Rosy Jones Locker
Australia
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 21 เม.ย. 2022
This channel is about fishing, crabbing, camping and adventuring in and around where we live. Sometimes I'm solo, but most times I'm with family or friends.
Hi everyone, welcome to my TH-cam channel. My name is Craig Jones and I live at a coastal rural locality named Joskeleigh, on the Capricorn Coast, in Queensland, Australia.
In case anyone was wondering, the name Rosy Jones came about when taking my brother in-law reef fishing off our coast and one of the common fish we catch are Rosy Jobfish - (AKA Goldband Snapper). On one of these fishing trips, whenever my brother in-law referred to the Rosy Jobfish, he began calling the fish a "Rosy Jones Fish". So, I thought it would be a great name for my TH-cam channel.
Please enjoy our videos, as much as we enjoyed creating them. Cheers, from Rosy Jones Locker.

Mud Crabbing Neap Tides - Charon Point
Mud crabbing neap tides can sometimes be quite tough and this was the case when a few mates and I went on a camping trip to Charon Point. For the viewers that may not know what neap tides are, they happen during the moon's quarter phases each month. When the sun and moon are at right angles, and the gravitational forces cancel each other out, resulting in lower high tides and higher low tides called neap tides.
As opposed to spring tides which occur when the Earth, Moon, and Sun align during new or full moons. This alignment means the gravitational forces of the Moon and Sun combine to pull the Earth's oceans more strongly, causing higher high tides and lower low tides. The term “spring” refers to the tide's rise, not the season.
Our camping location, Charon Point Conservation Park, is about 150 km north of Rockhampton, in Queensland Australia. Having three camping areas: the Beach camping area, the Boat Ramp camping area and the Meadow camping area. We booked the Meadow camp area online and access is recommended for high clearance FWD vehicles only.
Among my mates that accompanied me on this camping trip and making his cameo appearance on Rosy Jones Locker, was a great bloke by the name of Graham, AKA Big G. Being a chef in his previous employment, Big G was assigned the cooking duties each night. Check out the video to see Big G cook Fire Pies in the coals and a delicious Chicken Casserole in the campoven.
Harrison, Big G’s son, also joined me on this trip. As well as the larrikin Christian, AKA Number One Deckie and my eldest grandson Jayden, who regular viewers of my channel will recognise. Within the video there is a couple of sequences of drone footage of the camping areas and the surroundings. Below are details of how to prepare the Fire Pies and the Chicken, Bacon and Chorizo Casserole and the ingreadients.
Recipes as follows:
Fire Pies
Ingredients: Frozen pie, Ham, Red Onion, Cheese, BBQ sauce
Method: Cut the lid off the pie (easier to do when pie is a little bit thawed) Add onion, ham, cheese and sauce to pie. Place lid back on top and wrap in alfoil (2 layers of foil will help stop it burning) Place on hot coals turning every few minutes until the pie is hot inside.
Chicken, bacon and chorizo casserole
Ingredients: 1kg chicken thigh cut into 3cm cubes, 400g bacon, 2 chorizos, 2 onions diced, 2 carrots sliced, 2 stalks of celery roughly chopped, 1 packet of cream of chicken soup mix, 1 can of creamed corn, 250ml chicken stock
Method: Fry onion, carrot and celery until onion has softened. Remove from pot and set aside. Fry chicken, bacon and chorizo until chicken is mostly cooked. Return vegetables to the pot and add creamed corn. Mix chicken soup mix into chicken stock and add to pot. Season with salt and pepper. Stir regularly until liquid comes to boil. Reduce heat and cook for about an hour to 90 minutes. Can be cooked in a camp oven on hot coals. Can be served with mashed potato and/or garlic bread.

Crabbing & Fishing with my Girlfriend

In this video I take my girlfriend Crabbing & Fishing. My girlfriend Elaine revealed that she hadn’t eaten mud crab for quite a while so we agreed that the next time, we had an opportunity, we would set the crab pots and see if there were any crabs about. We decided to make a competition out of the crabbing and had a wager on whose crab pots would catch the most crabs. The loser would buy the o...

It was a great trip Jonesy. Looking forward to the next adventure we get to tag along with.
Cheers mate. We'll definitely be getting out there again soon.
Awesome Ep and area and crabs guys. Wow A mate and I were going to check out Ogmore one day soon and I was looking to see what was in the area and I only just found that spot on the map , thanks for sharing.
Glad you found it, cheers mate.
@@rosyjoneslocker No worries great ep.
Love the boat collar.
They make a huge difference to smaller tinnies. 👍
Are u supposed to keep that?
@@ViN1988-m6w The video shows me returning the shark to the water.
baby hammerhead shark
@stevej7139 Yes, it was, mate 👍
love the scene. 23:27 this boat is cool hhh
@@tourfish-nn4ms thank you 😊
Her sister likes muddies and sandies!! 😁. Love to see how she masters an overhead reel. lol.
@diannemckeiver4919 Elaine will go alright with the overhead reel. She's got a good teacher 😁
Love your videos, do you have any secrets in combatting sand fly, I'm a sand fly magnet.....
@fba3203 I'm glad you enjoyed my videos. I've been using a Thermacell mosquito repeller unit when camping on my boat and on the beach. They work very well for sand flies also.
Lovely ep and spots guys,
@@craigtomkinson2837 I just love going to these places and showing them off to others who appreciate them also.
You are the best❤❤🎉🎉
@katiedrummond9533 Thank you 😊
Enjoyed
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching, cheers mate.
Great fishing trip, I’m jealous
@matthewgrech5545 is one of my best. Not just the fish we caught, but fishing with a couple of great mates.
Try brushing with vinegar for your crackling.
@todem891 Thanks for the tip.
Hey mate great video ! Is the beach accessible from Rundle Beach rd ?
@j-walk5702 I don't know the road as Rundle Beach Rd. You can access the beach from Joskeleigh Road, but it can be very boggy and crossing Strubers Creek is also risky if crossed in the wrong place.
Thanks for replying so quickly mate. Are there any other spots in the area that are safe to drive and camp ?
@j-walk5702 No, not that I know of.
@j-walk5702 There could be some areas around Yeppoon, maybe.
Sweet thanks mate
Man no offence at all but that's one of the smallest yabbies I've ever seen
Kepple Island snapper
@grantmoran5016 yeah, mate, that's another name that I've heard of for them.
Nice catch
@@senatorarmstrong1233 a good first crab to kick off the trip 😋
Great video and great location!
@fba3203 thanks for watching. And yes, it's a great location 👍
Good onya Mr. Jones enjoyed the family fun
@craigzielke3932 thanks mate 👍
What a lovely Ep and camp spot and crab and cook up, How cool are your grandkids.
@craigtomkinson2837 Hi Craig 👋 I believe we have to make the best of our time on this earth. Life's too bloody short. It's a great place to camp. And I enjoy crabbing, fishing, and camping with my grandchildren. Making memories that will be around on TH-cam for years to come, it's better than photo albums. Cheers mate 👍
@@rosyjoneslocker Lovely stuff.
Nice to see a brace of reds come over the gunnels.🤩🎣🐟🤙
You and me both. It was a great fishing trip 👌
nice catches!

Lovely Ep and crabs , and congrats on having over 1000 subs. I am sneaking up on 400 subs on my channel
@craigtomkinson2837 Thanks, mate. It's a great milestone for me. I truly appreciate the support from everyone who has watched and subscribed to my channel. Just keep having a crack, mate. Cheers 🍻
Man, love this video!
@fba3203 hey thanks mate. We had a lot of fun and caught plenty of Reds.
Hi Craig Long time no see mate. Caught up with your sis the other day and it prompted me to track you down on here. Great fishing mate!! All the best. Pat Gunston
@patrickgunston3094 Yes, it's been a long time. I hope you're keeping well. We had an awesome trip, and the Reds were hungry. I've been at the TH-cam channel for a couple of years now. It's a work in progress, but I'm enjoying it. Cheers mate
Not short of an esky
@bruceharrison7859 the one at the rear is used solely as a slurry, one on the middle has bait and ice. On at the front is clean ice for refreshments and food.
Great Ep thank you
@jasonsamra3434 thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
How good 🎉
@@travsfishnsafaris7315 a great trip with a couple of good mates.

Awsome ...trip out 👏😃
@LawrenceBurns-e5t it sure was. Great weather, great fishing, and great company 👍
Best place ever, wish I.could get back there
Nice fish m8
My old man always cooled his crabs after they came out of the pot to stop them cooking.
It's a good idea to get them cold as soon as their cooked 💯
Dad used to crab there in the early 80s for Esso. His job was to catch and tag crabs to see how the shale mining wa affecting the marine life. Needless to say we ate a fair bit of crab. There was a guy called Horry who used to live at the ramp to get into the Narrows. He would be long passed now but a wonderful old hermit. Dad would take me to camp on Curtis - beachcomber shack. Taught me how to hunt (duck , turkey, and pig) and drive. Fishing and crabbing. Didn’t realise how lucky I was a young boy. Have sent your channel onto Dad.
That's an awesome way to grow up, mate. So many kids miss out on all those experiences growing up. I spend as much time as I can with my grand kid's crabbing, fishing, and camping. They all love it. Thanks for watching and passing the channel on. Cheers, mate.
Love your videos, what's your best life jacket?
Horses for courses, I have good quality offshore life jackets on the Steel Kat and general purpose for the TrueKit.
Love ya vids mate. That’s exactly what I am planning to do when I get my bigger tiny. What size is yours. 🤙
Hey, thanks for watching. The Steel Kat is a 6.5 metre hull. Cheers mate
Party crabs m8 😅😅😅lol hahaha
I caught a good feed of buck crabs for all of us to guts ourselves 🤣 that's for sure 👌 💯
Great stuff mate. Informative and makes me want to get out there myself 👍 You’re not bad on the fang with all that bacon 😂 You should be wearing a pfd in the truekit old mate cheers
Hey, thanks for watching. I do carry a pfd in the esky that I'm sitting on. But, you are right. I should probably be wearing it. It's no good having the pfd in the esky if I fall out of the TrueKit.
How do you get that dingy on and off your boat and put the outboard on, also get yourself a thermacell, we use them up here in the territory and have no problems with mozzies or sand flys, highly recommend them , better then mozzie coils 👍, loved this episode 👍
I use a temporary pulley set-up at the moment to help get the inflatable on and off. Once the front of the inflatable sits on the rollers, I stand on the deck roof and simply pull it onto the rack. I put the outboard on and off while the inflatable is tied beside the bigger boat, only weighs 24kg. Probably extend the anchor light post and attach the pulley higher to enable a straighter line of pull. Work in progress. Thanks for watching and the comments. Cheers, mate.
living the dreams mate.
Life's too short not to, cheers mate 👍
Well done
Cheers mate 👍
About time for a new show. I've missed your adventures.
I had a little break. I'm back into it now. Cheers, mate 👍
Looks like Ed O'Neil
Thank you very much for your video. I am thinking to buy the same boat, and I want to do lots of crabbing, should I worry that the crab will puncture the floor or the tubes of the boat?
I now have a few videos on my TH-cam channel showing me using the TrueKit Discovery on crabbing missions. When the TrueKit is fully inflated, I think the crabs will find it difficult to pinch the floor or tubes with their nippers. It's best to empty the crab from the pot into a bucket so as to prevent the spines on the carapace causeing a puncher. The material is of very good quality. I am more concerned about a sharp stick or the like hidden under the water.
@@rosyjoneslocker Thank you for the quick response! I really enjoy watching your videos. It sounds like the TrueKit Discovery is the best option for me, especially since it can be packed up so small and light, eliminating the need for another boat trailer. I'm hoping to make some videos as well to share my experience with the boat. Thank you so much for your information and advice!
Gd stuff m8
