    Great vid although I think you'll find that setting a pot where it will be out of the water at low tide is actually a fisheries offence in Qld

    • @rosyjoneslocker
      @rosyjoneslocker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn't know that one 🤔 will check out that reg, thanks 👍

      Qld fisheries say irs "best practice" so unwanted bycatch isn't killed when it's goes dry

    • @rosyjoneslocker
      @rosyjoneslocker  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrSeamusqld I checked out the reg's also and yes best practice. We were checking the pots at every low tide and releasing bycatch.

    Watched some of your other clips and tried to work out where you were camping,thought it may have been Girt but this one confirms it😂 never heard of anyone driving a car across but my grandfather who had a hut at keppel sands in the 40s(down pumpkin ck end of main beach) used to tell us about going over to Girt by horse and cart on a low tide.keep up the good work mate,enjoying what your putting out.

      Not sure if the beach access is still open, as I've heard on the grape vine that they are closing access to Long Beach. It can be a dangerous trip across to Girt. If you take the wrong track you will bog your vehicle and then you risk the tide going over it.

    Nice vid, some info on when you catch a fish in a crab pot so no-one gets in trouble -
    Catching Crayfish,Lobster in QLD
    We Have been contacted by a number of crabbers to manufacture pots to catch Crayfish & Lobster in Qld.
    We have been in contact with Fisheries Queensland for a ruling on this & have had the responce below.
    By defn Crab apparatus is for taking/trapping of crabs only ..so can't use to take lobster/fish.
    This may not be obvious on first look at Regs ...but is intended to stop fishers turning a crab pot into a fish trap.
    Lobster may ony be taken by hand or spear etc...unless u are lucky enough to jag one on a line.
    crab pot means fishing apparatus consisting of a cage with a round opening in the top, or an elongated opening (parallel to the base) in the side, for trapping crabs.
    There are bag/boat limits for Troical Rock Lobster in the far north - north of 14 degress (near PCB) 3 per person / 6 per boat
    South of PCB it is 5 per person / 10 per boat
    Painted Crayfish (Ornate lobster) Size limit is 11.5 cm tail & 9 cm carapace length & applies to all Qld waters.
    Crab'n Gear hopes this has answered the questions which has been put to us.

    Hey mate. Enjoying the vids. What size low tide do you need to comfortably get over there in your Ute? And is long beach still open to vehicles? Heard it was getting closed like all the other beaches are.

      Hi mate, you need a very low tide. But the tides are not the only concern when traveling across to Girt, you pass the remains of a couple of vehicles that paid the price of wanting to enjoy what Girt has to offer. I’m hesitant to give advice of when and how to get to Girt by vehicle. The sand/mud surface changes, I have been going to Girt for many years and have almost paid the price myself.

    gday mate can you get to girt on a high tide in a boat or is there no where for the boat to anchor up properly?

    • @rosyjoneslocker
      @rosyjoneslocker  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you can get out to Girt by boat. If you're in a tiny, you can let it sit on the mud. If in a bigger boat, there is a reasonable anchor spot on the western side.
