  • Private jets promise a level of service and convenience that the airlines can’t match. So naturally the discerning travelers who fly privately expect exceptional quality when it comes to the meals they enjoy en route. While the best aircraft operators make this task look easy, the reality is far from that. It takes special expertise and preparation to make sure that passengers’ palates enjoy a truly five-star experience at forty thousand feet.
AIN visits Rudy's Inflight Catering and Air Culinaire Worldwide at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey to see how it's done.

Back in my corporate jet days, I can’t even tell you how many times my passengers didn’t even look at the expensive catering that they had ordered. And it would end up being eaten by aircrews and ground handlers. Seriously, like 90%+ of it. Passengers would have very exacting demands for the catering. And then they wouldn’t even bother removing the plastic wrapping from it.

Hi, I'm entertaining the idea of working in the private jet aviation industry specifically in the area of concierge since my strong suit is customer service. My background is actually in sales for a food manufacturer that serves the airline and hospitality industry. Do you have any advice on how to break into the private aviation concierge industry?

Brisdad53 not all corporate jets have flight attendants. Three years on the CE-560XL/XLS and so yes, I’m pretty “SURE”...

cbebop5 I’d consider a couple things - getting hired on as a corporate jet flight attendant just to gain the experience and figure out what types of outside services are the most helpful to corporate jet crews and passengers and then maybe going to work for a caterer or for some other facet of concierge services, again, just for the experience, before you venture out on your own. At least, that’s how I’d do it if I was just starting out in that industry.

That's got to be the best frozen food ever, who knew it could be top notch. Can't say the same about frozen food at my local grocery store, the only frozen food that tastes good there is Marie Calender's Chicken Pot Pie.

I wonder how many of those in the background are legal. Why do I wonder? I was offered a position with LG Sky and I literally said NO to a boardroom full of suites and laughed at them when they told me what the salary was. This of course was after I took a tour and guess who was working like buzzy little bees with no talking all over the catering facility? What a joke....
