I left Newfoundland in 1969, been back a few times. I'm still a Newfoundlander by heart and blood. My friends are from Gander, Glovertown, Terra Nova Nation Park, St. John's, Fortune and my in-laws on the Burrin Peninsula. Tho I live in North York, Ontario, Newfoundland will always be home to me.
Pure Newfoundland, love it. I think every Newfie should be proud of this heritage. Where else is it like this? Even Quebec has say NFLD is a "distinct" culture.
Bob Porter is a great songwriter; too bad he is not more well known. I have included this song among my Favorites; as well as including it in my Candadian and Newfoundland Music playlists.
reminds me of some of my fondest childhood memories. sunday mornings, waking up to the smell of nan's toutins on the burner, pop's old radio tuned to vocm for the newfie music. or in the backseat of fadders car, on the road through gros morne on the way out to trout river for the capelin rolling, this song blaring
What album is it off of? Is it on the one that has she dives? I'm not from Newfoundland I was introduced to your music about a year or two ago and I love your song she dives
I am one proud newfie living in the USA. Would never forget the music I grew up listening. Best music in the world. I still listen to the music from home.
Worked on the trawlers n coables in me twentys from north sheilds , living on the edge ,loosing good men. A fine lament, best years of my fucked up life. She was called the snowflake, so delecate on the north sea over 100 years old. Ah! Memorys, heh! Heh! Mint!
@@Nx0-o1i Well you can go work in Ft Mac without a visa so you're technically Canadian. Nfld culture is different than BC or NWT or Quebaec, and yet we all share this stretch of pine and cedar we call snow mexico.
The fishing grounds were not considered unknown waters, the fishing grounds was a popular place to catch abundance of cod, they called the Grand banks. The Grand Banks of Newfoundland are a series of underwater plateaus south-east of the island of Newfoundland on the North American continental shelf. Bob, I love this song and was introduced to it by one of my kindergarten students last year. My choir wants to perform this at the festival but I can't find a score. I wrote the music to it this weekend. Can we please have your permission to perform the piece? Thanks.

You never forget the the feel of the Atlantic ocean there's energy in the air from the smell of the air on an inshore wind.

I was always proud of my Newfoundland home and always will. Those who laugh at us should take a good look at there selves first
they laugh at us because were differnt. we laugh at them because they are all the same.
why fit in when you were born to stand out.
I've never been to Newfoundland, But it sounds like my kind of place.
wouldn't all of you being "different" from us make you the same so we laugh at you for being the same vice versa
