Thanks for doing the comparison. My E2P v1 does not have a horizon problem. I haven't noticed a magenta shift, either. Also, I always dial back the sharpness in the Style menu (-2 or -3). The larger sensor on the M3 might be more noticeable in low light. The higher bit rate of the M3 might help with very busy, fast moving scenes (provided you can produce the video at the higher bit rate). Have fun in Hawai'i with 808.
Another great video, Ken. Love this comparison. Nice to see 808 there too. Glad to hear all these goods things about the Mavic 3. I should have mine on Monday!
the exposures are very off in comparing the 2. In the first set of clips, your sky is completely blown out in the second clip. It would be interesting to see them when there is stronger light to see how the cameras hold up
comming from fpv world for 2 years , jus now getting into camera drones ....you are becoming my go to channel for these types of drones .....so thank you for the time and effort you have put into creating this channel.....now i just have one question and i need your honest professional opinion , mavic 3 or evo 2 8k
I think that straight out of the camera, it is a toss-up as some looked better on each drone. However, I, and I suspect others have a question, (my fly more combo is arriving on Thursday) What does the smart controller offer that the standard controller with a Tripltek 8 doesn't have? I will either order the Tripltek or the smart controller next and need info that I am not finding anywhere.
Exactly ,I will keep my evo2 pro, lol, if u how to adjust color before post there's no problem at all, and I always calibrate my gimbal , right before I take off. I don't have gimbal problems. I will save my extra 500.
Great comparison of these two drones, and I loved the location filming at the beach in Hawaii. And it was cool that you were able to do a collaboration video 808-State. Thanks for sharing.
Oh dude….just last week I was wondering how would the Evo II compare to the Mavic 3, while I was thinking about the Evo II with the 8k camera, this video provided the answers that I was looking for. Thanks fellas, as always well done.
Thanks for the comparison - still loving my EVO 2 Pro. This doesn't look like a meaningful update to the MP3 to me. I'm waiting for my EVO Nano + to ship - I cant wait to try that sucker out in the wild. Great job guy's.
I have been going back and forth for the last week between the Mavic 3 and the Evo II Pro. I'm relatively new to drones and I already own a DJI FPV. I selected it mostly for fun factor and it had features as a flying machine that I could grow into. I knew at some point I was going to want a good aerial photography drone but I was unable to make up mind what to buy until now. I reached the conclusion that the choice is mostly preference. I was leaning strongly to the Evo II Pro for the longest time because every video I have seen from that camera seems more detailed and pops more than the Mavic 3. Geofencing with DJI was initially a concern but given where I will be doing the overwhelming majority of my flying I seriously doubt it will ever be a problem. So for me I considered it a non-issue. Regarding video quality the choice was really a coin toss and I am convinced that I would be happy with what comes out of the camera on either drone. So I ordered a Mavic 3 this morning. It mostly came down to me being familiar with the DJI ecosystem and the firmware release earlier in the year addressed most of the concerns I had with the Mavic 3. Now I just need to order a case, a second battery, and a set of ND filters. I can get all of that and come in about $300 or so less than the Fly More Combo.
What it does tell us is that the difference between these drone cameras is marginal. There is no compelling argument to buy one over the other. Different Luts & post editing will provide different results with colour/contrast on either drone. Hence why it does become so subjective. I have seen flight time tests & the time difference between these 2 drones also appears marginal. Tilted horizon - I just saw a TH-cam video yesterday with Mavic 3 having a tilted horizon, so I would question your comment stating the Mavic 3 never has a tilted horizon. Don't know what you guys are doing differently, but I very rarely have any tilted horizon issue with the Autel Evo 2 Pro. But it is surprising that the Evo 2 Pro is a rock solid competitor to the Mavic 3 given it is 2 year older technology. I would say if you don't want geofencing & want to save $500 dollars, you have your answer Autel Evo 2 Pro. If you want the latest generation drone, and budget is no issue, your also have your answer, Mavic 3.
You are correct it's a waste. 500 more dollars plus 250 for dji refresh, add a couple more hundred and get a evo lite plus , with the 1 inch , sensor that let's in more light, and may be better than the evo2 pro in lowlight and night. at 1250 dollars, is a no brainier
Were the same luts used or the same colour grading settings used on both drones footages please? Neither stood out for me as amazing but im viewing on my note 10 and definitely no pro. But definitely a consumer.......
Having been screwed by DJI geofencing several times, I'd personally go with the Evo 2. However clients who are set in their DJI ways will have me buying a Mavic 3 at some point most likely. Can attest to the horizon tilt on the E2. My eyes aren't as keen as yours, but with the zoomed comparisons, the evo 2 looked better and doing mostly inspection work, zoom is a major factor.
You have to compare the Air2s mate. I'm on the fence with the cost of an Air2s combo or the Mavic 3 combo. Living in the toilet down under we don't get the Mavic Cini combo till mid-December. I want the Cini but can't wait as we still can't get the Mavic 3 anything till next week.
I have 3 new drones cji fpv, mavic 3 and mini 2 for places where it is prohibited to use in some places. ( I live in Canada snd much of my area is within areas that are within areas that are restricted. Are these good enough for real estate photography?
@@drone_labs_ that's my point. So then in that instance, half the points brought up by doBo are moot from an Autel perspective and the playing field is even more leveled. The only issue standing is the horizon one and I think that was introduced as a bug in recent firmware if I remember correctly.
Horizon Level Problem of the Evo 2 Pro is a NOGO I think. I‘m really excited to see some reviews of the upcoming Nano Series. Mavic 3 D-Log color graded looks better. Cool Video!👍🏻
@ the beginning of the video, I couldn’t tell which drone was which dude. You didn’t put any captions saying shot with the Dji Mavic 3 nor the Autel Evo 2 Pro. Anyways great video and comparison partner. Keep em coming. Have a great day. Thanks 🙏 for all you do and please keep flying.
Blind test it's was tie for most. A couple I picked evo ii. One I picked mavic 3. Evo ii on that one just looked dull like fog. Needed contrast or something. I'd def take evo ii. It's cheaper. Or Lite+ if it is every released lol. It also comes with the controller that gives u all the features not drone comes with this but oh u have to but $1,200 controller to get that feature. Also autel finally assembly in usa that's nice (though I don't think not one part is from us lmao)
Not everyone has an issue with the horizon on the E2P. Sure wish you had more sun during the time you flew and hope you did some night flying around some city or town lights while you were together on this project. We will soon be coming up on 2 years for the Evo 2. I hope the Evo 3 has a MFT cam and will fit on the E2 airframe. That would be really cool. Aloha.
Only if you update. The EVO 2 can be operated without a cell phone also, this has saved me more than once. I own both Dji, Autel and many home built fpv quads. I know it's time to promote a new product but the Autel Evo2 is still solid. Good comparison on the cameras but I think the geofence issue is still a big deal to some people.
Nice!!! Very cool review and breakdown... the colors look pretty damb good on the Mavic. I would have to agree on that... but I may just fly my Evo until the props stop turning... thanks man Love it!!! Waz up 808!!!
The horizon shift is a deal breaker for me. While I want to be able to put my content in post, I don't want to HAVE to. I'm happy the majority of the time with the stock footage from my Air2s and probably won't be upgrading for a while.
Could you plz do a comparison of the A2S an m3 Jake Sloan did one an I was sorta surprised on his take!! Just curious to see what your thoughts are on this matter !! Thanks guys really enjoyed the double team comparison clip
Great review/comparison between the 2 , considering how old the EVO 2 Pro is ( it"s well overdue an update ) . Might just have to get rid of my Mavic 2 zoom and get the 3 . BTW 808 lives just a few minutes away from me. I hope you enjoyed your stay and the island.Aloha
It would have been nice if you had mentioned flight times in your comparison, and perhaps compared low light performance. Plus I'm a photographer not a videographer so a comparison of picture quality would have been of interest to me.
Ohh boy, the Evo II Pro is so much sharper. Btw I hate it when I have to try and tweak the picture in post. LUT is enough hassle already. I don´t want to fiddle around with sharpness to compensate for something wich hasn´t been there to begin with. The graded Evo Picture maybe have a little bit too much magenta in it. Other than that, the superior picture. A pity, the EVO is the lesser aircraft. But like DJI said, "Image is everything", right.
It’s not a superior picture sharpness that’s digital isn’t superior please educate yourself on what a proper image render actually is. This is why people will never have a chance working with professionals because you can’t comprehend sharpness correctly
hahaha - I wrote my pice after watching the footage and befor your testimony. Funny to hear that you also find the EVO LUT to have too much magenta in it. But hat I would say, this is easily corrected. When it comes to sharpness. I can alwasy blurr a over sharpened picture. But it is not possible to sharpen a picture when the detail is simply not there.
@@OriginaldoBo And I thought you professionals are supposed to make it pleasing for me, the customers. Or is "being a professional" a class of it´s own. You asked for comments, so don´t be shocked when I disagree with your assessment. And if this were true, that professional cameras are not supposed to be sharp, then all the evaluation of the professional lenses would make no sense any more. Because a good quality glass is "too" good now. A cheaper glass is now preferable. That is nonsense of course. There are articstic pictures where you want to create a haze, or a blurr, but don´t get this confused with the actual quality of the camera. It is art. What is funny though is the fact, that up until this point the crisper image of the DJI series was always strived for. And now, with the mushy picture of the M3 this is suddenly not the case any more. In video there can also be too much sharpness, like in the soap Opera effect. But that has something to do how our brain processes movements and the impression of speed. In this case it is caused by interpolation. But it can also be created by too fast a shutter-speed, hence the 180 rule. But this has also nothing to do with an inferior optical system. So - all in all I find your comment pretty much off the mark. But that is ok. I can always get a sharp picture hazy but you can´t get a mushy picture sharp, even if you suggest to do so by ramping up the sharpening 3 steps. Because it is difficult to create content that wasn´t there to begin with.
@@OriginaldoBo You are right, I should have been more specific. What I meant and should have said is "detail". The EVO has much more detail in the picture. There is information in the picture, the DJI simply has not. And then there is sharpness, which is basically nothing more than contrast. And you are right sharpness is best not used to describe quality. Often times it is over-sharpened to please the eye of the consumer. And I´ll give you that, the EVO might also be over-sharpened. But it can easily be rectified in camera or in post. What can not be rectified is missing information from DJI picture in comparison to the EVO II .
I love E2P especially for stability in air, way better then most drones including M3, it is sharper as well but not as good image IMO. M3 has cleaner image in terms of latitude and colour and deeper blacks.

"Cookie" frogs, are actually native to the island of Puerto Rico and their name , is pronounced as, "koh-key". As a native from Puerto Rico, felt it was appropriate to mention this and in no way, meant to demean your video, or your spelling of the sound/name of the little frog. It's scientific name is, Eleutherodactylus Coqui. They are truly endemic to Puerto Rico, although, as we've seen with other species, given the right living conditions, they can adapt and prosper in other places, such as the case with Hawaii. The "Coqui" frog, it is speculated, was introduced to the Hawaiian Islands by visitors from Puerto Rico. Hawaii, has a population of emmigrants from Puerto Rico, from way back. It was only a matter of time before native Puertorricans transplanted their native frog into the eco system of Hawaii, and I bet, much to the chagring of native Hawaiians, as the singing from the frog, is quite disruptive if you are not used to it. Love to visit Hawaii sometime, looks beautiful. I promise, I won't bring any more "coquis"...:)
In this particular circumstance I'm not really impressed with either. Not sure what is up but both look extremely muddy and not desirable. I think it's because of the cloudy weather. I have the same issue with my Evo 1, where no matter what I do it will almost always look muddy and just... off on a cloudy day. I've found that it seems that Autel really didn't think much when working on the profiles of their drones, especially their luts too. They just don't look good, so I'm not impressed with the Evo 2 Pro or the Mavic 3 as I don't see them getting a better image than my original Evo 1 in these kinds of circumstances, which is disappointing. Don't forget you can turn down the sharpening in EVO 2 camera to your taste, so that shouldn't be an issue.
Lol that’s turned all the fucking way down
@@OriginaldoBo Then u need to turn down the sharpness on your software, seems like your the only with that fucking problem.
lol
If you have a chance while you are on the Big Island hit the Punalu'u bake shop. Southernmost bakery in the USA and the pastries are off the charts good. Do the South Point Cliff jump. You won't regret it. The big island is my favorite. Hope you are having a blast man.
Are you able to compare the DJI Air 3 to the latest Autel Evo 2 pro with the smart controller SE?
Thanks for doing the comparison. My E2P v1 does not have a horizon problem. I haven't noticed a magenta shift, either. Also, I always dial back the sharpness in the Style menu (-2 or -3). The larger sensor on the M3 might be more noticeable in low light. The higher bit rate of the M3 might help with very busy, fast moving scenes (provided you can produce the video at the higher bit rate). Have fun in Hawai'i with 808.
EVO2 Pro has build-in software over sharpenining issue it's not easy to correct on post, harsh edge but no increase in resolution lol
Its a pre mature test, when did the vo 2 come out? at least a couple of years ago
I love evo2 pro in the world from Thailand
When evaluating a drone cam I like to see some shots 15-20 meters from foliage. Perhaps in the future clips you mention please?
Hello!
You talk about dji having a lut for d-log. Where can I find this 🙂🙂
Another great video, Ken. Love this comparison. Nice to see 808 there too. Glad to hear all these goods things about the Mavic 3. I should have mine on Monday!
the exposures are very off in comparing the 2. In the first set of clips, your sky is completely blown out in the second clip. It would be interesting to see them when there is stronger light to see how the cameras hold up
Plenty of footage for people to find and see what the cameras can do. I suggest you research it
comming from fpv world for 2 years , jus now getting into camera drones ....you are becoming my go to channel for these types of drones .....so thank you for the time and effort you have put into creating this channel.....now i just have one question and i need your honest professional opinion , mavic 3 or evo 2 8k
Hard to pinpoint a clear winner there. There were shots where the Mavic 3 was better and some where the Evo 2 Pro looked better.
Exactly ,I will keep my evo2 pro, lol, if u how to adjust color before post there's no problem at all, and I always calibrate my gimbal , right before I take off. I don't have gimbal problems. I will save my extra 500.
I love my evo 2 pro. Best drone I've owned. Their both good drones
Great comparison of these two drones, and I loved the location filming at the beach in Hawaii. And it was cool that you were able to do a collaboration video 808-State. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for developing the Mavic 3 controller adapter for the Tripltek monitor. I also just bought the lanyard clip.
Thanks guys. Great video. I needed this.
Oh dude….just last week I was wondering how would the Evo II compare to the Mavic 3, while I was thinking about the Evo II with the 8k camera, this video provided the answers that I was looking for.
Thanks fellas, as always well done.
Ahh yeah!! Thanks bro!! I was hoping you’d make this video!
As a stills photographer I wonder whether the sharpness and magenta issue apply to DNG files too. I don't do much video.
Sadly yes the color shift is present however slightly easier to correct.
So weird how the color is much different between the two when you look at the Ocean water, looking straight down. Is it more green or blue?
It’s more of a blue, some reason the DJI hasslblad leans more green but… the log footage is more accurate.
Thanks for the comparison - still loving my EVO 2 Pro. This doesn't look like a meaningful update to the MP3 to me. I'm waiting for my EVO Nano + to ship - I cant wait to try that sucker out in the wild. Great job guy's.
Exactly, my thoughts lol
Agree👍👍
Great Video guys! I’m excited for my Hawaii trip next month.
@@keytiger7 the Lite+ will have a 64000 ISO setting, which will be amazing for night imagery if the noise is limited, or you have denoise software
@@ozstrayapanoramas8610 Yes that very, no I don't use it ,dont need it on a,drone like the evo2 pro, but I see alot using on the m3
The autel 2 pro is got the clearest images I've seen on a drone to date love mine
Were the same luts used or the same colour grading settings used on both drones footages please?
Neither stood out for me as amazing but im viewing on my note 10 and definitely no pro. But definitely a consumer.......
Great video. Love the coqui sound in the back ground.
Can't you just drop the sharpness on the Autel in the same way you added sharpness to the DJI?
Yes you can in picture settings, but you have to remember all the time because Autel Explorer app doesn't store this setting.
@@drone_labs_ but you are doing post processing on the video.... so same thing. Add in the workflow color correction and then sharpness adjustment.
@@AlexandruBauer of course you can. I am using EVO II pro and I prefer to take down sharpness to -1 in the drone not in post.
@@drone_labs_ that's my point. So then in that instance, half the points brought up by doBo are moot from an Autel perspective and the playing field is even more leveled. The only issue standing is the horizon one and I think that was introduced as a bug in recent firmware if I remember correctly.
The sharpness is all the way down on the EVO fellas that was the first thing we did. Try again
Thanks for the video .it helped me to choose to buy one . I'm going to buy Autel Evo 2 Pro.
Well done. Do you have the issues of sudden changes of flight direction on the Eve that Billy encountered?
Does anyone have recommendations where to buy some good LUTS ? Thanks for the video Ken
would be curious to see how the mavic 3 compares at night
Horizon Level Problem of the Evo 2 Pro is a NOGO I think. I‘m really excited to see some reviews of the upcoming Nano Series. Mavic 3 D-Log color graded looks better. Cool Video!👍🏻
@ the beginning of the video, I couldn’t tell which drone was which dude. You didn’t put any captions saying shot with the Dji Mavic 3 nor the Autel Evo 2 Pro. Anyways great video and comparison partner. Keep em coming. Have a great day. Thanks 🙏 for all you do and please keep flying.
That’s called blind comparison
@@OriginaldoBo I guess that makes sense. Thanks 🙏 again buddy.
Aloha.
I wouldn't use the geo fence as a reason to justify a autel over a dji. Autel is supposed to be geo fencing there drones sometime in the near future.
Unless your country mandates geofencing for drones, the Autel products will never have it, period.
Nice!!! Very cool review and breakdown... the colors look pretty damb good on the Mavic. I would have to agree on that... but I may just fly my Evo until the props stop turning... thanks man Love it!!! Waz up 808!!!
Great comparison! Thx for sharing! Greetings from Bucharest Romania!!
That was a interesting comparison video. I enjoyed the back and forth between you and 808. Thanks! 😎👍
Close fight here. For sure a personal preference. NFZ on Evo is nice.
If ProRes belongs to Apple is there a license fee needed to be payed every year ???
The horizon shift is a deal breaker for me. While I want to be able to put my content in post, I don't want to HAVE to. I'm happy the majority of the time with the stock footage from my Air2s and probably won't be upgrading for a while.
I don't what these guys are dong differently, because I very rarely have a horizon tilt on my Evo 2 Pro
Awesome bro. Great comparison with 808 state! 🤘🏻 keep up the outstanding work brother
Personal preference on the color is to the M3 for me. The EVO looks over saturated/shifted.
U ever heard of adjusting your white ,on any camera, it's not like color cant be changed. If that why u buy a camera u in trouble.
Could you plz do a comparison of the A2S an m3 Jake Sloan did one an I was sorta surprised on his take!! Just curious to see what your thoughts are on this matter !! Thanks guys really enjoyed the double team comparison clip
Aloha to you both, Great job. Ken, hope you are enjoying your time with 808 on the Island. God bless you guys. JMo Spg Hill
There's an evo iii on the way. But specs sounds like it's going to be a lot of money too 😪
Very nice video I would be interested to see a comparison between the Air2s and theMavic 3
They are Coqui Frogs, originals from Puerto Rico.
It would have been nice if you had mentioned flight times in your comparison, and perhaps compared low light performance. Plus I'm a photographer not a videographer so a comparison of picture quality would have been of interest to me.
We’re comparing video only as stated don’t care about that in this video
I hope Autel comes out with the Evo 3 PRO soon. I've been wanting to get a EP2 but now I'm going to have to wait a bit.
They can’t even get the things they announced launched
I love E2P especially for stability in air, way better then most drones including M3, it is sharper as well but not as good image IMO. M3 has cleaner image in terms of latitude and colour and deeper blacks.
Pretty minimal differences for the most part. With any gear there are weaknesses that you need to learn to work with depending on your needs.
Great video but the one thing that caught my attention was The coqui frog in the background They are native to Puerto Rico aren't you guys in Florida?
this Hawaii
Yes I heard some years back that Hawaii was been over run with the coqui forg that's very strange I'm form P.R. and it was always thought that they only lived in P.R.
quick question, can you fly the autel drones without a phone since the original controller has a screen? if so how far?
Yes
2 year old drone whips fresh drone. Crazy. Still not close to the obstacle avoiding on autel. Autel is 2 years older and still keeps up, crazy.
Obviously nothing they said changed your mind as it was made up before you saw their evaluation, because their result isn’t any where close to your opinion..pfft.
Dji announced rumours with Mavic 3 also two years ago :) the product is old on the start a little.
@@zoeydee7168 he is entitled to his opinion which incidentally I agree with.
Putting post editing variabilities aside, the difference in imagery between these two drones is marginal at best.
@@ozstrayapanoramas8610 and that would be consistent with the reviewers summary that either is a valid choice and one of personal preference.
How is the noise?
I’m which regard image noise? The Mavic 3 has slim to none
@@OriginaldoBo Nice:)
I have the mavic 3 cine. Is the cine worth it.
I just don’t think it is from a standard use purpose
Are you in Puerto Rico? I can hear the coqui 🐸
Is that coqui's in background?
Yep
The clouds look definitely better on the Mavic.
The EVO is not bad, but the contrast range is better on the Mavic.
The colour/contrast comparison is irrelevant, as the different Luts or post editing provided different results for each drone.
Both in that test were graded manually
For me the low light difference alone is worth upgrading. Not even a question for me.
Do you shoot in H264 or H265?
H.265
Eu estava mesmo esperando está tua comparação. Sempre sensacional. Parabéns amigo. Rogério
One is slightly better than the other. Love the colors and dynamic range on the Mavic 3.
Personal preference, it’s the Mavic 3 for me. Prefer the natural colors.
got to wait for the EVO 3 before I decide what to buy. Im in no rush, my mavic 2 is still good.
Thanks for the video nevertheless!
Yup Rocco. Same with our Evo1's. Sometimes the horizon looks fine, and other times a little off. For what I do. The Evo1 for now is good enough.
WE NEED A LOW LIGHT
Well, for me the best one is ... My humble Mini SE which is here in my closet lol.
Both of them look like a a dream to pilot.
you got it down its all about personal Preference. i only wished M3 captured in CinamaDNG or ProRes Raw then i would have picked one of in a heartbeat. But guessing Processor wasnt up for the challenge. or DJI didnt want to Butcher Inspire 2 sales
