington DC and also appeared too professional out in public when we were shooting with them. I ended up selling them and purchasing some A7SII's instead. Lighter. Great image. Cheaper everything. etc etc. It allowed us to be much more mobile and create work that to 99% of the audience appeared the exact same.

Do you not believe that God will work through this church even if you disagree with them? Good for them for beinginaplace to afford these things, if they are doing what they believe God calls them to do or not is between them and God. Yeah I think it would be a shame for the organization not to open up mentorship and courses on using such incredible equipment. Waste of money or the future of their external community. I mean they should reach out to local schools and their community outside their organization.

I love video production and love lights, exposure, and framing. I can’t get enough of that stuff. I understand about 70% of hardware explained in this video. What I can’t understand is where in the Bible does it talk about mega churches? Churches are a community. Communities of believe are there to show their city the love of God. Massive video production like this isn’t required to share the message with in the church, or outside of it. I would pray about elders concern for their body rather then the concert event their trying to produce every Sunday.
I completely agree. I love all things tech, even completed a degree in computer science. But this is so unnecessary at a church. The whole production room?! Too much.

I have zero problem with a mega church. Is a church supposed to stop evangelizing once they reach a certain size? In Acts chapter 2, Peter did one sermon and 3000 people got saved and persons were added to the church daily. They met often too. Were the apostles wrong to start a mega church, as we now call it? All the best for the kingdom is what I say.

Your worry shouldn't be the displays, as these brethren are giving God their best. Your concern is that they make sure they are preaching and teaching with the power of God.

@@diligenceeke3023 the problem is the financial cost for having the very best. People are giving their hard earned money to the church for an unnecessary overkill of a set up. That money could go to causes like helping the homeless or helping families that are struggling financially. This is all just for spectacle. It doesn’t help the people of the church or the community in any way.

The Gearhead side of me adores this - The video looks fantastic, and the production quality is unreal (pun intended), and man am I oogling over the whole setup.
But man, can you imagine how much this cost? Why are we willing as churches and Christians to spend so much money on stuff like this?? The money from this could be used to fund tribal missionaries, create, support and staff ministries to reach the unbelieving state side. Funding ministries to help homeless and widows, and supporting ministries like Options for Women.
Jesus' final commandment was to share the Gospel with every tribe, tongue and nation. And that's when He is coming back! Those are the marching orders! How is a full production studio in a church accomplishing this? I love production and tech, but man it makes my heart heavy to see how churches are stewarding the mission we have been given.

@@chuklanov As a former video church worker, you can just divert more into ministry? I intentionally worked in a small budget I designed because I told them any excess budget needs to go to outward ministry. I don't need a RED to shoot announcement videos. Worship team didn't need it for broadcast work....
Amén! This is only a the idol making heart that we have! The pride of life running loose in our hearts! We have fallen so far from the truth . And like you, I love tech, but… we loose soo much money, time, and other resources in fabricating our own temple instead of giving ourselves to the task of the gospel.

That's a really amazing use of the LED board for storytelling! Although it seems to me that a church that can afford all of this tech can certainly afford to pay taxes as well.
You have to remember that when churches were provided that exception, there were multiple assumptions in-place. That churches were mainly non-profit, were community builders, helped the poor and homeless, helped solve societal issues, weren't corrupted over-spending or over-collecting institutions. It's my understanding that most pastors/priests didn't take too much of an income. As such, the belief was that not taxing the church would help communities thrive. And arguably, it did. But you do have a point, that now many churches (even some in my area (middle of nowhere)) are spending millions of dollars on audio/video equipment, massive auditoriums, and whatever else. I don't think we can outright say "You can't ever spend that much money" but it needs to be balanced. Churches of the 1700/1800s would have spent a lot of money on fancy organs which would have been an equivalent purchase to today. One church made a fake organ facade just to make it look like they had an organ (for an important guest (Belgium I think?)).
So either 1) We argue that none of that sort of spending was ever okay or 2) That we balance it out. Spend money for good reason. Don't spend 500k on red cameras when 10k worth of cameras will do you just fine. And instead put the 490k back into the community. If that law were to change, I just hope they apply it to churches that make over a certain amount of money, so that churches that do follow the spirit of that exception can keep doing what they are doing.

You would be much better off realizing that what you want will never happen but instead searching for a compromise (ie, mega-churches that abuse the system get taxed).
Churches are not corporations. I do dislike mega-churches by all means. They get so much wrong, comparing them to Disney is akin to asking a taxi-driver to fly you to your destination.
If you seriously trust your city governors to help the poor, sick, homeless, single-parent families, etc. Over the church? Then you're simply crazy. Cities are so corrupt whereas churches (not mega ones) are generally directly accountable to their congregation and the funds are way more likely to go where they're supposed to go. Vs a city that spends millions of dollars considering what colour they should paint their building.
@@BenvanBroekhuijsen I'm not 'murican. So similar to your European system, Canada, also has social programs. Society problems cannot be fixed by the government. Not by money and food alone. Those things help for sure. Many suffer from mental issues, abandonment, physical or mental pain from years past, people shouting at homeless, etc. Plus, often government social benefits aren't enough.
I do hold a slightly different perspective than others. That perhaps we shouldn't try to dictate what others do. Christianity is not supposed to be a rule based system. Catholicism for sure is about controlling people. The whole point of protestantism was to get rid of most of that controlled atmosphere. I've never heard of a soup kitchen that refused to give food to people unless they became a Christian.
A lot of your issues pertain to specific domination's of Christianity. You should probably be a bit more open-minded. I'm a tad surprised to learn that a European would hold this sort of world view.

They were ALL money hungry, rules based churches who chose to do flashy missions abroad rather than work to help the community a quarter mile away.

in my ex-church the day pastors said we are expanding our building and a big UPS cost more than $40k, in my mind did some calculate and thought you can sustain an entire family. Then turn back and saw a poor old lady sit in the back. That day I left these awful places after 15 years of service...
First disciples (book of Acts) didn't spend money in this, they shared with each other and nobody had needs... their fellowships were in houses where each one share about the faith and grow, no big cathedrals, arenas, that's a Catholic idea that evangelic, protestants, and nowdays building absorbed... so... run from these places... also, how many pastors carry fear, pills, heart problems, and all for the question of "how we pay for all of this" because they need money, so if the fellowship don't pay their 10% that's a big BIG problem...
Yup, they are not focusing on just preaching scripture. They are becoming more and more lavish. Churches like these are destroying Christianity.
Not going to debate about the religious aspects here; that's not my business. Cathedrals of the first century were the "spectacles" of their day, with soaring architecture, sculpture, paintings, stained glass art, all of that was meant to wow a visitor, and set them to a mood of contemplation and focus on the metaphysical. I still get that when I go to my own church. Though we don't have any of this kind of theatrical production in our house of worship. Just a single fixed camera for a stream for shut-ins and etc during covid. Nothing sexy or theatrical.
What I get out of this tour though is that they like using Unreal Engine to generate scenery loops and animations, instead of buying stock footage. There's advantages to it, in that you can get a loop that's hyper-specific, bespoke, very controllable, and doesn't look like it's looping... but I gotta say, not sure that actually saves money over just buying the stock footage. It's not 3-d video. It does I suppose become effective when you start to add human figures to that procedural environment: say, re-creating hundreds of people in the Temple, or the crowds for the sermon on the Mount, with many people in period clothing, and Jesus teaching them... or the devil tempting Jesus in the desert and then transporting Him to various locations... If you have the figures modeled, then you save the costs of actors and costumes... you can do it all virtually. But come on: these folks are not hurting for money to pay actors or costumes or props. What they see is a time-saver, I guess. What I see is a solution in search of a problem; if you're just coming to church to see a movie, you could just stay home and stream it. If you need this much spectacle just to hold audience attention, maybe the visuals aren't the problem. Again, though, that's not really any of my business...
Also, all broadcast cameras are genlocked to the switcher; by design. The explanation wasn't very clear: the genlock signal is a synchronizing signal that gets each image source refreshing it's output at exactly the same time; like timing your hand movements to touch a spot on the car windshield as the wipers are swishing back and forth, without letting the wipers hit you. Genlocking the LED screen is just like genlocking another camera. But it isn't strictly necessary: camera shutters can be adjusted to a rate that matches the LED screen refresh rate and removes flicker too; Sony calls that "clear scan" and many better video cameras have that feature... It just makes controlling camera lens exposure more difficult.
What makes Unreal Engine revolutionary in something like "The Mandalorian" is that the framing from the camera is motion-tracked in real time via sensors and tied to the actual physical set when it's fed to the computer drawing the frames for the LED screen, so that the virtual backdrop moves in the background, correctly corresponding to camera movements, matching parallax, etc, in real time, and the actual lighting from the scene on the circular, volumetric LED wall interacts with the actor and the physical props around them in a natural "motivated" way, from every direction. And that background can be blurred as needed to imitate depth of field effects of focus. But hey: That's not what's happening here in the church. At least, not yet. It's still just a big, flat screen with the equivalent of old-fashioned Hollywood rear-projection on it. Just cleaner and more flexible, and using LEDs on the wall instead of a projector beam from in front or behind. It's expensive and its flashy and technically very pretty, but I'm not sure it's fundamentally ground-breaking in the way the Mandalorian or Tom Cruise's "Oblivion" was (where this tech got started). And it's only a tool: only works well if you're a good story-teller with something to say. In a scene from the demo clips, it's basically a stock footage background of a nature scene with a powerpoint slide of a bible passage superimposed on it. Just fancier. This is The Greatest Story Ever Told, of course. I come from a faith tradition where that message works pretty good, stand-alone, without all of... this. But again, that's not my business. If it brings more people to God, I certainly won't complain. Don't stress about the expense; you didn't pay for it. Read Matthew, Ch 20, verses 1-16. Don't get bent out of shape about what you have, versus what others have received. There's no shortage of God's love.
Ya, I felt that their AR/XR use case was lacking. Really did just seem like live rendered video backgrounds and had nothing at all to do with their choice of camera.
Your point about the Cathedrals is really interesting. Those obviously cost a ton of money and resources to construct, but Christians don’t tend to have a problem with it. We do get uncomfortable, however, with the 21st century equivalent to the “spectacle”…. i.e. LEDS, red cameras, etc.
@@joshuawaldvogel725 Cathedrals also took generations to build, and were a physical manifestation of prayer and devotion, thru applied craft. Donating to a building fund today isn't quite the same as sending four or five generations of your own family, trained by you, over to the job site to carve and set the stonework by hand, and paint the murals, six days a week.

This is like when my office switched from Betacam SP analog video cameras to DVCPro digital tape... the head guy at the office bragged upstairs we were now "making digital TV"... well, no; we started recording in a digital format but still A/B-roll master editing to one-inch reel-to-reel video tape then, and distributing on, of all things, U-Matic and beta SP tapes to TV stations. We didn't get to legitimate end-to-end digital acquisition, edit and distribution until at least five more years from that point, when we also switched aspect ratios from 4:3 to 16:9. And then we were distributing bluray and DVD-R disks with Sd and later HD files on them, because we lacked adequate internet infrastructure to just FTP or live stream to stations like we do now. We were (and still do, for big occasions) uplinking via Ku-Band Satellite transponders.

Just wondering how many pastors, church plants, small congregations in poor area's, missionaries etc. Not against the use of technology at all, but this sort of money on what is essentially unnecessary stuff really makes me uncomfortable. Don't doubt the heart and passion, but question the wisdom.

I mean c'mon, Unreal Engine used for church streaming? I don't see the need. Cool concept and vision, but I just don't think there's the need for that type of stuff for church broadcasts.

Congrats on being that guy. There have been many that guys throughout history. There was that guy who didn't see the need for PA systems in church. There was that guy who didn't see the need for cameras in church. There was that guy who just couldn't understand why a church would spend money on broadcast or streaming. Here's the deal. It doesn't matter if you get it if you're the one in the "pew" every week. Our purpose is to spread the Word and let the Word change lives. ANY tool that increases the effectiveness of that purpose should be sought after. And if the church can afford it while being good stewards of their resources, and it fits in with the vision of the church, then there should be no question that they should go for it.
But, that's just my opinion.

So instead of starting an outreach program or funding missionaries, the church decides to spend upwards of $70,000 on cameras (roughly $6k per camera) to make their pastor look cool. Anyone else frustrated by this?
The church should be using the $ to have available for fellow church members in case of financial need., mission trips, outreach purposes, fellowship dinner, etc. ....it's God's $ for his people.
The second your church is more concerned about LED lights and tech than the Gospel itself, its time to find a new church.

This video is simply showing us how a church is using technology to deliver the message better. It does not talk about the church, their budget, their community e.i context..... So i wouldn't judge but rather learn and appreciate what they have done.
Wow, I have to refrain from commenting too much but I hope this church is seeing more miracles , more anointing and more salvation because otherwise it's another entertainment gig. We play Fortnite in our church youth group. Churches don’t sell subscriptions, all their cash is from donations. And the government decided centuries ago that churches don’t have to pay taxes so the church isn’t “evading” anything. Take that up with Biden

Yeah, that's the problem - the glass. Even with broadcast cameras, good glass is 5-20x the price of the camera, especially for long-throw shots, and with cinema cameras you need the same glass but adapted to the larger sensor sizes (and corresponding loss of light). Physics!

What I see here is a group of people who are passionate, skilled, and motivated to use their talents to their fullest in the sanctuary. In that I see no problem.
Megachurch services are staged shows, so very well. As for the local church I'm the tech ministry consultant guy who steps in to rescue the local pastor from buying equipment that's meant for arena concert tours. They can then use that light show money to support missions.
This 'church' redeems every unredeemable thing possible, even singing Eminem on stage just to bring in an audience. This is not outreach, its a concert. People come for the wrong reasons. Its like a trick for non believers. Totally not what the church should be about.

Feels like much of the American church has gotten lost somewhere along the way, and videos like this are so telling. What’s funny is that most of our youth distrusts extravagance like this, and if you really want to “reach the world,” then humbleness, authenticity, even “plainness” will do just fine as long as the gospel can shine through. Just my 10 cents (inflation, yah know!).
Well said! All these high tech are good but it also serves to cater to a seeker-sensitive generation of all things hip and hot. Hope all these exciting tech in this church is not overwhelmed by biblical teachings and practices or these are deemed outdated?
I think of all the grand cathedrals in Europe; often we get too carried away with the accoutrements we lose the presence. This is definitely not to say the Lord cannot use this Komodo-laden church for his glory. Only God has the authority to cast judgment.
I am a worship leader and recording artist so I definitely struggle with the pull towards seeking self-glory, or cool toys, or whatever else the enemy can twist against us. And clearly, art, production, etc are all very good things in and of themselves.
What concerns me is when we are so focused on the organization and the production, we forget that the church is a people, and not a business/leadership structure with fog machines.
However, it is encouraging to think that even over millennia of different shapes of the “mega-church,” our failures cannot tarnish the Gospel. He is unchanged!

As long as the poor and needy get a piece of the bread then there is no issue in spending whatever. If I remember correctly, the temple that Solomon had to build wasn't cheap either. As long as it's for God and for his message being spread in the best quality possible why should I be mad at that..Some of the comments on here while they are people's opinions sounds ridiculous and full of Religion, NOT GOD.

Unfortunately, I didn't understand in the video the connection between technology and the purpose of a gathering and church.
How is this material relevant to the goals of a church and the Sunday gathering?
I am a very gear enthusiast (sound guy) but I wonder if Jesus would validate this. Would Jesus and his followers use the latest technological tools for the Gospel ? Is it useful and necessary and finally, doesn't it come in opposition with the central message in the gospels about financial management (prudence, corruption of finances and priorities to have (widow and orphan) and the role of the Holy Spirit (who convicts of sin). Sometimes these videos give me the impression that we have to force the work of Christ with technology, "always more" where Jesus and his disciplines seems to me to show a different way.
In the end, I watch a lot of videos on the channel about the gear and tech, but I don't remember seeing an explanation of how it relates to the goal we are trying to achieve as a church and the link with the message we found in the Bible. Thanks in advance for the clarification.

To be honest, I watched it and if I were not told, I would think this was a pre-recorded video or footage, so at least right now I am struggling to see the complete benefit of using UNREAL engine in sermons. Perhaps it would be much better for illustrations (Wall of Jericho, Noah's Ark, Tower of Babylon, City of Babylon) maybe with some motion tracking?

They could have cut their budget to a quarter of this with a7c bodies or even just halved it with a7siii/fx3 s and still gotten a result that blows the mind. They are just trying to as the old saying goes “buy their way into heaven.”

our church (First baptist woodstock) is a large church, and only uses blackmagic ursa cameras, and streams only in 1080p 60. Why you would need a red I have no idea.

Why in ever loving hell does a church spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on this? Each of the red komodo cameras cost 6k by themselves, no mounting no attachments nothing just little boxes with sensors in them. The extenders, lenses, and all the stuff to make them work (that wouldn't transfer over from their previous setup) cost hundreds to thousands of dollars (the extender is 600 and you need one for each body, and its the cheapest part). Not to mention the original expendature of tens of thousands to 100k on the LED backgrounds and lighting. This is absurd. We are talking 500k into this and none of it was taxable. This is stupid and insane.

I was really suprised by this video. I'm from europe, we don't have much charismatic Megachurches of this size here. Than I thought maybe it's normal considering things like Hillsong Festivals or Passion. But now I'm wondering that all the comments don't agree with spending that much money. So it isn't normal for megachurches to focus so much on expensive gear in the US?

Once they get their pastor in a VR suit, purchasing expensive cameras won’t matter - they can create “characters” with real time motion graphics - Wondering which church will implement the pastor’s full body suit first! 😳😳😳
Maybe I missed something, but why didn't they consider using proper broadcast cameras? I know broadcast is not cheap, especially the lenses, but it's designed for live production whereas cinema cameras need all sort of Frankenstein stuff to be made to work live.
Probably cost going hand in hand with upgradability/add-ons. But also because the cameras are light, compact and are great for what they are. One of the cheapest video cameras to have global shutter if I remember correctly.
They just simply outperform broadcast solutions in image fidelity. Most major productions live that will be produced after the fact for music are shot on RED and Arri right now. Most often seeing the Komodo and Amira

This sort of monetary spending is almost certainly contradictory with Biblical principles. Yes, UE and red is cool. But it's not the sort of approach to evangelism that Jesus had in-mind. He said to go out throughout the world not make your church as fancy as possible.

Great video with a lot of tech for churches to consider. I only have 4 problems with this video.
1: this seems more like a Hollywood setup for a church. Seems like this church has forgotten that it's a church and not a film studio.
2: most churches don't have this kind of a budget, so a lot of this tech wouldn't be possible for them. Even though the cameras and systems are extremely helpful.
3: the camera movement in this video by the handheld operator is terrible. The pans, zooms and random focus pulling when focusing on a certain point are extremely distracting. The fact that the camera op and editor didn't notive the fact that the exposure wasn't adjusted when there was to much light coming into the camera at certain points. This speaks of inexperience with a camera and editing software.The fact that this wasn't taken into account is troubling.
My advice as a camera op and video editor. Use at least 2 cameras next time for something like this ( It leaves more room to cut between in editing), along with an experienced camera op and video editor.
And 4: why do ou need 12 cameras? 5 or 6 would be enough to get through a church livestream, and that's what I use at my church when directing a livestream. 12 cameras seems like major overkill, and more distraction for the church guests and attendties to pay attention to instead of focusing on God and church.
Might want to rethink that.
There are hollywood movies that can't afford this tech not mention TV shows. Most studios have to rent their cameras.

I struggle with this. As a former member of (any) church, my inner critic wants to call them out on how much all of this costs. But my inner entrepreneur gets it. Every non profit has to be run as a business. It's a church's role to inspire. With the best audio and video setup you can swing, inspiring becomes a lot more attainable. I'm starting to understand megachurches, as long as the pastor isn't sitting on millions of dollars and buying multiple private jets.
Are there any churches currently using Sony cameras like fx9’s for live streaming?
They opened up service one time with the band playing “freebird.” I’ve also seen Andy Stanley’s church start service with “whole lotta love” by Led Zeppelin. These places are not churches and are just community gatherings masquerading as religious institutions.
By the end of the video I almost forgot it was a church.

The Unreal engine is supposed to be that the LED wall responds as the camera moves and zooms and that isnt happening in this instance. This is just cameras pointing at an LED wall. Also the gentleman speaking explains they went with Gold Mount because Vmount is "too tall" and I have no idea what the heck he's talking about as that isnt the case.
This is all cool, production and tech wise. But this is NOT XR niether AR. It is just a procedural render on a flat screen using Unreal Enging. Nothing more. Still cool, tho. But let's not use terms that are not actually been used.

They have to do this because the Holy Spirit is not there at all. They have to keep the masses attracted and focused somehow. If its not the satanic hypnotic music that puts you in a trace, it’s this new special visual effects. This isn't a church, its a place to go a have half hour of some mind numbing hypnotic music, followed by a hipster pastor who prays a 5 second prayer, gives a motivational speech, and they end with more mind numbing music and thats all it is.... people come get "filled" and go home utterly lost. You're better off staying home, reading and praying than going to this kind of new age "church".
Not to mention this "church" is known for play secular songs as there wouldn't exist enough christian songs.

That Fortnite is the go-to game example of the unreal engine is a small detail that doesn’t matter and works for its purpose…. But I will never ever let it go. I’ll think of this at the grocery store 5 months from now and seethe a little.
