Toyota has always been stuck in a dilemma when it comes down to the Camry while not exactly an economy model its neither exactly luxury, to make it subpar is to ignore the fact that in the Malaysian market the Camry is considered an executive model, to make it luxurious is to siphon sales from their luxury devision Lexus
@2:27 Eu Jin, the Toyota badge is plastic because of Toyota Safety Sense P being present. It’s a worthwhile trade off and interestingly Mercedes also does this to house the Distronic / collision prevention assist plus radar inside the large three pointed star
5:05 My opinion. We in Malaysia probably had an impression that the Camry are luxurious cars usually owned by the more upper class people(And probably most of the D segment cars sold here). But meanwhile in the United States, Camrys are pretty much everyday normal cars. Sometimes commonly used a rental cars. Sort of like a Myvi or a Vios to them. The latest Camry is pretty nice now, and its more luxurious than before. But it's definitely not gonna be as nice as something like a Merc or something. I do like the new Camry. It seems pretty good now. But also awaiting for the latest Corolla to come in here. That one seemed to be well praised by reviewers too. However knowing UMW, they're most likely only gonna bring in the sedan variant and not the hatchback. Also it'll probably take them 20 years.
@@lambolim2178 The closest thing you can get to a Vios in the US is a Toyota Yaris. Which for some reason is literally a rebadged Mazda 2 for the US market.

Japanese quality are reliable and can stay for a very long time. German quality is perceived quality. So the choice is yours, reliable car or spend a lot on maintenance.
My first initial thought too-No new powertrain, but I suppose it's okay? After all it's a Japanese brand, they should know what they're doing. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Brandon C. The 2.5 engine in the new Camry is a downgrade compared to the Hybrid powertrain in the previous Camry. And the new Camry is much more expensive despite having old engine and almost same equipment list. Wait a year or two, when the sales slow only then they will bring in new engines and better specs.
Celine Ong It is a CBU though, and safety equipment has been vastly improved, thus the price increase. I believe the CKD will be significantly cheaper. I am considering getting one if there is a CKD hybrid.
I saw one on the road the other day, and it just so happened to be beside the previous gen Camry, the size difference was incredible. This new one is more Lexus ES than Camry! That being said, given that Toyota's pricing strategy has pushed this new Camry away from the Teana's and Accord's, and more into the Mazda6, Ford Mondeo and B8 VW Passat, how does it stack up against that upper D segment lot?
You can't go wrong with a Toyota. However, price-wise they seemed to have overestimated their name. There are enough options out there for consumers to choose from. Nice review dude. Keep it up. Thx
I have driven before this new model. The handling and the new look and the spec all is good. As a previous generation hybrid owner it’s lack of power. The TNGA is really good. Hope UMW TOYOTA will bring in the new engine to all consumer in Malaysia.
20K differences with 2.4 accord but Accord is a CKD, less bells and whistles, not on par with quality & fittings, still old 5 speed and multilink suspension only.
I went for a test drive recently, the engine roars when I press hard on the accelerator but didn’t feel the acceleration I was expecting. HUD was out of focus maybe just for that particular car, otherwise quite good but still think it’s overpriced
agree with the well sorted ride and handling, but the engine power just sucks at speed below 100km/h the cabin space is also reduce compare to the old one especially is you sit 3 people , the outer seat person will hit the pillar very easily which is not happening on the old generation At night the ambient lighting is good for a Toyota, never seen them really do this even on Lexus model
