You're a great dad man, Hotdog will remember these trips as some of the best times of his life 💯👊
Awesome car! 3 pedals forever!
Went on a date with a girl back in 67; I got to drive her dad's brand new 67 Impala - because he wouldn't let his daughter ride in my '48 Plymouth...
I mean the hood of the Impala is practically as big as the entire ‘48… “Safety!”
I used to live in Raymond, Washington back in the early 1970's. I taught at Willapa Valley High School on Highway 6 in Menlo. Back in 1976 when I began my 42 year long teaching career that old Chevy was only 9 years old. I had a '66 Buick Special at the time. I wore it out and traded it for a '72 Skylark coupe. I taught there until 1984. The high school where I taught used to play football with Toutle Lake High School every year. I know that rest stop well.
Back in 2009 a good friend and I drove his 1965 Buick Skylark coupe from Federal Way, Washington to Colorado Springs and back for the Buick National Meet that year. We had to stay in Twin Falls, Idaho an extra day to get the rear end rebuilt. We needed to re-shim the ring and pinion gear because the last rebuilder hadn't done the job properly.
Great running Impala 💪
Thanks for sharing the adventure, Colin. It took me a three sessions to watch all of it but it was worth it. Best regards to you and the family.
Way too many Chevys on this vid...lol. But then again this video wasnt about cars anyway. Reminds me of so many cool family road trips. Wonderful dad/son/grammy memories. Priceless.
The movie " Dual" came to mind when you were trying to pass that tanker !
“COME ON, CAR!!”
Love that car. Hard to beat a big old 4-door for a touring car.....
I give you all the credit man. Love your videos. This one was actually fun to watch because it has been forever since I was was able to take a road rip! Love it! Keep it up!
I started watching this and was so confused what channel I was watching, the main character sounded different. This video brings back so many memories, my Dad had an impala that was darker blue and rusty but it ran amazing, we called it the blue beagle. Having an LS is nice, unfortunately my Dad passed away last year, he would have enjoyed the video…We went to a baseball game once, before game he took a baseball and threw it at the 1/4 panel, all this rust fell out lol. It was such a nice car for a long road trip.
Welcome to another fond "Bad Ash" memory! At age 15, my older brother tried to give me a '66 Caprice Classic 2 door with a V8 auto. I passed on it, because I was already a Mopar guy. At the time I was training myself to do pinstriping and lettering. I painted the name of "Street Hog" on the trunk lid of the Caprice in the style of the band Fog Hat. It turned out great, but the car wound up in a junkyard. Next, I turned my attention to the old rounded style fridgerator in my parent's garage. I pinstriped the heck out of it! Turned out great too, but my unimpressed parent's sold it. Twenty some years later, my brother was helping a friend move, and in the garage stood the fridge with my pinstripes still intact! So cool! You and Colin are making some future fond memories now. Besides the videos, take plenty of pictures. Sadly, I didn't take enough pictures. Hopefully, my newly invented "Time Machine" app for cellphones works. Otherwise, my blown Hemi Super Bee might be able to take me back in time! I will buy up all the Hemi 'Cudas for $2000.each! Ha ha ha! (He said with an evil laugh)
Did 850 miles in my 72 Duster the weekend after this in SC. Down to Myrtle Beach and a bunch of cruising. A drive to Darlington Speedway, our charity laps got rained out. But the drive there and back to Myrtle was cool. Six classics and 100+ modern Mopars. Cammed 340 that runs low 12s got 14mpg with the 3.23s. Looking forward to a TKX or T-56.
my mom had the exact same car same color is that from michigan lol no way lol..joyce phillis ellis loved her chevy . she illegally took it around the horse track with me and my brother just haveing the time of our life. i can still picture my mom sideways at the fair grounds ..lmao thanks for the smile
Oh wow. That’s awesome. This one has definitely been in Washington for a long time…
people ask me if i lived in Gladwin Michigan all my life ? and i say not yet....lol everything is rusted to hell in the snow belt lol
@@DeadDodgeGarage
I had a 70 Impala and later a 73 Caprice. Both 350 ci with 4 barrels, 4 doors, and automatics. Not considered cool back in the day, but honestly they were great. Also your voice changed, Jamie. Wow!
🥸
Grew up in the backseat of my grandparents 67 same car just pale yella!
Later owned it when I was 19 loved that thing! Road trips, could sleep in the back seat too much fun
THat orig 327 never had the valve covers off it.
Had the best times of my life when my son was Henry's age. We were lucky he didn't get us kicked out of Utah on a similar trip. They're tolerant there :-) I miss my 72' Impala now.....
Mopar or snack bar. I love the brother videos!!!
😅 I can't rememberwhen I was able to consume so much junk food. Talk about a well behaved kid, I congratulate you.
Awesome trip man!
Sam and Dean would be proud!
Awesome trip!👍
Hard to beat the 6 liter LS and an overdrive manual. Fuel economy and good power. What an epic road trip! One of my most favorite things, road tripping in a classic car.
Agree on all points! Only thing that would make my 6.0 better is if it were aluminium for a lil weight savings. Road tripping my classic cars is my whole thing! There will be more trip videos to come.
Yep. I hate to admit it, but it’s a really good setup.
@@deaddodgebrother right on! Looking forward to more! An aluminum LS would be a nice upgrade but those iron block motors are stout.
Very enjoyable, thanks for sharing.
That Impala is absolutely 💯 beautiful 💖 love its patina
& That it has a ,
manual transmission
20 MPG in that beautiful behemoth
That's incredible !!! 🙏
85 octane ??
Do you have a vlog , on that engine & transmission swap , into that particular Impala ?
Great idea 💡 installing a kill switch , to prevent battery
off draw drain
I grew up , being driven around in similar vehicles ( like your Son )
So , it's normal to me , as well
We use to do that , too our old tool guy . We'd buy socks off him ,
Instead of tools 🔧..... LMAO
Thoughtly enjoyed the eclipse
And those shadows
Thank you for sharing this trip
With us
What an incredible scenery &
Array of Those red rocks
You probably picked the best
Vehicle for that trip
Coolant leak or is it going into
The combustion camber ??
Man , that engine sounds SWEET
When you downshift and
Passed that tandem tanker
I've not done a video about the swap, no, but I should! I contemplated shooting an intro after the trip to show off the car some but... didn't. Not sure most of the Dodge guys here want to see much of a Chevy. 😅The switch under the hood is actually to turn on the fan manually, the radiator leaks at the seams and the computer seems to get confused about the engine temperature when there's not enough coolant in it, lol. Thanks for watching! It was a fun trip.
@@deaddodgebrother
Please do a vlog on your car
And the power train transplant procedure 🙏
I think 🤔 most MOPAR guys
Can certainly respect
A solid Chevy Impala
Especially from the 60s
great trip mate .loved it
Another great Colin vid! Y😮
Sweet little ride man godda love Those Impala's and yours is a little bit special lol love it man
Love the Impala! We had a 67 as our family car in the 80’s, 327 power glide car, funny thing is that my dad used to brag that it would get 20 mpg on the highway.
I guess that’s what they get with that size engine old school or new.
Great video, Impala is strong ! Great trip, congrats.
I had a '67 BelAir station wagon at one time. Really liked the car just wish it had some horsepower(it had a 283 2 bbl with PG trans). Found out later the block was one of those blocks you could overbore 1/8" and put the 327 crank in it. Now that was a peppy motor especially since the car came with a 4.10 geared ten bolt rearend(somehow someone finagled a tow package on a 283 station wagon LOL) Used that car to go from Seattle to Denver then Wichita and a couple more years before it finally died. Was a really tough car and the body was still rust-free and straight when I left it at a junkyard. Wish I had it back.
Dang...been following you on IG and never realized you had a YT channel until I watched the Galaxy video. Aired up the tires on my Caprice today from two tires having gone flat from sitting for so long🤦♂️
Me (Jamie / DeadDodgeGarage,) or Colin (273_Duster) with the Impala? Haha. Colin has made a handful of videos for the channel so far but it’s largely my operation.
@DeadDodgeGarage ahh ok, Colin with the Impala. Digging your channel, watching your purple 69 Charger road trip from Chicago at the moment...nice!!!
Awesome road trip. True Americana. Thanks for taking us along.
Hah! I didnt think your voice was quite right 5:27 🙂 Thanks for the road trip. I was just in Boise from MD
Regards from Ody Slim
Love this! I got a 2 door 327 myself. Love driving it most of the time! Got a 4 speed as well, but I really wish mine had power steering :/
I did this trip back in September in my 70Super bee was on my way from Canada Tucson was an awesome trip Baker City was cool
Great road trip, amazing how those 327's could power a big car around!
@1:11:33. Awesome 👍 Family
Really nice car
Make a Supernatural clone !
That was the idea, but I think he decided he likes the blue for some reason.
I hate it when my ankle hairs get rubbed funny.
Thx Jamie
Without watching the video I can predict a definite maybe ^_^
Cool video great views
"Why did you move from Redmond (WA)..?" I'm not hunting in order to pay less than $5 a gallon for 87. Not to mention $1300 a month in property tax. I Paid $2.89 for unleaded two days ago, non-ethanol 93 is $3.84.
I certainly don't mess that & the "Misty" weather 9 months out of the year. 73 & sunny here in NC
Yeah, gas prices suck. Property tax has gone up here but still so much less than that. 73 and sunny sounds pretty good…
Cool Road Trip.
Colin's videography & commentary and Jamies music- good collaboration and made the longer format scoot right along!
Find that coolant loss- that radiator glop serms to always fail or plugs up the heater core.
Unless you dump in a bunch of them in like the previous owner of my '78 4x4 did to the 318.
Block between oil filter and engine mount is pushed out 1/8 inch, bellhousing freeze plugs are full of spray foam, #5 piston has a hole in it, makes only 20-25psi of oil pressure, oil looked like black metalflake paint, and had bald 38's.
Bought it about halfway between your town and mine and drove it home.
Pulled heater core afterward. The inlet & outlet pipes plugged with Stop-Leak and it weighed a ton- almost no flow.
I've seen some goop in cooling systems before but that's nuts! This car needs a new Radiator, I just need to sit down and order one. I'd rather replace that than have to do another heater core in this car, maybe I'll get around to it soon. @@dantupper1784
Oooo and it's an hard top. Meh want 😄😆
Great road trip, love the Impala. Don't sell it, because someone will paint it black and put on a set of cheapie chrome directional wheels.
Yooo bropar !!
And $2.90 for a pack of Marb Red!? Holy cow!
🥰🥰🥰
Gummy sharks and pringles chips oh yah my favorite 😊😅
Breakfast of champions
I see you film food and drink going in but not coming out , incomplete !
🤣🤣
There's a couple bathroom shots here and there 😅
WHERE ARE MY ROYALTIES?! THIS IT HE THIRD APPEARANCE OF ME IN A DDG VIDEO?!
I’ll see that the proper parties are notified
@@DeadDodgeGarage I know the proper parties, doubt it

I agree with Jason...😂
🥲🥲🥲
you mentioned LED headlights, i have a 1978 chrysler cordoba (400ci, not that you care) which brand and model would you recommend?
These ones are from Octane Lighting! I got them on their website, they're the ones that resemble Stock glass lights. Installed like a regular bulb for the most part.
Where did you get the LED headlights? Thay are Bad Ass...
They're from Octane Lighting! The ones that resemble Stock glass lights, they were about $200 for the set. Definite improvement over the bulbs I had before.
Thank you. I appreciate the intel@@deaddodgebrother
👊🏼
420 for regular!
Yep…
420 for any occasion
I'm getting a "super natural " vibe.....paint that chev black
That was definitely the original plan. Haha.
FOUR SPEED OR FIVE NICE RIDE
Six speed!
So many speeds
What tranny is that anyway? If it was mentioned in the video I may have missed it.
@@DeadDodgeGarageAny more videos on this car? Was it a three on the tree that you converted? I have a 396 TH400 ‘69 Caprice that I would like to put a third pedal in.
I noticed the extra antenna....
It goes to nothing 😅 it used to be attached to a radio in a different car.
Whats the soundtrack at 17:34 ?
Original music by me (Jamie) recorded for soundtrack purposes. All music heard on the channel was produced by me - mostly intentional soundtrack music, but there are some excerpts from my actual songs, and a live jam here or there.
That car has seen 224 solar eclipses
Hot dog is a cannibal 😊 yup
🐸 🤣
Funny thing we’re both going to pick up your mom. 😅
Lol
Calling Burger King "food" is a bit of a stretch, but I'll forgive you this time.
My thoughts 🤣
I count their breakfast as food!
@@deaddodgebrother okay that's actually pretty valid. The croissant things are nice
A normal swedish "pilsnerbil" 🙂
Huh! I hadn’t heard of that! That’s like my brother’s whole thing. Haha. Well, except for the passengers drinking
Or "vinterbil" 😂
Supernatural anyone?
Bingo!
such pretty chemtrails... said no one ever...
Ahhh, you mean contrails? They’re kind of interesting actually.
@@DeadDodgeGarage no I mean chemtrails my friend... contrails disapate within a minute... anything else is chemical... peace
Couldn't find a worthy Mopar?
I'm building up the Fury to get it ready for a big road trip! Couldn't get it together fast enough for this one, unfortunately.
Classic move,,,,, All the Dodge cars and Plymouth stuff. You have limp and hobbling about You say,,,, i need something i can trust.
Better take the GM. Plus i need to get my mother in law. She says I'm a big shooter
This is not a Dodge 👀
😮
There's a video I won't have to watch, of course the Impala will make it it's not a Dodge and your brothers driving.
😂😂😂
Boom! Got him
Who puts a viynal roof on a fastback Impala, did it come that ugly from the factory.
It's actually a factory painted roof car! So yes, this is the factory "ugly" color combination.
It looks like a Caprice coupe@@deaddodgebrother
The four door hardtop Impala and Caprice share a roof! I like it better than the fastback roof the 67-8s two door Impalas have @@allenschmitz9644
Another Bad video about a crappy Impala I thought this was dead Dodge garage not shity and Paula garage and who puts a 6-speed in an Impala and why he is 20 mi to the gallon my old man's 71 charger I should say my mom's charger did 18 1/2 of 80 mph will the 3-speed torque flight and a 383 Magnum engine
Did it hop coke cans in the parking lot too?! “Do stuff that isn’t Mopar!” “Don’t do stuff that isn’t Mopar!” “Love that Impala, it’s awesome!” “Awesome video!” “I thought this was dead Dodge garage not shity and Paula garage.” The lesson is, it’s impossible to please everyone - especially people like you. Good luck.
This video is more about the journey than the car itself. I live that three pedal life, the six speed made sense to me so I could run short gears and still have good highway RPMs. I think any old car that's brought back to life and not just rotting in a yard is worth enjoying. 🤷♂️
Road trips r so much more interesting in old cars.Great trip!
let's see you do better then champ... or will they not let you film TH-cam videos on that short bus you ride around in?
