When I played in music store, Aria bass sounded unplugged better than most other acoustic basses, actually Aria sounded somehow, most other basses had nearly no live sound. Very nice sounded also Furch acoustic bass. (I don know if they are exporting to US). I need only home practice instrument, Furch are usually quite good quality, but bit more expensive, so I took Aria. I use it home and sometimes for small gigs and it plays nice. I'm using flat wounds strings, original bronze roundwounds has better hi treble but they are making marks on fretboard. Bass has very constant and strong live sound comparing to amplified sound, so I sometimes during practice don't recognize that I'm unplugged. I can recommend this bass to try in your store. Thank you for video.

Great demo.I wonder how the long scale one sounds and feels compared to the medium scale?.The wallet busting Takamine TB10 is THE one,but is really a "honey I shrunk the bass" in terms of size....even comes with a spike!Has Takamine's cool tube preamp as well.....Regards from UK.

You mentioned not liking the the sound when plugged in, the strings make a big difference, Bronze round wound would sound quite bright compared to flats or tapes, wound be interesting to hear it plugged in with better strings as I do not believe you would get the best plugged in sound with the strings it comes with

I bet a set of LaBella flats would tame some of that high end fizzle

I already posted it on the Aria channel, byt this is such beautiful instrument and I actually like a lot how it sounds. And your playing is great, too! I also find the best way to just cut the treble and presence on my acoustic bass to get really more like a bassy tone and I think it might be the issue with all acoustic basses? But I was really suprised that this one sounded good also with presence all th way up. As you say, changing the strings to tapewounds or flatwounds will make a difference. But for me, personally, even changing the strings to regular steel electric roundwounds made a huge difference in sound. I just don't like the sound of brozne strings on an acoustic bass that much. The instrument then sounds like an acoustic guitar tuned an octave down and with all the annoying treble it just doesn't sound good to me. Anyway, great video, thanks for that!

I need another bass like hole in the head. Was shopping for a good acoustic, fretless for church worship. This one looks like the most bang for the buck. Looked at a Tony Franklin fretless for $2300. Others for $3000+. Gonna get this one.

Does yours distort bad on the E/A strings when you boost the lows or mids? Mine starts to sound pretty rough if I do...

You are right RumblinMan. I saw one in stain black on the Gear4music website. I already have a great acoustic bass, a Sigma BME+ bass which I string with tapewound strings. It’s not a loud bass just like most or all acoustic basses but I love the sound and playability of it!!!

Get rid of the round wound strings and get some taped flat wounds on that base
