    Just so you guys know, I just bought a brand new Sig P290RS from Allied Arms in Charleston, SC for $289.00

    I have the 290 RS Liberty Edition. Absolutely love it. Bad news about those hydrashocks. Out of anything less than a 4" barrel, they don't expand. I've done several gel and water tests w them. Use Critical defense 115gr Hornady. They work perfectly every time

    It’s September of 2018 and I love this little Sig until I was told I shouldn’t. My brother recently gave me his P290 with less than 50 rounds shot through it as a gift. I’m a Glock guy. I have the 42 and 43 along with many other Glock models. I shot this for the first time earlier in the week. ‘’I love this little gun” until I was told I shouldn’t.
    After shooting the P299 Went to get the slide milled on my Glock 23 to mount a trijicon. I told the dealer about my new Sig acquisition... He said, P290 = garbage. Worst Sig ever produced. He then proceeded to pull off of his hip a New Sig P365. I HAD NEVER SEEN NOR HEARD OF IT....
    Now this is the gun you want. Feel it. It’s lighter, has over 10 round capacity and it’s striker fired like your Glock...... f’ck I had to have one... Went home and researched the hell out of it. Seems like the new P365 needs a little fine tuning. Trigger spring failures, striker pin’s are snapping like toothpicks. I’m watching videos in complete horror. I was all set to buy one, but will wait on the sidelines-until the bugs are worked out. Long and short here. I love this little P299, double action & sporting a hammer. It’s very accurate, trigger pull is smooth, the stipling feels great, over 200 rounds without any failure ......So.......if this is Sig’s worst gun ever produced , I can’t imagine what their better models shoot like. This little guy is a keeper! And when the P365 is all worked out, I’m in. 10+ in a 9mm is a total game changer, and as consumers, we win, because every other Mfg is working feverishly in the race for higher capacity micro’s, or mini’s or whatever acronym they come up with. . Thanks for producing this video. Sorry I’m a few years late... :-)

      If you have good luck w/the 290rs, and it shoot well, and doesn't malfunction...then it's a great gun. Despite what the gun shop guy says! I think he just wants to sell a lot of guns! Anytime someone tells u what u have=garbage, and what they have= greatest. That should tell u something!

    Thanks for the review, you always do a good job covering all the details in your videos.
    Personally I like the Sig P232 for everyday carry. Hard to tell just how small the P290, looks tiny in your hands.

  • @oldhunter123
    @oldhunter123 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love this pistol. Regarding size, it is right between a Kahr P380 and a Glock 26. It is roughly the same size as a Kahr PM9. My P290RS has been extremely reliable and very accurate. I would sum up my experience by saying that the Sig P290RS is as comfortable to carry as a Kahr, as reliable as a Glock, and as accurate as a Sig. The trigger is heavier than a PM9 but lighter than a S&W J-frame .38. It's an ideal carry gun.

    Great gun, easy to conceal, easy to shoot. Highly recommended.
    Paid $600 in 2012, two mags , a paddle holster and a laser attachment!

    In my option this is the best built and most reliable pocket pistol out there. Seems to not be as sensitive to bullet weight as the Kahr PM9 ,Kimber Solo,Sig P938.

    Really nice that you tell it like it is! I know Sig pistols work and built with quality. I have the P 938 and in the morning I am picking this EDC up!. Sigs eat ammo others won't and I'm going to get what I pay for and my life is worth more than a less expensive pistol. I'll carry 2 better than 1 High Cap 9 mm pistol. CCW since 1976

    Very helpful. My wife chose this pistol-really feels comfortable for her. But I'm the one who has to clean it and it isn't fun getting that pin out. This video helped me tremendously the first time I took it apart and as a refresh every time I clean it.

    Thanks for the review, looks like a nice gun. At 10:50 you mention that it is a "blowback design" which is incorrect. This is a locked breech design.

    Huge Sig fan 25+ yrs. 225, 226, 229, 210-6 etc.
    The break down killed this one.
    Hey SIG, why cant you build a Shield like gun?
    For 1/2 the price your getting killed.

    Not sure if you mentioned this, but what is that little rubber "button" on the right hand grip? At 15:25 of your vid. Is that a button for when/if you decide to put a laser on?

      Button fills hole where the mag release would be if moved to right side.

    It is a small gun. I wouldn't say it's as small as a Ruger LCP .380 or Keltec P32, but it's definitely a small enough gun to carry and not even know you have it.

  • @tarekabdelfatah7159

    I wonder how wouldn't second round not fire as long as this gun is just double action and the hammer doesn't lock means after the first shot the slide will go back take another round is full speed and put the second round in chamber with the hammer coming back same speed ...so how that second round doesn't fire what is the mechanism they used

    Like everything else in the culture, there's a dimension of fashion to firearms. Once upon a time it was the snub nosed .38 revolver. The latest flavor is the .380 and particularly the Glock 42. The passing of each trend is reflected in the cost. I forgot what I paid for my Sig. I'm sure it was more than $289.99. But the purpose of legally carrying a gun stays the same. This gun is an excellent choice,. It's a quality made, reliable, easily concealed 9 mm. semi-auto. BTW, it also is available in .380....

    Is the trigger plastic/polymer or metal ? Is it cheap (flimsy), I know its SIG quality, I have a few, but it looks sort of cheap if that makes sense....Thanks !!

      It's polymer, but the pistol is exceptionally well made , in my opinion

    Greater Jew. It lookalike takedown is the same as the SP2022. In which case the ease of removing the pin will get better over time.

    I would rather buy a SCCY CPX2 9mm 10+1, double action long steady smooth pull, life time warranty, very slim 1" wide, 5.7" long, 4"high- comes with 2 each 10 rnd mags. barrel length -3.1" disappears on my 3 o'clock carry position IWB Works great always 2000 rnds no hiccups. breaks down easier, & less recoil.
    $249.00
    Sig P290 9mm - Overall Length: 5.5 in
    Overall Height: 3.9 in
    Overall Width: 0.9 (1.1 in with slide catch lever)
    Barrel Length: 2.9 in
    1. 6rnd.- 1. 7rnd mags
    $429

  • @8literbeater
    @8literbeater 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is definitely not a micro-compact pistol. It is a sub-compact pistol.
    It's 5.5 inches long and weighs 1 1/4 pounds.
    Now the P3AT weighs 1/2 pound, and the LCP weighs 9.4 ounces, both are barely over 5 inches long. Those are micro-compact.
    I guess you could say they're small "for a 9mm", but then you could call a Thompson Contender a micro-pistol, because it's small "for a .375 H&H".

    Thanks for the video Makarov9; I'm subscribing.
    a couple of thoughts not directed to YOU but taking the opportunity to address them:
    1-"its not cheap": from a "cheap 350$ low quality gun Vs a 650$ quality gun" do you think your life is worth the 300$ difference? Always buy the BEST, and more reliable that of course works for YOU as individual as you can. Those 2-300$ savings might cost your life when a FTE happens... Just a thought. Don't let $$ dictate the gun you get. Get the best for YOU.
    2- "Difficult to take apart": It is shocking to me that just 5 minutes of fiddling with a gun to take apart (which BTW its done 1/month?) its suddenly something to consider while buying as gun. I do prefer Glocks because I take them apart in 30 seconds and see every component but C'mon!? 5 more minutes using 3 fingers has became that much of a deal in our lazy society? If the buyer cannot take it apart, he can leave it for the gunsmith to clean it for him for a small fee....
    3-All CHL should carry they weapons ON them. On of the biggest premisses of carrying a gun is to have it concealed but READILY accesible. I know that usually people don't take it seriously (Self defense and being a little uncomfortable having something pocking your belly/hip/butt/etc).
    The scenario you mention is exactly what ladies should do (paired with being completely aware of their surrounding and specially if they are at night by themselves)
    Cheers and keep up the good work!
    BB

      How often do you shoot them?

    • @mikejohnson7202
      @mikejohnson7202 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leonard Jenkins I shoot them 3 or 4 times a year and they may have 200 to 300 rounds in What kind of problems have you had?

    • @leonardjenkins8968
      @leonardjenkins8968 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just opening the box...the rear site was missing a dot. Ordered another one. First time on the range it completely locked up after about 20 rounds. It took a gun smith to get it apart. Several of my buddies had similar problems. Feeding problems, you name it. There is a website where you can do all this stuff to 'em, but if you shoot regular they break. Get a name brand..Glock, Sig, etc. Don't trust your life with a cheap firearm.

    I dont think criminals usually expect women to be carrying any weapons at all, because most of them dont.
