I love that you hear this throughout the game as the Bard's theme but the second you get to this point and find out it's not your theme, it's a diss track towards you
In my D&D campaign I actually got to use this song in its entirety. The players could have prevented it on several occasions, but no. They released what turned out to be the major villain.
An imprisoned ancient red dragon tricked the group by masquerading as a silver dragon, and presented them with a plan to free him from his prison. The group opted to go with the plan he presented to them, which involved the bard (the best bluffer and sneaker in the group) getting a couple of magic items to go and steal a key while the others provided a distraction for the keeper of said key. The bard then used a one-time teleport item to get back. The dragon got out, revealed his true form, gave him a bag of coins, slaughtered the reinforcements threatening the rest of the group and flew off. Sometime later they realised he had burned down Silverymoon, and the remains had been taken over by barbarians, who had learned the story from their diviner/shaman, and greeted them as heroes with this song. The group is entirely made up of good characters, but they have no grounds to fight the barbarians now, as they've even protected the remaining citizens against orcs and the like. The players really hate that dragon though... And me, when I remind them...
It's been 13 years since I played the game, I still know all the words to this song and sing it regulary when doing the dishes, all of the Bard's Tale songs are so freaking catchy ...
I really love how despite how much of a clueless, greedy, lazy, selfish, pervert he is. He's still a hero with a heart of gold at the end of the day. "Brave talk for someone who picks on crazed half-wits with more bravery than common sense. I assure you, you will soon be jooning him."
More games need to have musical numbers, it adds so much atmosphere. I still remember the tavern songs from Betrayal in Antara and it's been like 15 years since I played it.
I spent about an entire week memorizing the words to this song and a few others back when played the game... and I'm getting a relapse. Need this game again!
I never got to Finishthis game. it was the first and only Bard's Tale Igot to Half play before my Ex got ride of my PS2. I had gotten two years before we met and had been working a lot. I got injured and was half way through when the PS2 went missing. Lucky I a safe place for my games and still have it and a dozen other games lol
Pro Tip for new Bard's Tale players: DON'T WASTE YOUR ADDER-STONES!!! Find the Old Hag summon in the mystic forest and use her instead~! Adder-Stones should only be used in "oh shit!" situations. I learned that the hard way... >_
How come this isn't in the Vikings tv series? Vikings have always been known for their lavish musical numbers, right? At the very least, it should be the song for the opening credits.
Because it is very specific about the disasters and gavok and suffering the clueless main char unleashed in every part of the way and be carefull of spoilers to the creative ending options
@TheRealPyxx The Bard's Tale. Excellent game, huge amount of great songs. Not just that but its a role playing game that openly makes fun of just about every aspect of role playing games. A friend of mine with really bad Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder was able to play the entire game without his attention fading even slightly, if that says anything about how much fun the game is and how often jokes come up.
Thanks for uploading this. Despite the bad copy/paste Dark Alliance combat system, I loved the plot and dialogue. Loved it on the PS2. Gonna re-buy it on Steam.
I have been playing too many modern games lately. I thought this was some good/evil choice to like team up with the vikings. So i just rushed the armory thinkin "well im not gonna let these guys push me around" and missed this awesome song.
@khorn1994 some bases did, the shop we had only got stocked when a convoy went out to re-supply, we still didn't get much because god forbid POG's don't have every luxury, but thankfully this got picked up
3 parts, as in that there are 3 different games? I know just about one. And yup, I know about the android version, and I love it! Thanks for telling me :)
@Kane Vision the Bard's Tale is a series. this one which did get a remaster is the one that pokes fun at the genre and is not part of the series except in name. the rest of the Bard's Tale are more straightforward rpg games with a coherent narrative.
@Kane Vision i got the bard's tale 4 deluxe as part of my humble bundle classic subscription on pc. the remastered came trilogy as an unmentioned bonus perk. will get around to it when i feel the need to undertake a classic rpg gaming session. the remastered and snark Bard's Tale i have in the back catalog on steam. i remember the first version having like six cd-roms on pc. so it would have been two or three game discs on ps2? i remember the days of pc games having twenty floppy discs and six cd-roms. plus downloading a gig taking two or three days on even high speed at the time.
I was mistaking there is a bards tale trilogy but its different. you can get the trilogy, well the first two games of the trilogy on android i have not tried them yet so i don't know how epic they are. have you tried them if so how good are they?
Those two games are old. Sure, great games from that era, but they really are hard to figure out when you are used to the skill system of today. I've got the trilogy myself, it came together in a package when I bought the bards tale on steam. The games are hard to figure out, but if you are as stubborn as a mule. (unlike me) you'll learn how to play the games. I don't have any way of recording, so I can't really upload a video. But The package is rather cheap. So buy it if you are interested
ooo. yea as you progress through the game. ITs hard for me to remember too, but pretty much you are inadvertantly destroying the world. The princess is a fucking demon, and I loved the ending cuz I just said "screw it" and left.. no last boss. :D though once I did fight the demon.. you can fight the druids and be rich at the end.
I love that you hear this throughout the game as the Bard's theme but the second you get to this point and find out it's not your theme, it's a diss track towards you
it's even better it's a remix of the classic the bards tale main theme which was round about over a decade old when this game came out
Singing vikings? arse-turd? accidental dragon attack?
where was this game hiding all this time? gotta play this stuff.
Eslam Green it hides in some of the old ps2 games and i remeber having a lot of fun with it
+Eslam Green This was an optional part in the game that got you some decent loot, and a few tokens.
+Eslam Green Its on Ipad and android now. Best game Ive ever encountered on any mobile device. Hilarious stuff.
Pasan Etternavn
And Cheap too. A full size console game for little more than buck or two... And a good one at that.
one of my all time favorites, and its got a remastered and a resnarkled verison :D
In my D&D campaign I actually got to use this song in its entirety. The players could have prevented it on several occasions, but no. They released what turned out to be the major villain.
how did that work it sounds hilarious

that is hilarious good job that is amazing
Thank you very much, I was really happy about how it worked out :)
As a new DnD player, I applaud you for creatively tipping your hat to one of the greatest games of our time!

Bard's Tale 2020! Wohoo, still remember this gem
The bard goes places... such a hero
I really love how despite how much of a clueless, greedy, lazy, selfish, pervert he is. He's still a hero with a heart of gold at the end of the day.

Currently deciding if I should buy this game on steam. This song sold me on it
Absolutely. 100% my dude.
Did you do it?
Best song in the game.
Tale of the Nuckelavee is better.
I especially appreciate that it uses the main menu theme as the backing instrumentals.
I spent about an entire week memorizing the words to this song and a few others back when played the game... and I'm getting a relapse. Need this game again!

Ohhh. I have to replay this game once more. It's things like this that make games unique and awesome. I really hope for a remake or sequel!
This was always my favorite song xD

If you start the game with a luck of 20 you will find a shit ton of them
I took your advice, got to the last boss with 100+ adder stones.
Needless to say, thank you kindly!
Followed your advice, and used them sparingly. I had like 145 by the time I reached Fiannoch's Chambers.
Lmfao, I exactly did that, I've used like a max of 40 adder stones for each boss battle (ง ͠° ͟ل͜ ͡°)ง
Больше 10 лет назад я её прошёл. И теперь хочу пройти её ещё раз🥲🥲🥲

it's almost ten years old. At that point they're almost certain they won't.
10 years doesn't nix the remake idea.
I beat the game more times then I can remember, but either I forgot, or I just never got that part ^^
Vikings singing = hilarious, yet suprisingly epic win
It's something they would do though
Heck, haven't played this one since 2006. REALLY need to reinstall it. I think there's never been another game that's made me laugh this much.
3 parts, as in that there are 3 different games? I know just about one. And yup, I know about the android version, and I love it! Thanks for telling me :)
This song didn't stop me for hating the boss fight
@TheRealPyxx As the description says, it's from The Bard's Tale.
Too bad i accidentally murdered all the vikings and never got to listen to this song....
I did the same thing
Did the bard actually release that dragon at some point though? I played through the game, but must've missed that part.
@Kane Vision no it occured in one of the bard's adventures that took place before the game. the nucklavee is an undead creature remember
@Kane Vision the Bard's Tale is a series. this one which did get a remaster is the one that pokes fun at the genre and is not part of the series except in name. the rest of the Bard's Tale are more straightforward rpg games with a coherent narrative.

played this game back then on ps2, but I can't remember this scene. Is this missable?
yes you can miss going to the area.
Such a great game...modern-game-makers, why you no remake?!
I was mistaking there is a bards tale trilogy but its different. you can get the trilogy, well the first two games of the trilogy on android i have not tried them yet so i don't know how epic they are. have you tried them if so how good are they?
Best game.... ever!!"
Do we ever learn in the game who is the guy people keep confusing the bard with ?
There's no confusion. The Bard really did all of that. Although, probably unwittingly.
I hope there's gonna be giant vikings in the new one.
Now in the Jumbo Bundle 10 :D
they had planned it at one point, but have yet to actually make it...which is unfortunate, because this game is HILARIOUS

I guess 3 peoples here lives in Finnstown... :/
Such an epic game
that too
I knew this song because of; The Clancy Brothers.
@TheRealPyxx Read the description duuuuuh
What game is this from??
The Bard's tale
This game was epic. I mean, the hilarity was on Shrekian levels
Wait? You haven't beaten the game yet uh?
This is what Bush was singing after 9/11
You may know this but there are 3 parts of the bards tale (i think.) also it is now on Android. :)
dude i bought this game in iraq for $10, best ten bucks ive ever spent, minus all the dimbags
3 townsfolk were tortured by listening to this.
Remind me of Skyrim.
