I have never seen a person be so upset with his $1000 phone not breaking
😂💔💔😂😂💔
That's the calmest "upset" I have ever seen..
Would be interesting to see if a small scratch creates enough of a stress concentration for that screen to catastrophically break. Even just a Level 6...
Super agree.

That cracked me laughing
You can't help but hear the tiniest bit of disappointment in Zach's voice when it survived the test. 😂
Lol noted that immediately
Yeah every time he said nice work Motorola you can feel a bit of let down lol
Like seriously he was so disappointed
We all crave a little drama lol.
Especially when he says "Carnage doesn't always happen"
Imagine the pressure that the Motorola team had experience while watching this video....
less than what he applied to the screen
Same as a lock company watching a lockpicking lawyer video
I think they were feeling 200% pressure.
They can feel scratches at level 6 with deeper grooves at 7.
They probably don't even know this channel exists
Hey Zach, My dad works with Motorola and after your video was published an immediate meeting was called to solve this issue. It was never mentioned what new thing they have implemented but I think you should check if the void is still there or if is it plugged with something to support the screen better.
So how can I get my money back?
what's your dad's core ID?
your dad sharing this with you is one thing, but I guess he forgot to mention that this was confidential corporate information not to be shared with the world or does your dad not work there anymore?

You do so much to not only satisfy our curiosity about these devices, but also settle worries like this.. thank you so much for your service 🙏

I think you should take that one apart to see if there is a void in that
Agree 💯.
But If im ever gonna buy this phone, im gonna choose the color red just to be sure 😅
Already done that, mate
@@apocaliche meant that specific piece in case they changed the manufacturing by now
@apocalic I know, however I think it would be good to know if the void was filled in or not. Jerry wasn't able to break it this time, why is that? Why did the other phone screen break, if the same amount of force was applied??
At 3:05 he says he can feel it bending inwards, so the void is still in there
I think from a durability standpoint, keeping people on the outside screen for longer will protect the inside screen more!
Amazing insight.
Keeping people on the outside, indeed🧐
Sort of odd that the way to increase durability on a foldable phone is by making people use the feature that makes the phone so expensive less.
@@dirkdanger9688 I'm just waiting for someone to make a hingeless foldable with no inner screen, then I might get one. Outer screen all the way.

I am actually really happy to see that you came back to this. I was worried that I was the only one curiousto see if this would withstand a 50% Zach thumb press.
Still loving this phone...glad to see it continues to survive your testing.
I hold my breath during the whole process 😂
Ya me too being a moto G82 user and since the phone is so great also a moto fanboy :')
Thank GOD it survived this test. I ordered one literally the day before you broke the crap out of the other one lol. I feel some better now. I am excited for this phone but am conscious of the void behind the front screen. I am usual particular about all my electronic devices anyway so hopefully I do a good job protecting this device when it comes in today.
You don’t put it in a place where the metal body can flex with the glass. That’s why it broke.
Moto phones are great. Hope you enjoy the gestures, at least the double chop for flashlight. It's awesome.
How is it holding up 4 months later?
@@joshspurgeon5369 going strong! Not one issue! I hope I'm not knocking on wood tho lol.
@@joshspurgeon5369 the phone is doing great! Love it.
Glad you did this, I was scared I had an issue lying in wait.
Okay, whew, so it isn't super absurdly weak. It's relatively good. If you press right at the edge is where it's more likely to break but any screen breaks by that kind of pressure that close to the edges.
i think to really get to know we have to see a test where you try this with a hundred phones, just to be valid

Great informative video! Especially since it was inspired by certain individuals complaints. These are the type of videos we need! Thanks Zack!
Well, thanks for doing this video!! After you're first video I was a bit worried that mine would break with slight pressure. Now I know that was most likely a perfect storm of pressures and bending. Thanks!
I know you don't like replacing your devices when they're not dead, but I'd love to see you switch over to this phone as your daily driver and keep us updated how it fairs under your normal usage. I love the idea of these things but want to know how they hold up long term with normal non-babied use before I get one.
Thanks for the video. I was planning to get one on these
The opening of the video really aged like fine milk
0:33 Ok, that reference was godly.
Wonderful job. These foldable smartphones are amazing.
I would like to see the durability test expand a tad by using a tool with exact pressure readings to see what the tolerances are for these devices in precarious situations.
The little rhyme at the beginning earned 👍👍👍 my for sure 😂
Thank you for making this follow up video. I have a RAZR plus and was worried after your first video.
Glad it survived, but curious to see how it holds up and if more cases will appear.
"And now I'm going to send this phone to that commenter because I completely destroyed any remaining shred of a chance to get a warranty claim."
The original Razr phones had a well known issue with the hinges randomly breaking and they never did anything about it. My dad had two different ones fall apart on him. Both were well under a year old and for reference he is an electrical engineer so he isn't rough on phones and has never had another broken phone before or since then.
Love the level of the curiosity
This man has such control of his body he knows exactly how much force percentage he uses 😮
The LTT knife mention aged well....
Can’t wait for the teardown!
Great to see this follow up. I was worried about anyone with a razr.
In. 3:00 . You would wonder how did he measure the pressure,
He did use a tool called thumbometer, its more accurate then the real tool 😂😂
I wonder if the glass is weaker when the hinge is in the open position
For a follow up video. Place the phone on a cooking scale and give actual values of pressure and finally what kind of pressure does eventually crack it.
I was waiting for the followup vid and there it is!
Lmao that disappointment in his voice 😂😂
He really wanted it to break into *razr* sharp pieces..
Just curious do you think there might be a difference in durability depending on the use of the phone? By that I mean if you were doing some heavy task that heats the device up and then did this would it be just as reliable?
Good work Zack love your reviews buddy
Thanx for the fair test. Loved it.
Happy to see it survive but the void still needs to be addressed.
This is the very first time when he didn't actually want the phone to crack. Congratulations on your first foldable 🎉
I really appreciate your honest review, it's just one video that proves me to trust you as TH-cam creator, nice work❤
Honestly this was an awesome test because ever since the bend test I've been curious to see if it could just happen randomly on a phone that's just in the pocket
I can't believe it didn't crack!
I was SO tempted to go to a carrier store and try that, however not willing to risk slicing up my thumbs. XD
After watching your video almost all the offline stores having box packed phones recalled without any notification (FOR SYSTEM UPDATE) few days ago. And might be they replaced the initial units by the newer chassis. Bcuz they told the shop owner that the IMEI might get changed but the Colour (Varient & Storage) will kept same. Its no problem thing with the shop owner as the phone was Booking (While under the so called UPDATE process)
These videos have come a long way. I used to watch your videos all the time and still do, The some of the titles have gotten a little clickbaity but hey the videos aren't obscenely long and get to the point, and the content as usual is pretty great.
This has got to be the calmest Jerry Rig video I've watched. The only thing that was broken was that decompostable envelope.
I could hear the disappointment in his voice because it didn't break
It could be very small scratches on that outer display that could replicate this problem.
Hope all is well, love your channel. Love your videos gotta wonder though. When are you gonna be doing a durability test on the Z Flip 5?
Jerry seems like such a chill dude tbh, bro def in my dream blunt rotation
Can you durability test the Nubia Z50 Ultra please.
Not exactly force, but pressure, will break the glass. Plus you need to apply the force at the centre of the void for maximum effect.
I guess during the bend test, Zach's thumb was closer to the edge of the glass, where the void actually is. Also, only the very tip of his thumb was making contact so the pressure was much higher.
It likely has to do with surface area / pressure. If the phone gets put into a pocket or a bag with other items such as pens, keys etc. then I could see a small amount of pressure directed at the spot of the cavity causing the screen to crack. Hopefully Jerry can perform this test again with a few house hold items.
look up confirmation bias...his finger is going to apply way more pressure than a pen, keys etc...
Yeah, the test here didn't feel thorough enough. I'm all for phones being durable, but I think it'd be worthwhile to test just how much force it would take to break it if the finger test doesn't do the job. (But I do get that breaking multiple of these expensive phones for testing is not an appealing concept)
Checking under the screen for the size of the void on this phone would also be a good bit of due diligence, in case the void size varies from device to device.
if screen will crack with that
Well if a sharp object makes immense pressure at that point it obviuosly will fail and it is a weak spot but its not failing with pure normal use and thats the point here.
He tested if the glass is going to break under the force and leverage over it's own components (frame edge etc.).
If you were to pierce it with an object sharp enough to shatter the glass, that would apply to any area, cavity or not.
Zach has probably a bit more finger strength than most of us, so I would declare this as a pass.
Since the test is complete, I will be happy to receive that phone .. 😁
thankyou.
That transition was clean. Mans spits bars.
It might have passed the initial test, but with long term pressure on and off, it could weaken and crack eventually. Would be interested to see how many cycles of pressing it takes for this to occur.
The fact that he bought another phone to prove it and admitted his error during the teardown makes him the best and most transparent tech youtuber.. ❤
Amazing Zach!
Linus is great at blowing wind! love you for making that lil shoutout. LOVE YOU TOO LINUS
In the recent days, I started considering a switch to a Z Flip 5. However, I realized that I do like indoor climbing and that equals chalk that could get into the hinge and cause some issue, which is why (among few other reasons) I dropped this idea. I also realized that there are no resources I could find about chalk vs flip phone hinge.
As I believe that there are a bunch of people who are into climbing, crossfit, powerlifting etc and would use chalk in their training, that would be amazing if you could include it into your durability test :)
He did a test previous video on this phone with sand and it didn't seem to affect the phone.
@@iaincowell9747 that's true, but sand has a different grain size and texture than chalk, that is finer and sticks to your DNA. Of course, if you drop a phone to the bag full of chalk, it'd cause problems, but would chalky hands or occasional sprinkle of chalk cause any damage to a hinge?
Linus tech tips knife.... OOF
Excellent content as always!
You do share some similarities with Linus... you both professionally break things
I think you had your thumb in the wrong place during this test. The void seems to be right near the metal bezal near the hing. If you rewatch the first durability test video, you'll see you had your thumb partly on that metal bezel, with the center of your finger directly over the void slightly back from where the glass and metal meet. Should try it again and see if it happens. Looked like you were too close to the center of the screen here and not directly over the void like you were before.
I was thinking the same thing he doesn't even go for a press near the edge of the screen which bugs me a little bit. Wonder if he received a message from Motorola telling him to do another video but not pushing on the void... interesting
It is the first time that I see a video of him that did not destroy a smart phone and a tear fell from my eyes.
Love how determined you are lol
Try pressing a key ring into the void area and see if that breaks it with less pressure. Fingertips are very malleable so you spread that force out over a wide area. Imagine keys in your pocket and the key ring or even a key itself is against that spot in your pockets and you bend over for something. The metal has no give, all the pressure is concentrated.
he did break it with a finger before. Obviously this screen *is* weaker than others thou..
At that point, that would cause damage to any screen.. that also wasn't part of the problem the woman said she had, so.. kind of irrelevant
Who carries sharp objects in the same pocket as their phone? That's just dumb.
Anyone who carries their phone and keys in the same pocket deserves their phone breaking.
@@han5vk Any woman with a purse?
My suspicion with the first one, is grains of sand in gap between the glass and metal by the hinge. Tempered glass is weaker at the edges, and maybe pressing those grains into the glass via the bend is what caused it to crack?
Love your videos Jerry, btw you look like agent 47 in the hitman series XD
That red unit looks GORGEOUS. Reminds me of my red OG Razr from back in the day!
what is your brand on the cuter ?
i wonder if a smaller point of pressure would do it like keys or something
i literally insta subscribed because of that tloz reference, keep the good work my man
I almost thought it was going to break but am glad it didn't as I do own one of these beautiful phones and am still in the over protective mode while using it, lol. Thanks Jerry 🙂
Motorola reps were friggin sweating that test lol there stock almost took a dive .
This felt like someone form Motorola was off screen pointing a gun at him.
LOVE The level of enthusiasm
These are the only adds I like to watch
Nobody should be surprised. It comes as advertised, because this phone isn't only a flip phone, but it also turns into a razr with a single push. Quite the next-level feature development if you ask me. Just not a realible function, apparently, because only some phones will do this.
underrated comment
this video was a schrödinger's cat for motorola. If it breaks, bad bad press. If it doesn't, good press.
That's very nice of you to go thru this to confirm. i will never buy one, but thank you for your service sir !
I had the moto razer plus for a month before going back to my iPhone and zero issues. Dropped it and no problems and the girl with the skirt must have had a defect. I dropped it on hard tile and no issues. So who knows.
Shouldn't you be pressing higher? In the black part. With the highest pressures you're not pressing at that spot. The spot it cracks at.
Very nice, this show thay this channel is serious and honest about the subject. 👏👏👏
I've bought one of those clear knives like a year ago or so. I love it.
Although it won't break, but it will be worn by someone who uses it. Jerry uses it, or ordinary mortals 😂😂😂
Open it up and see if there is a difference. Perhaps they discovered a problem and put a filler there.
