Great video! Began to watch then couldn’t stop watching. I love the use of domestic iron to heat the glue under the fretboard. No need for steamhole under 12th fret. Patience is everything. Thanks Tanya and good luck for you and the future of your country.

Steamhole at 12th fret is to remove an acoustic guitar neck for a reset. It is intended to free up a dovetail joint.

You are a True Luthier. Watching your work puts me in a trance and I feel at peace. You don't cut any corners like using power drills on taking things apart. Even putting on strings no power drill. I love watching your videos and I am a huge fan of what you do. I wish I had your skills and youth. When I do a simple fret leveling and polishing the frets my hands get calist and cut and bleed. All by hand for 6 or 7 hours I am hurting and exhausted. Arm and hands are fatigued and sore. I'm 57 years old and have Arthritis. Watching you work I am jealous. You are very special and talented. My name is Gary and I am watching your TH-cam channel on my Mother's log in on TH-cam and I am not Elizabeth by the way. You make me happy to learn and watch. 😊😊😊😊😊 Stay Strong and keep up the perfect work you are doing.

Watch your work with interest Tanya... I am mostly a metal worker in New Zealand, a gun smith actually, but that also means woodwork on gun stocks and I find watching you work is informative and gives me ideas for some of the repairs I occasionally have to do on the stocks of guns that come to me.
I can only hope that the troubles in your country are resolved soon and that you can all live in peace. Blessings. 💗

Hi Tanya, I loved the tool improvisation whilst you were removing the neck and the truss rod. It looks so pristine when everything's finished. Remarkable job. I am one of the OCD ones who watched the whole video! On the side note at 46:59 you looked like you were having a smokey fart which woke up the 33 year old child in me and I laughed out. Love the videos!

That little "YAY!" you let out when you got the fretboard moving up and off was delightful to hear! This was an impressive feat of work in this video and you made that bass look good as new afterwards, which makes it even more impressive. Great work, Miss Tanya!

I love how you keep putting your hand on the hot neck....I do stuff like that all the time :) Great work BTW.

Well, I'm half way through, and I have to go to bed. I'll tune in again tomorrow to find out what happens in the end! This is a real epic job, and you're doing fantastically so far. I love the attention to detail of putting in a whole new strip of wood just so you could route it out again! (And don't worry about the idiot scammers - you're not the only channel they "live" on. I just ignore them.)

those vintage style basses are great to play but they are a hell of conception...one piece neck through, it will obviously bend one day and either you throw it away or you have to find someone to struggle like you did here so nicely. I have seen so mutch bass guitars unplayablefor that reason that it was a special pleaure to watch this.
well done ! it's always great to see your work

I love building and working on stringed instruments, but I'll never be able to do it at this level. I learn so much from these vids. Thanks

Beautiful work Tanya, apparently that took quite some time and effort, bravo! Slava Ukraini from the USA!

That was certainly a herculean task. I was exhausted while watching. I was also erminded of my old days having a few hours to finish such a project. As always, the work was first rate. I hope you at least told the owner of this instrument that refinishing might have to be performed once the fingerboard is replaced. I just want you to be compensated for the intensive labor that is always a hazard when removing a truss rod, and then modifying a replacement. I'm happy to see you have steady business in 2024. It was a joy to watch. Glory To Ukraine!

    I just found your channel!
I absolutely LOVE learning how to be a luthier, or "stringed-instrument repair person" (since i probably won't be building any from scratch).
I love learning from you, Tanya.
I can't believe that truss rod was glued in that way. Seems like it would defeat rhe purpose.
Maybe whomever at the Gibson factory thought its only purpose was to "stiffen" the neck, lol.
    Anyway, good job!
    Thanks for posting the videos!
24:33 i see how you drilled the hole through the cut for the fret wire, so you could glue the fretboard back in the exact position. I would've thought you'd do this before ever removing the ftretboard.
I'm confused by a couple of things that seem out of sequence:
Ok, i watched you remove the old truss rod, then you routed out the groove. Why I'm confused is, why did you glue a piece of wood in the groove, shave it down flat with the surface, including scraping it, then proceed to route it out again?
After that, the sequence seemed to be correct, where you put in a new truss rod, glued a piece of wood in the groove over it, then filed, chiseled, shaved, scraped and sanded it down flush before gluing the fretboard back.
Could you either narrate in future, or put text in to explain in future?
    Thank you!

The variation and assortment of tools needed for this professional is job is amazing, a labor of love for an instrument . I have a vintage Gretsch acoustic ,; after watching this I guess replacing the truss rod on it which is maxed out and broken is out of the question for what it would cost to have it done.

Scary memory. 24.00 reminds me of when i built my neck-thru guitar. I used a small nail to locate the fretboard on the neck. When i rasped out the neck radius i had uncovered the hole from the nail. Nothing a toothpick cant fix. Nice work btw!
