      This planes weighs significantly less than the same plane loaded with passengers, their luggage, all the food, the crew. Even with a car thrown in, most sports cars weigh in less than 3,000 pounds and most under 2500. The plane doesn't habe to be balanced because the whole plane is considered an active air unit. So even if everything was shoved in the back, it wouldn't matter. The thrust is generated from the middle and the lift is achieved at that point as well.

    Hi Enes, an aviation nerd/private pilot here,
    You're absolutely right about the materials having to pass an aviation flammable standard.
    This standard was implemented after the case of "Swissair 111" in 2000.
    An entertainment system that was installed by a third party after the purchase from the manufacturer short circuited & ignited the cabin insulation. The fire created smoke which choked the pilots and passengers then ultimately caused them to crash into the ocean with no survivors.

    • @luisitonocomunica6795
      @luisitonocomunica6795 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I do have a question, if there’s a fire, can they move to an area that the fire hasn’t reached and put their oxygen masks on and then decompress the cabin? Or at least reduce it, with oxygen levels down fire can’t burn anymore, also don’t they have an extinguisher?

    • @kreshnik1710
      @kreshnik1710 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@luisitonocomunica6795there is a smoke removal procedure wich involves more the circulation sysyem of the air, and puting the aircraft in a electrical emeregency configuration which is one of the most complex procedures.. . As per oxygen of the pasengers its a no . The oxygen of the pax is chemically generated and its not 100% so it will still mix with the cabin air or toxic fumes ... the best solution for PAX is to put a wet cloth in the mouth and nose and bend down cuz the smoke have the tendecy to raise toward the ceiling first. Also the pilots will land the airplane ASAP, unless you are over water like north atlamtic where it can.pose a real serios problem.

      @luisitonocomunica6795 Depends what catches fire. Some fires can still sustain in low oxygen environments. Lithium batteries, for example, create their own oxygen when burning which is what makes them so dangerous on aircraft.

    That looks amazing for a 37-year-old airframe. Looks like they upgraded the cockpit from 767-200 standard to a 767-400 or 747-400 version, with the two bigger displays on each side instead of the original round gauges. There aren't that many passenger 767-200s flying any more so it's great to see one of these get a new lease on life, and what a life!

    AMAZING! This used to be a QANTAS airliner when it was new 36 years ago. It was then sold by the airline and been in service as a private aircraft since with various charter/management companies. Most recently it was used by Polaris aircraft management. The hourly operating costs on these old airliners is insane (he quoted $12,000/hr), but the tradeoff is the passenger can fly in a huge, new condition interior for literally half or third the cost of a new Gulfstream! Hi Enes! This is a wonderful video, and it’s a real treat to see the craftsmanship at work here. Thank you for sharing it with us! Since you mentioned aviation-grade materials at 8:32, I thought I’d offer a bit of information:
    Aviation-grade materials are subject to stringent testing requirements for performance, durability, flammability and torsion. Additionally, tests will be conducted to check for toxicity under pressure and flame and - crucially - to keep overall weight as low as possible. Thus, hard structures (such as trolleys, built in seats and lavatory commodes) may be composite thermoplastic, or built in honeycomb shapes at the structural level to reduce weight while maintaining overall structural integrity (for instance: seat trusses being triangular). Thermoplastics are also common in aviation interiors with over 11,000lb of composite material being found in the average 777.
    All in all, your yacht analogy is perfectly apt, because air and water both behave similarly and a plane experiences turbulence the way a ship feels wake. The superstructure will account for that, and the interiors designed to minimize the sensation of movement!
    I hope that adds interest the next time you get to tour a private jet of this magnitude. The engineering that goes into these flying palaces is as spectacular as their interiors!

  • @wendyannh
    @wendyannh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +84

    Beautiful, and indeed very well thought out.
    Another design issue that is specific to airplanes is weight. You can certainly have stone and wood finishes, but rather than the thick slabs of each you might see in a home, what’s built for planes (and possibly yachts as well) is a thin veneer over a super lightweight aluminum honeycomb backing.
    You wouldn’t believe the cost of landing a private plane. I know that the more usually-sized private jets cost at least $25,000 just to land the thing, at least at major airports. Add that on to the hourly cost to operate plus salaries for all of those people, and it’s hard to imagine having enough money to be able to afford all that, never mind justify it, especially if the plane is used frequently.

    • @BLACKAAROW
      @BLACKAAROW 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      honestly this is why it makes more sense to charter planes than to outright buy them unless you're a billionaire or a high 9-figure net worth individual. also, even when you not using the plane and it's just sitting in a storage hangar somewhere it still costing you tons of money every month with hangar fees, constant maintenance, insurance etc.....way too much headache to deal with

    I think the effective cabin altitude is worth mentioning in videos like this. This jet you showed here is spectacular, but if I were an insanely wealthy billionaire, I'd probably buy a much smaller Gulfstream G700 or Bombardier Global 7500, as their effective cabin altitude will be significantly lower. Smaller aircraft can often use smaller airports too, which opens up your landing possibilities a lot more. Big is not always better.
    Thanks for the video though. I hope you do a lot more private jet reviews going forward.
