Be prepared for Very Bad News if you forgot your pin pattern or password for your Nokia X100.
Nokia does not provide a way to factory reset or hard reset the Nokia X100 with the external buttons.
If you need your phone, you will need to remember your pin pattern or passwordl.
I have reached out to Nokia for an answer and they have not responded to me.

As of right now, there is no other way. I am trying to get official word for Nokia asking if there is another way with external buttons. Will post something up if they answer me.

Well I set a lock pattern and can't get into the menu at all

Ooof. That is tough. Nokia does not have an external (button) factory reset. There is no hack. There is no bypass. You HAVE to remember your pattern or else the phone is useless. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
