    Thank you for this series, it has really helped open our eyes to better ways of doing things, even on a much smaller budget. We just made the commitment to upgrade to a Living as One streaming solution thanks to seeing it used frequently in the various churches you visit both large and small. Ours is definitely on the smaller side but we are confident that it is going massively improve the reliability of our live streams. That has probably been the biggest struggle with our last few streaming solutions.

    I think this video is more of a top level overview, rather than a deep dive into their setup. If you’re common to the production world you’ll recognize some of the EF lenses just by looking at them, but I would’ve loved a more in-depth look at their broadcast lenses and why they chose them, camera connectivity, their choices for wireless HD on stage, and even color profiles/LUT choices. Obviously this will change for each church depending on lighting, distance, etc...but knowing their approach could prove useful. Either way, Always enjoy you giving us a closer look at Bethel’s setup! Thanks 🙏🏽

    • @ChadVegas
      @ChadVegas 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      EF primarily because we're doing a more cinematic approach to broadcasting and are lighter/cheaper than your Cinema lenses. We only use a few ENG lenses. One being our main follow (Canon HJ40) and the other for the jib (Canon HJ16). All cams but 2 are SDI hardlined. Cinegear Ghost Eye 600 for wireless. No LUT just extended video profile. We light for video first then the room. You can find a lot more information on our BethelProduction.com site and we have some Q&A archives on our Instagram that has some info as well.

    • @abelsumanas
      @abelsumanas 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If your church (or wherever you're doing the multi-cam setup) have some small audio mixer consoles laying around, wire a mic and some in-ear monitor amplifiers to them and they're a great cheaper alternative for the intercom. Do note that this probably only works if the cameras are staying in one place and are near to the tech booth (you'll need a longer cable for the IEM if you're doing this for handheld cam ops) My church used two HXR-NX5Rs rigged on a tripod so that we could do this setup.

    It’s interesting though because in some of the music videos some of the cameras are shooting faster frame rates while others seem to be on a steady 24fps so I was hoping to hear why they have 2-3 cameras shooting at what looks like 60 and the others are at 24

    Heres another note about the pocket cameras from BMD: they DO NOT have SDI ports. You'll need to purchase additional equipment to convert the signal for longer runs. SDI is a much more robust connection. I wouldn't trust anything else.

    • @michaeld723
      @michaeld723 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. Experimenting with 6ks for another department right now. Vmount battery with USB. HDMI jumper to a mounted converter. Power the converter with USB. One SDI out so there’s no strain on the HDMI.

      We have two of the studio cams. We have had them for two years I believe. They work, they don't work well depending on your style. Our style is much too quick and light levels change a lot. Those cameras do not do well at all with light shifts or lower lighting. But they do look clean.

      We have the studio 4K 2 and I would strongly recommend moving to the pocket 4K or 6k. They dynamic range and low light is better. You can preload your own luts you design for color and it has dual native iso that is much more precise. The studio 4k 2s are about 4 years older and the technology in the pocket 4ks / 6ks are dramatically better.

I was thinking about using a Lumix Vario PZ lens, that has motorized zoom and autofocus. I am worried about the autofocus going rouge and producing bad shots. Any advice with that? What do they use for wireless cameras or is everything ran over SDI

    • @iamjaredrichard

      We have two wireless units and everything else is ran over SDI. We currently use Cinegears Ghost-Eye 600 for wireless

      Jared Richard do you have issues with artifacts/digital noise with those units?

    • @iamjaredrichard

      Rob Elder it does happen on occasion. There are 10 different frequencies to work with though so usually finding one that works isn’t too bad.

    I feel the background music level is detracting and distracting from the actual content.

      Yup, music has no place in a detailed tutorial like this unless it's muted during the speaking parts.

    Why do modern American churches seem to hate letting in God's good sunshine? No windows!

    • @alivemusic9428
      @alivemusic9428 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      To make it look more cinematic and have more control. The windows would give too bright of a light or not enough and it is easier without.

    • @KendalSmithy
      @KendalSmithy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alivemusic9428 I belong to a church where the windows are huge and the people love to sit in the light. We don't need theatre lights because we don't do theatrical church. We simply praise God in song together, read His word, pray and listen to Bible ministry. When it's dark we use the room lights plus a couple of spots for the platform. That's all we need, and our hall is packed every Sunday morning (outside Coronavirus lockdown of course).

    • @alivemusic9428
      @alivemusic9428 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KendalSmithy I understand that and it is really great but for a much bigger church like Bethel, Hillsong, Elevation it doesn't work. They are broadcasting to thousands of people and have thousands in the venue. But if they could I'm sure they would consider natural light more.

    • @KendalSmithy
      @KendalSmithy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alivemusic9428 Excellent point. To get good, even daylight into a large auditorium you need height, and the higher the building the greater the cost. I guess there's also a danger that smaller churches try to emulate the big ones and block out the light for no real reason other than to make themselves look bigger than they are.

    • @michaeld723
      @michaeld723 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Consistency and control. I know that every time I turn on that camera, the settings are almost dialed in. I’m not fighting against an uncontrollable variable with natural light. I love windows in church! But for broadcast, it’s not helpful.

    What is your obsession with Bethel

    • @AdamOusley
      @AdamOusley 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Regardless of if you like Bethel's theology or not, you can't question their production quality. They are the standard when it comes to super high quality video and audio in the church.

      Tom Brush
      It’s not necessarily an obsession, the Bethel people are just really good at what they do. In his first trip to Redding, Jake was able to capture content for an hour long video, in his second trip he captured enough content for 8 videos!
