    I got my 290RS a couple of months ago. I'm not disappointed! It's an ideal size for the AIWB carry I use. It took a bit of time to get adjusted to the trigger. Rather than use live ammunition, I got some snap caps and practiced dry firing with those. I'm not sure if snap caps are required. It helped a lot! I've practiced with 115 gr ball ammo and have not had any malfunctions with 200 rounds. Field stripping, which I'd read was difficult, was not. Using the 8 round magazine with one in the chamber gives me enough fire power. This is my EDC from now on.

    Thanks for watching and commenting. I agree with you. As I mentioned I prefer the Glocks and M&Ps which ave triggers that are far easier to master. The one exception is the Kahr trigger which although long it is smooth and allows much better control. However, if the DOA trigger can be mastered with practice.

    Interesting insight. I prefer and try to ride resest the trigger every time. I was trying to learn where that was as this gun was a loaner. I do want to be consistent so thanks for pointing that out! Much appreciated... please check out some of the other vids on the channel.

    Have one myself, Sig P290RS, used from a local gun shop. 1st owner had it 4 days and was disappointed, so I grabbed it up as soon as I saw it. You have to understand SIG's trigger pull is long, and so to make it work for me I changed the trigger out for something a bit easier from "Galloway Procession" to use along with a better recoil spring. These changes allowed the gun to work better for me and operate smother with less effort and better accuracy. And with the correct adjustments, reduce that crazy long trigger pull dramatically.

    Excellent review, as usual. Your vids are always very informative and non biased. I'm planning to pick one up to replace my Walther PPS for my ultra compact carry. I love double/single action for carry, and am not a big striker fired carry fan since I don't prefer a DA long first pull as my only safety and don't want a non safety, 4# trigger in my pants, this DA only option seems like a perfect fit for me. Right now, my AIWB daily carry is a P225A1 and for colder weather OWB, P220 Legion or P226 Tacops. May as well round it all off with this puppy haha. Thanks again and nice shooting.

    I got one of these for my birthday after I shot one that a friend of mine had at the range one day. I was very impressed with the ACCURACY of this little gun. Mine has no problems of any kind. It functions flawlessly with all kinds of ammo. Steel case, brass case, +P, FMJ, hollow points, it doesn't care, it just shoots. Nice video, but I wish the guy had better muzzle discipline. He points that thing all around like a pickle instead of a pistol.

    I still like the "old school" P232 in 380 for EDC. Great accuracy, good feel with a full grip, DA/SA trigger with no manual safety. A lot of options around today for small carry guns in 9mm and I'm sure the P290 would be a great choice.

    Thank you for a very informative and "real" video that all of us can relate to. I am picking one of these up on Monday. What, if any, are any negatives you can think of?

    • @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC
      @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      givemaboot Thanks for commenting. Sig makes great guns! However, in this case, I was notl happy with the trigger. I think the M&P SHield or the New Ruger LC9 S, have a better trigger and are easier to shoot for most folks. Its a personal preference...I like striker fired guns better.

    4:56 did he say at an ocular cranial Head shot situation? My god man just say head shots.

    • @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC
      @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +retiredLBPD Thanks for your comments. I actually prefer to target a special area in the head. In conversations with several combat vets, they describe hit to the "head" that don't get into the ocular cranial "T: zone, are not guaranteed to stop a threat. So In our classes we stress hits in the "upper chest", "pelvic girdle" and ocular cranial zone. It may be too much but it seems to help people get hits into special agrees and balances speed and accuracy.

    Understanding the problems of layered clothing and drawing such a small grip weapon I would prefer to carry smaller guns pocket carry...Would this be small enough to allow pocket carry with plenty of room to draw unfettered?

    • @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC
      @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes as long as it's carried in a pocket holster that covers the trigger completely.

    • @82delta
      @82delta 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course. That is common sense. I know you had to say it though for liability reasons. Thanks.

    I didn't hear you give the wt. of it, important on a pocket gun. So far I've heard 19oz., 20oz., 20.5oz and 21oz. with an empty mag. What does Sig say?

    How would u compare this sig to the glock 26 which feels better

    • @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC
      @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Different types of guns and there isn't a way to compare. The Sig is a single stack 9mm with a double action trigger. Its really a nano size (super small). The Glock is a double stacked 9mm and a striker fired gun. Larger and has greater capacity. Thanks for watching.

    Just got one! A little disappointed compared to the feel of my LC380 in most ways.
    - Gotta keep trigger fingertip from hanging on my left (support) hand
    - Slide is kinda bulky and heavy
    - Trigger reset is very long
    - Field stripping is tricky; Holding back stiff slide and trying to pull out/push thru the lock pin takes some finger strength and, at least in my case, patience. I suppose this is to keep external controls to a minimum (just the slide lock).

    Over the past few weeks I've looked at about every video on the Glock 42....Many times reviewers complain that Glock should have made a sub compact single stack 9 mm, apparently unaware of how many are already in the market place, not the least of which is the Sig 290rs...What wasn't out there was a user friendly .380. To a man (and a few women) all acknowledge the S&W Bodyguard and the Ruger LCP are smaller and easier to conceal but have poor triggers and are hard to grip. Don't people understand physics? Make a gun that weighs in the neighborhood of 10 oz. have it put a 380 projectile out the front at 800+ fps and than wonder why it's "snappy"??? Enter the G42, a bit bigger and heavier and with a very nice, easy to manage trigger... Make the G42 into a 9 mm and what have you got? A Sig 290rs, a Ruger LC9, An XDS...a Kimber, a Rohrbaugh or a Bobeck... If you want a quality, single stack "shootable" the Sig 290rs 9 mm, this is your ticket!

    I was thinking of buying the P290rs 9mm. I was curious on the recoil of the weapon, I bought a Ruger LC9S non pro and don’t like how hard it hits. Seen lots of videos and forums about the P290rs, but nothing about the recoil. Any response would be greatly appreciated!

    I cut my shooting teeth on DA revolvers, so DAO autos pose no problem. I much prefer the P290RS over the 442 it replaced.
