    Awesome tour! We're a portable Church of about 400 and it gave me hope knowing a big church like this is doing the same things we are with a single board and waves soundgrid.

    This goes to show at most churches we waste a lot of money. Mega church, One engineer, bus mixes, one sound board. Just because the church can afford it doesn't mean that's a good way to waste money when it can be done very simply at great cost and quality. I simply love this.

    A tip for the waves tune that we are using in our local church. For each singer set a slightly different reference(HZ). For example you have 5 singers (3M 2F). Set one female to 439.5 and the other to 440.5.. For the males set one to 439.5, one to 440, and one to 440.5. It will create a disharmony therefore they will sound more natural, because in real life they would not be able to sing in 440 perfectly.

    What a lovely tour! Thanks so much for allowing us to understand a bit more about the technical operations of Victory Church. Towards the end of the video, I believe that perhaps Chris mistook an RME converter for an SSL interface. But with so many variables in such an intricate system, I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to remember all the details either. With that aside, may God continue to bless your ministries and may we remember to smile (as indicated by the poster backstage) because our work as Church Sound Techs is really helping to change lives through an engaging delivery of the gospel.

    For a church this large, I’d usually expect to have two different consoles. And both volunteer positions.
    But I guess with a paid employee you can expect someone to be able to mix both.

      It’s so sad how people wan’t church things to be so basic and minimalistic and think that is worshipping God but when you look back in the Old Testament the house of God was filled with the more refined gold and silver and God loved it. I just feel like people have been brainwashed by false preaching or false revelations that say better things are for the world and not the church. Sorry, I am having problem to explain my self. Because of the style of church programs it’s impossible for one guy to do the sound for church and broadcast.
      We have large brass band, large choir and orchestra and every service 2 or 3 band playing on the same service.
      We have a lot of things spontaneously happening on the stage. To run everything good we need 2 people with two mixers. One for church and one for broadcast.

    Nice tour, good video and great explanation 👍 question; We use Waves Tuning Live for many years now and always use it in the chromatic mode. Never had any issues with it. I don't understand why people need the scale switch. When you have pretty decent vocals the tuning only has to do some fine-tuning. Also there are not many song which only has a melody in one scale completely (so without incidental flats and sharps). Would like to know what your opinion / experience is on this matter

    • @collabworship
      @collabworship  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Using scale mode definitely makes way for more accuracy in correction. But you're right, when you have accurate vocals to begin with, the chromatic mode works great. We actually use chromatic mode as well and it works great.

    Awesome video. How does Victory bring their bus mix from the Waves program to a computer for streaming? Right now I use waves into an X32, then through a bus mix out the soundboard into a Scarlett audio interface, which then feeds into a computer for streaming. I feel though, the clarity of the sound is not the best. Is it maybe the audio interface is not good enough for all the data running through it? Any advice would be helpful, thanks!

      Not entirely sure on the signal chain that Victory has for their live stream mix. We use a scarlett interface for ours though and don't have any issues. That shouldn't be the issue in sound quality.

    • @dkless101
      @dkless101 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me, I take wireless headphones like airpods and bring up the livestream briefly on my phone during songs to make sure it sounds ok when I feel safe to ignore main mix for a few seconds. But I set the livestream mix to post fader, meaning the channels follow fader changes I make for the main mix too like bringing certain singers up and down. Not perfect but you can get it pretty good.

    • @collabworship
      @collabworship  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Ian - We use a pair of headphones to dial in the mix during rehearsal. Then, we just trust it will sound good during the service. Since most everything is post-fader, the online mix follows the room mix and 9 times out of 10, it sounds great.

    • @christrowbridge8779
      @christrowbridge8779 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Ian, I'd be happy to answer that. Our mix for the stream has developed over time and I would listen over headphones and immediately following a service, I would play it in my truck. The key was listening to it in the same environment consistently. After doing that over a long period (years) the mix was established in such a way that I became one with it in a sense. I would ask my wife at home, the guys in video and even our pastor who was watching from the green room their thoughts and their feedback was very helpful.

    The way they run their processing for vocals is almost just how I did it at my church but then they changed it to be more like Bethel’s. 😑

    Great setup and love the gear, however, Berhinger, SUCKS! literally put in anything else. And the fact that a lot of churches are putting it in because they are cheap, and they ARE CHEAP! also if you have never done digital mixing before, Berhinger is the perfect way for people to run away from digital back to analog. If an end user buys a Berhinger X32 for the first time and has never patched anything in the digital realm before, they are destined to have a horrible mix, and experience, and have no business going to digital.

      Thanks for the comment man. I disagree that in general, Behringer sucks. But there is one exception: the X32. I was cringing when I bought one to test it out. Now I have been using it for 7+ years with great results - and it has always been reliable. I am still shocked. Lol.

      @@collabworship Well I agree, they are fine when you get over the hurdle of the initial setup and routing. Probably has everything to do with the fact that Midas bought Berhinger. So the quality has got a little better

    An hour of or more of music concert in a dark sanctuary and probably a 15 minute sermon .. that’s not worshiping our creator... it’s pathetic.. no victory I see there...

      Your assumption is pathetic. You should go watch some of their services before you make such a judgement. They are one of the few large churches that continue to preach truth.
