    I've had giant danios before. Never had any problem with them. But as you said they are very active swimmers and they need a large tank.

    I've had giant danios for years and I highly recommend them for anyone with a 30+ gallon tank. They need space and schoolmates and that's about it. As long as they have others of their kind to rough around with, they seem to ignore other fish.

    Thanks for the info. I had 2 and the pet store said they would school with my glofish danios fine. 3 weeks I started noticing that my glofish danios where disappearing and then I did a water change and noticed that they were dying. I then see the giant one being aggression with the danios. I'm so sad. I should of never got that giant danio

      @tomongvue6934 unfortunately that is a tough thing to witness but from that whole experience you have learned a great deal about the fish behavior, and it will never happen again! Sorry you had to go through that but everytime I loose a fish I look at myself as a better aquarium hobbyist, because with each death comes lessons! I appreciate you checking out my video!🙂

    Love the video and the giant danio has become my favorite fish solely on the fact the are so active. Also when tank conditions are right the actual gain some nice color to them. Also must have for beginners due to how hardy they are you almost can't kill these things even if you wanted.

      @Free Discharge hey! Thats awesome to hear! They really are great fish, Personally I have good luck with rainbowfish, check out the dwarf neon rainbowfish! That would be a neat school with giant danios! Also any type of bottom feeder would do well

      @@MorphedWombat I have 5 of these danios, and 5 tiger barbs. They seem to work very well together.

      I can recommend kyathit danios, they are a bit smaller and have an interesting pattern and usually school along with the Giants. Also hillstream loaches if your tank is a river stream theme scape/biotope.

    Nobody told me that they were jumpers. One day he was there and the next day he was gone vanished. Only had one with one rainbow in a 55g. They were doing so well together.

    • @lakesregionaquariums2887
      @lakesregionaquariums2887  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oof so sorry to hear that, they are definitely capable jumpers, but maybe try 3 or 4 of them next time, sometimes if they are the only one of their species in a tank that can stress them out and send them to do questionable behavior

      Yea i learned the hard way.. lots of floating plants definitely help, if you like that look.

    I've got a couple of danios. But i noticed that they don't eat the fish food i put. I don't use any Branded fish food. Just food i get from the pet store. Is there any recommendations??

    • @lakesregionaquariums2887
      @lakesregionaquariums2887  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @chamodyugeeshwara5821 id probably not feed them for a couple days if they are new, let them just relax and get used to the aquarium, the food brand Bug Bites is a great option for a balanced diet. Thanks for checking out my video!

    Nice video, pretty much on point 👍 I have 16 Gs and one seems to have a bit trouble balancing, especially when dash-turning at high speed. Kinda leans sideways in one direction at 45 degree, but stabilizes again after a few seconds. He doesnt have any physical disease or anything and looking healthy. Hes eating normal and is active like the others. Any idea what it could be and is there a chance of recovery? I love my Gs and id be so sad to loose one.

    • @lakesregionaquariums2887
      @lakesregionaquariums2887  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! Really appreciate you checking out the video!
      It sounds like it could be a small amount of air that is trapped in his swim bladder causing him to navigate at the 45 degree angle, id suggested feeding thawed out peas, unshell them and then mush it together with your fingers, that might help or it might just be some sort of neurological thing, if hes acting normal besides that I wouldn't worry, but the peas should help if its a bladder problem, and it will greatly enhance all of your other fishs immune systems!

    • @didnthurt4077
      @didnthurt4077 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lakesregionaquariums2887 Great, thanks a bunch! Will keep the pea suggestion in mind, but i think it could be really an air bubble cause i fed them granulate the day before and it doesnt sink right away. They be dashing upwards like crazy catching all the food on the surface. So maybe one really did catch a bubble in the fight for food. I'll keep an eye on the guy, hope he farts it out soon 😅
      Oh, and do you have a suggestion how to feed them equally? The bigger Gs (especially female) always catch the food first and dont leave much for the smaller guys. Yea, i know its survival of the fittest ☺️ I tried feeding bigger pellets so the bigger ones get to eat first and then feed smaller foods, but those females are hungry as hell. The other day all the females were round like a baloon.. looked like they gonna burst anytime soon.

    • @lakesregionaquariums2887
      @lakesregionaquariums2887  ปีที่แล้ว

      @didnthurt4077 anytime my friend, and with the feeding situation you can try to feed a pinch up top wehre you normally would and immediately after put a pinch in your filter output where the water goes flowing into the tank that will usually jet it down under the surface and while the larger ones are preoccupied with the initial pinch the other smaller ones will have a chance to go below, and forage. I always feed in random areas of the tank to spread out the common feeding ground 🙂

    • @didnthurt4077
      @didnthurt4077 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lakesregionaquariums2887 thanks man! I actually always turn off my filter when i feed them. Its interesting they learn once the flow is gone its feeding frenzy time and they waiting at the surface ☺️ I will give it a shot and see how they doing👍

    • @didnthurt4077

      Little Update, hes in a quarantene tank on a 3 day diet now. Ordered some epsom salt and going to bath him for 10 minutes once the salt arrives. Hes actually doing fine right now darting around the tank like normal without laying sideways when doing U turns. I think it must have been overfeeding, so after the 3 day diet ima feed him small amounts of normal food and see if it comes back. I guess that means i have to adjust the amount of food for all of them since i cant feed just one guy less or maybe twice a day small amounts.

  • @kylemendoza8860
    @kylemendoza8860 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Are they easy to breed? Do they make good feeder fish?

    • @lakesregionaquariums2887
      @lakesregionaquariums2887  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you find a pair and catch them dancing around each other, you can remove them into a smaller tank, and let them do their thing for a week or so, try and have java moss or something in there at the bottom, so the babies can hide from the parents, then Id remove the parents so the fry can grow up. When they are full grown and even smaller they are incredible swimmers and very fast so depending on a fish you are trying to feed it may have trouble catching them and may run into objects in the tank, thats just my thought, I have never actually fed these to fish before

    • @didnthurt4077
      @didnthurt4077 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, but they are too fast to catch.. especially if you have a lot of them. I tried and i gave up on catching the pair 😅
