An Akrapovic S-H6R12-HAFT full system compared against the newer SC Project SC1-M road legal full exhaust system on the Honda CB650R. Which do you think sounds better?
The Akrapovic S-H6R12-AFT is a Euro 3 exhaust originally homologated for the Honda CB650F. The Akrapovic system had no cat and with the DB killer removed was much more like a race system.
The SC Project SC1-M is a Euro 4 homologated and road legal system. It has a DB killer and cat installed and I think it sounds pretty good considering it is fully road legal and Euro4 approved.

Sound could go either way for me. I love the under belly exhaust look of the Akra/stock exhausts, really cleans up the rear of the bike!

Akrapovic, on fly by i think have more grunt and the pipes with the setup 4-2-1 looks great

For me, the SC project at idle sounds better, but prefer the looks of the Akrapovic. At speed, both sound the DB’s
makes me appreciate just how good the trident 660 sounds.
As in, you prefer Triples? I think my fave bike sound is a vtwin.
At Idle I prefer the Akra without DB killer (more throaty) but on the move I couldn't notice much difference so SC project is the winner for me considering it's an end can so, cheaper, road legal and I'm guessing you wouldn't need remaping (could be wrong).Great video Dan!

Is it possible to make the sc project exhaust louder? Cause I got one for myself and thought what if I cut that cylinder end part just before the muffler. What it make it sound bad?

Nice comparison bro, sc project is better look than ackrapovic but I think the ackrapovic sound is too much better. I'm thinking about to install mivv in my cbr650r nice sound and +5,5 hp👍
hi the akrapovic S-H6R12-HAFT is compatible for my honda cb650r 2019?
I wasn't sure if I wanted to put a new exhaust on my CB650R and in the end I kept the stock one. I like the stock sound well enough and I don't like either of the Akra or SC systems looks tbh. Stock looks best, for sound I'd go to Akra. 😅
Great video. The SC project wins for me, mainly because of the cost. In terms of sound its so close. Would have preferred a under-slung exhaust though, and I'm being picky.
Yep, I actually prefer side mounted exhausts. For the money and the fact the SC is totally road legal it's a winner for me.

Guys also check out Termignoni exhaust (H16109410I-SO01). It is under belly and has no springs. Closest to the clean design of the stock imo while having sick growl. Something I will be going for most likely.

At 1.17-1.18 what’s that vibration sound when revving the Akrapovic? The SC sounds quieter but smoother, the Akro sounds a bit raspy..

Db killer, not yet. It's pretty hard to remove it and I've not managed to yet. You might be able to cut the weld and remove the cat but I think it's not worth risking the damage.

Hi, can I ask you of you have remapped your engine on the CB 650R after installing the new exhaust system? If not, do you have any problems, because many people say that can cause overheating?
There is always a risk when adding a system that makes an already lean bike even more lean. When I added the Akra race system I rode it on some hot days, kept an eye on the temps and it was never overheating. Even on my week tour of Germany it never got close to overheating so it seems to be fine. The SC Project has a cat so is less free flowing and the bike feels better with that on. As always, keep an eye on things and make sure your fluids are checked regularly. Short answer, seemed to be ok for me. :)

For price, a foot long drill bit to add 3 small holes through the stock baffles, and add remapping for the fuel injection.

I think you may have mislabelled the fly-bys.There is double with sc project - think one of them may be the Akra. Check it out. I may be wrong.

Has anyone seen the SC project one with dual tips? Does it sound different than this one? I decided the dual tip looks way better than these looks. I ended up deciding it was worth the 500 bucks more for me since I had to export it to Canada.

You can, but it takes a lot of work.
Honestly they sound very similar. A 4 cylinder with an exhaust is going to sound pretty much as you expect. It's pretty much up to looks, quality, or the baffle if you need one

Tried it but it's pretty securely welded. Will need a dremel to remove it.
Akrapovic has a deeper sound than the sc project I like the placement of akra clean looks more than sc but sc has an advantage in case the motorcycle falls to the right side it will protect some parts of the bike, did you compare the 2 who is louder using a decibel meter.

Anyone know if I have to put a cat in to keep it legal in the EU and keep my warranty? Dealer said anything thats legal in the EU (E number or ABE) wont void my warranty
For the Akra yes. Although officially it's not type approved for the CB650R.

I wanted to ask something, cause I'm new to the world of motorcycles and i don't know anything about exhausts .. so .. I want to know it's wrong decision to go for the sc project exhaust ( stainless steel) compare to akrapovic ( titanium ) and I'm talking about the quality ! What's ur opinion? ( the exhausts I look is sc carbon sc1-r and the carbon euro 4 akra ) anything u can say about these exhausts would be very helpful! Thnx a lot !!
As far as I know, only the muffler of the Akrapovic is titanium and the headers are stainless steel. The same goes for the SC Project, depending on which muffler you choose. I would say Akrapovic and SC Project are about the same in terms of quality. So it just depends what look you prefer.

You can get away without a remap but it does run a bit lean. SC Project definitely felt better.

@@Markymoo992 Sorry I meant you can get away without a remap. I never did the remap as trhe Power Commander wasn't available, or at least, that's whay Dynojet told me at the time.
@@Englishbikerdan Oh right lol that makes sense since at the time of the video these bikes were new to the market. They have them now lol, which did you end up choosing in the end?
@@Markymoo992 Yeah, I reached out to DynoJet at the time bu they told me none were available. I'm sure the PC for CB650F would have worked fine. In the end, I went with SC project because it ran better without any remap needed.

I too have this Full systemAkrapovic on my CBR 650F. In my opinion, there is no better exhaust than Akra. I have Arrow can on my Triumph Street Triple 675. One of my friends has full system Akra on his BMW s1000 rr
try racefit, one of my friend's friend has racefit on his 650F and the thump and sound it makes is priceless.

I think so but you'll need a dremel tool to cut the weld.

It depends on your budget the Akro if you can afford cause it looks better, sound-wise they are about the same.
Looks are subjective of course. I actually prefer the classic side mounted exhausts. Go with what tickles your gizzard! 👍

Hard one. SC is Louder.. but Akra may have the better base tones..
I like the look of the SC Project better but the Akrapović sounds and performs better.
The SC Project performs better with a stock bike, less of a flat spot that you get with the Akra. The Akra sounds good though.

I'm American but live in the Philippines. It really puzzles me as to exhaust pricing. I know both of these systems from Europe and the US cost easily $1k+ and yet people here in SEA are running clones that can run $300 for the full system including labor for install. I know they are clones but I've seen the work that goes into the canisters and they are doing it properly including baffles and fiberglass packing. I wonder though in the long term if these Asian versions in the real world are any different from the originals and would affect the life of the engine. I mean in the end it's all just metal following specific dimensions and shape right?
It's a tough thing to decide if I'll blow the cash on an imported exhaust system or get a locally made one that sounds exactly the same.
R&D and type approval costs a LOT of money. I mean, A LOT. Knock off companies don't need to do any of that. I know where I'd rather put my money.
