    Fantastic experiments! They were well shown with lots of creative variations. I should mention, as you probably already know, that these types of HV modules actually produce much lower voltages than advertised. If the initial spark is about 1cm long, then the module is producing about 30kV at 14.7psi.
    It is possible to build a xenon thruster that produces some thrust in Earth's atmosphere, but the amount of thrust it produced and the cost of the propellant might make it not such a great idea.
    You might be interested in the ion thrusters on my channel that lift their power supplies against Earth's gravity, it took a long time to develop them with a high enough thrust to weight ratio. I hope to do some vacuum tests with some added propellant this coming week. Thanks again for showing your fascinating work!

      I agree. This module is not that efficient. It just helped me to see the ion flow in action. This module is not built for continuous operation.
      I need to learn a lot. I will surely watch your videos.
      Thanks for your comments and suggestions. Cheers!

    Magnet are placed in the same direction ? North/South and North/South ?

    • @MADWalker
      @MADWalker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Assuming that two magnets in the opposing direction can disrupt the ion flow.

    Why was necessary to use the permanent magnets?

    • @MADWalker
      @MADWalker  ปีที่แล้ว

      To streamline the flow. Without magnets, the arc was randomly hit in the conductor. Placing the magnets controlled that.

    The idea of using the magnets is interesting/original. The ionic wind is impressive.
    Q1: Have you experimented using the aluminium tubes with vs without the magnets?
    Q2: What is the purpose of the tape inside the magnets? At High Voltages, these magnets are conductors, just like the metal tubing. What is achieved (or hoped to achieve) by the addition of the tape?
    Comment, regarding frying the modules.
    When there is no discharge path, these modules build up a voltage that arcs internally and destroys them.
    Where possible, provide a safe discharge path (like a spark gap) across the output that will activate when the output wires have nothing else between them.
    Once you have the ionic wind generator (or other experiment) activated and working correctly, you can disconnect the spark gap, and your experiment will continue to function without self-destructing
    Good luck!

      Thanks for your comments. Thats a valuable suggestion. Will try that.
      For your questions
      Q1 - yes. Without magnets the flow is not as fast. The flow of air also escapes through the outer shell of the metal tube.
      Q2. Yes. Thats a ferrite magnet and it's a problem. If the metal tube is in contact with the magnet, now the magnet is also have electrical path and the magnet absorbs few arc and the flow of air was not consistent inside the tube. By having the tape, the flow of air is 100% inside the tube. The magnetic field around the tube streamlines the flow. However we can also achieve it by using magnets only. Thats a separate design. Not tried that yet.

      Thank you for your comment! Would mica play an attenuating role?

    • @MADWalker
      @MADWalker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mica does not have good electrical properties like free ion flow, which makes it an insulator

    Beautiful! The question I keep pushing is; could this tech inflate hot air balloons?

    • @MADWalker
      @MADWalker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice question. Yes it can inflate if the air current to the ionization point is sufficient. Remember, the air current changes in different altitude levels. The more we go up in altitude, the air pressure will reduce and will affect the air current from ionization.

    WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE MAGNETS?

    • @MADWalker
      @MADWalker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Magnets here to enhance the flow of electrons. Without the magnets, it will create loud and random arc on the aluminium sheet instead of stream lined flow.

    • @MADWalker

      400KV module can work with new AA batteries. However it will loose its efficiency soon. This module is designed to work with single lithium battery

    Those high voltage dc modules are potted and overheat very quickly you wont be abe to use them for more than a couple of minutes at a time before they fail

    It is impossible for that thing to produce 1000kv, most of these proucts sold in China are overrated. Usually 1kv makes 1cm of arc under atm that thing aint making 10m of arcs...

    • @MADWalker
      @MADWalker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't have any way to measure it. At least it was helpful for some of my experiments. I can feel the output is decreasing day by day.

      No. 10 kV gives 1 cm spark. that means 1000 kv is 1MV, that should give a 1 m spark. and no, this things wont kill you. it is the amperage that kils. and the amperage in this case is in micro amperes. minimal deadly amperage is 30 mA. that means by 10 kV you would need a power suplly of min. 300W.
