- Hi there! Join me as a make a new surreal collage starting with a book with vintage dolls that I got at the thrift store! Thrift stores are my favorite places to get collage materials. The hunt for new source books is one of my favorite parts of the process!

Creating a handmade custom DIY surreal art collage is easy! I share my tips and techniques on how I create my analog collages as I cut out pictures and illustrations out by hand with a small pair of scissors and a craft knife. Finding inspiration from old books is one of the most fun steps to this process. These can come from used books, encyclopedias, magazines, vintage postcards, or anything else you can find lying around your house. I find most of my books and magazines from thrift stores, antique stores, flea markets, Craigslist, or even on the side of the road! Watch as I arrange my elements and try different ideas as I talk through my process to create my final design.
Collages made out of paper have a custom made feel that you can't get from a digital collage made in Photoshop. And, there is an added challenge of only being able to use materials that you have access to!

I was watching this video with no sound as Im watching at work. (Dont tell anyone, LOL). Anyway I laughed out loud when you cut that guys arm off as I knew what was coming next! That was hilarious!! Im sure my coworkers are wondering what Im laughing at!!!
I can't believe how perfect that quote is! He talks about the beauty and solitude, and the fragility, and then that last sentence, "I fear what lies ahead." OMG...is the hand offering them a deal they can't refuse? I loved this collage before I read the quote. I love it even more after reading it.

While you were picking out which background I was hoping you would choose the coral, it was just right with the house, the coloring and even the size. I am excited to try collage art out. @@eastofhoney how about doing something similar with a different dollhouse or real house cutout? Maybe even in a different architectural style, such as something modern, to give it a different feel?

You have a very good eye. I love your stuff. I used to do this way back in the early 90s. I wish i would have saved all my material......just TONs of old magazines.....the kind of stuff you work with. IM thinking of getting back into this. I remember loving doing this so much. Also...i hit my local dollar store today ......and im stealing and doing the old lady holding the taco. My local store had all the stuff. IM eating stale dollar store taco shells as i type this! What scissor do you recommend? I need to pick up a good pair for this....

There is somebody else. I don't know if it matters. If you want to know why, it's because my life is on an upswing. I connect my past to her, even though the emotions that tie me to her should tie that past to you. I had to do it for my job.

This is a great question! I cut out the part of the video where I talked about it haha. I'm a little torn. I kind of like the quote that was on there-- "Reefs for me are places for solitude and thought", but I also wanted to just put a fish over it. For now, the blurb lives on!

I have a plan. I have been working on said plan for 2.5 years. I have been incommunicado since State of the Union because I'm doing a major financial overhaul to my job responsibilities such that I actually get paid and actually have a job. I don't need to apply for another job. It's economic. It's about welfare. I'm working. I'll fill you in on it if you care. If you don't care, I'll just keep on working without listening to my thoughts. I am so glad you know how hard my life is because I have a great escape plan, and you're #1 in it, which is why I haven't/didn't tell you - because I want to be super sure I can escape. I found a way to work!!! on a job? in an office with a computer! (not to mention I look good in addition to paying my bills.)

What am I going to do about my housemate; she's as caught up in my fish stories as the rest of you% I shouldn't tell her, 'no.' You can't tell me, 'no.' It's my social position. I'm just now, as of 15 days, being picked up by disaster relief gov programs. I go through her to avoid getting spied on as I go through you to get all the aid. Then I go through aid to avoid being with her. I get really blocked up because I need as much help as I can get, and I can't distinguish between economic help and reproductive supports. I am in love with both of you. I am a terrible person. I can't say, 'no.' You've got to save us.
