That's because Fantine, mostly, is not sang by Sopranos. That's why she sounds "sharp." Fantine is played by mezzo sopranos, which is why we're used to lower/deeper/darker voices with her. Wish I could actually see the performance, bet it'd be just as amazing and mesmerizing as Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again was. Whoo, so much passion. Go, Sierra!
Not sure if it's more about Sierra's voice or about the fact that my job is to take care of today's Fantines, but this turned me into a tiny handful of shivers indeed.
I really think Sierra is a great portrayal of Fantine because Fantine is supposed to only be 25 and many women who play Fantine are way too old to play her. but Sierra has so much youth to her. beautiful
Fantine's life is what would turn out for Christine if Raoul ever discovered that her child was the Phantom's, so he abandoned them and ended up in slums.
love this version. i got goosebumps and cried when she started singing ...but the tigers come at night.... it was very good&emotional to watch her perform at the theatre. the guy who played javert was very amazing as well. he performed stars beautifully.
Considering that I'm reading the book right now and understand fantine' story so much more, I'm getting more emotional that I thought I would during this song.
I personally love her as Fantine. She's got the look and the talent and I don't think her acting is too forced. I mean, it's better to have forced acting than none at all...especially during this song
I love the versatility of her voice! She has a different style for every role I've ever seen/heard her sing, and it's always wonderful. Thanks for posting!
Completely ignoring the fact that I am already a Sierra Boggess fan, this is the absolute BEST performance of this song I have ever heard. The fact that she can sing legit and belt to this magnitude just blows me away. You can just HEAR the passion and power in her voice. Stunning!!!
Sierra Boggess is, quite simply, one of the great talents of our time. Her performance in "Phantom of the Opera" remains one of the best ever and this song from "Les Miserables" sends chills down one's spine! Makes me proud to be an American; she is really an American Treasure.
Saw her perform this a few weeks ago! She was so amazing, her lower notes have developed quite a lot since this performance. Made me cry like anything, it was so beautiful.
I just saw Les Mis earlier this evening!!! It was freaking amazing!!! I loved it so much!!! I wish so many people wouldn't compare Sierra to Anne though! Because while, yes they are both amazing singers ad both portray the song very well and the way it's meant to be, 1.You can never compare stage to screen as many people have said because they are two very different dimensions. 2. You can also NEVER compare an actress who's singing the song LIVE on stage with one who went in a studio
I saw her in London's West End as Fantine and you have to to see her act it to make an opinion as she played it sooo well!!! Got her autograph at the stage door and she was so nice as well!!
I find it funny how much I have in common with with Sierra. We have the same name, a sister named Summer, and an obsession with Barbra Streisand. It's awesome.
This is so good and she is so talented. Just to show you how talented and professional she really is... Her microphone wasn't working and there was a technical hitch while she was playing Fantine. Even with that she continued and proved she didn't need no mic to be heard. She was heard thought the queens theatre!!!!!!!! 💙💜💚❤💛 she is amazing an I hope to meet her one day!!!!😄😍
The Queens Theatre is where Les Misérables is and sadly Ramin left before Sierra came. So did Hadley Fraser - he departed from his role as Javert beforehand as well. I think those three are one of the West Ends best teams and it would be awesome if they could all be in this show together. If you're thinking about going to see it soon, I haven't seen the most recent cast (yet), but Craig Mathers is still there and he is a fantastic Marius! :)
I kind of wish people would stop telling others to stop giving their opinions. Analyzing performances is part of what helps me to enjoy them, and I love reading others because it gives me new things to think and learn about. Of course I appreciate their work and talent, but that doesn't mean I'm going to mindlessly enjoy everyone in every role they ever do.
I don't hate Anne, I just think people overreact on praising her performance. Sierra, Lea and even Susan Boyle perform this song a billion times better than Anne.
One of her first roles, if not her first, was actually as an understudy for Cosette in the US tournée of Les Mis. You can find "In My Life/A Heart Full of Love" here on youtube.
She was great as always and was amazing. Sierra Boggess is amazing as well I'm in love with her right now. I did in phantom of the opera as christene and she makes a food Fontaine as well. She is talented as the other passed actresses wo played Fontaine. No more hating on these people I'd like to see you do what they do
Sierra is for me the best voice ever... i just love her! Have you seen her in the reprise of "part of your world"? (The little Mermaid Broadway). She's wonderful in all performances... She's God!
"I dreamed that love would never die."
Christine...Christine... love never dies.
Despite crying a little, I couldn't help but smile a bit at the line, "I dreamed that love would never die".
same, love never dies
**cough cough** pHanTOm **cough cough**
@@kirascontent yep ikr.
I always thought about that 😂
Sierra has more talent in the tip of her little finger than I have in my whole body.
Sierra does have great talent, but please don't put yourself down because of it. You are enough!
+Eliza Estabrook thank you! :)
Lauren Eden :) Such a simple quote but with such power.
How the HELL has she got this insane chest voice, AND crazy good head voice notes? This is not fair! Brava Sierra, you goddess.
listening to Sierra and Ramin singing "I dreamed the love would never die" is so awkward but so funny at the same time...
Go, Sierra!
I thought Sierra was a mezzo, but I agree that her voice is not the best fit.
@@egonescio9017 no she’s a soprano, just a very developed chest voice
Not sure if it's more about Sierra's voice or about the fact that my job is to take care of today's Fantines, but this turned me into a tiny handful of shivers indeed.
What's your job ?
I’m playing cosette in Les miserable concert at my new house in January 2023
I really think Sierra is a great portrayal of Fantine because Fantine is supposed to only be 25 and many women who play Fantine are way too old to play her. but Sierra has so much youth to her. beautiful
I can see her sing this about the Phantom... it's so good!!! :')
I love Sierra Boggess!
Fantine's life is what would turn out for Christine if Raoul ever discovered that her child was the Phantom's, so he abandoned them and ended up in slums.
despite the audio quality.... i'm bawling my eyes out.... Sierra is truly amazing
"I dreamed that LOVE WOULD NEVER DIE!"
Wow deja-vu
From 'And in a bed!' to 'I dreamed a dream'
What's the reference to this?
Sierra is just perfect!
I AM SO HAPPY THIS EXISTS,!! I love her voice
The emotional dedication anne gave to her performance WAS something worth praising. As an actress that is not an easy thing to do.
I base who's good at singing this song on the note they hit when they sing the "sha-a-a-ame" and the way they sing "hell I'm living"
I'm speechless! I love this woman she is an amazing actress! Every role she has gotten fits her perfectly!
Got Goose bumps! Sierra rules!
love this version. i got goosebumps and cried when she started singing ...but the tigers come at night.... it was very good&emotional to watch her perform at the theatre. the guy who played javert was very amazing as well. he performed stars beautifully.
It's amazing to see Sierra go from the Ensemble and understudy Cosette on the National Tour and now playing Fantine at the Queen's!!!
Her belt brings me to tears.
Considering that I'm reading the book right now and understand fantine' story so much more, I'm getting more emotional that I thought I would during this song.
She's one of my favorite Fantines and Christines
Can her, Lea, and Ruthie do this in a trio? Or would the world explode from so much awesome?
I still think she did this flawlessly.
When I went to see her I swear I nearly had a breakdown as soon as she entered the stage!! Such talent!!!
Completely ignoring the fact that I am already a Sierra Boggess fan, this is the absolute BEST performance of this song I have ever heard. The fact that she can sing legit and belt to this magnitude just blows me away. You can just HEAR the passion and power in her voice. Stunning!!!

she has a beautiful voice
Lol at people who are saying she's out of tune. She has perfect pitch.
I really think that Sierra will go down in history as one of the greats. What an incredible, clear voice and amazing range she has!
She is the best singer ever. I absolutely love her.... definitely my role model.
i am so lucky to have seen her!!! she is AMAZING such an inspiration too!!!
Stunning voice!! I wish I can not only hear the sound but also the video! Love her passion and the lovely act!
I get goosebumps every time I hear her sing. She is just brilliant.
A lot of people didn't think fantine was a good role for Sierra. But I think she was amazing.
I had the honor to hear her as Fantine last year, she was amazing!!
Saw her perform this a few weeks ago! She was so amazing, her lower notes have developed quite a lot since this performance. Made me cry like anything, it was so beautiful.
Thumbs up if you want Sierra to be the next Anniversary version's Fantine!!!
I just saw Les Mis earlier this evening!!! It was freaking amazing!!! I loved it so much!!! I wish so many people wouldn't compare Sierra to Anne though! BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS EVERYWHERE! Thankyou! she's fantastic, as I expected :D
Saw Les Mis last week & she was superb. Sierra is simply the BEST!!
Seriously cannot wait for the movie, ill bring my tissue box and just applaud and cry
OMG, a musical with all three of them together. AHHHHHHHHH! The mere thought gives me chills.
WOW i love Seirra in everything i have seen and heard her in. this was awesome!
I wanna hear her in At The End of the Day!!!
Love this version, Sierra Boggess does it justice, her voice is just pure gold
I saw her in London's West End as Fantine and you have to to see her act it to make an opinion as she played it sooo well!!!
Got her autograph at the stage door and she was so nice as well!!
wow. this is just wow.
Tears. Everywhere.
I definitely agree!!!! That would be just so heavenly!
Oh. My. God. CHILLS. MAJOR FREAKY AWESOME CHILLS.

Chills. Chills everywhere. Sierra is... a goddess.
She understudied Cosette on the US tour a while back! And as already stated she's playing Fantine! lol awks x
She's soooo good in this role

Amazing as always! I love Sierra's voice!
Fair enough; to each his/her own. Thank you for answering and giving a reason! I appreciate hearing other people's opinions.
Omg this was amazing!!! She is soooo amazing!!!
I cried. Beautiful!
Yes, definitely!!
YES! MOST DEFINITELY!

it's made me cry. love from Hungary
Holy crap, major goosebumps over here...
I don't hate Anne, I just think people overreact on praising her performance. Sierra, Lea and even Susan Boyle perform this song a billion times better than Anne.
The massive issue I have with the movie is that all the actors put over dramatic acting over the singing and the music suffered
She was brilliant lovely voice :)
I couldn't have said it better myself. Exactly my thoughts!
I love her oh so much. So beautiful
She is just absolute perfection. Thankyou for posting this!
Amazing
Beautiful.
Seriously, after listening to her beautiful version i can't listen to it sung by anyone else! Gahhh, why s she so perfect?
very powerful
Sierra is amazing in every single part she sings. I want to be an actress just like her and am working on my singing voice.
she´s..she´s...aaah she´s amazing !!!
Amazing!!
Amazingly sung. Wow.
god this was just amazing

She's one of my heroes :)
SO MUCH TALENT
Gorgeous ❤️
A physical release must be done 🙏🏽
Es la belleza hecha en voz
Such a beautiful performance. I wasn't the biggest fan of her Christine, but I really like her in this role! :)
She is so talented
She was great as always and was amazing. Sierra Boggess is amazing as well I'm in love with her right now. I did in phantom of the opera as christene and she makes a food Fontaine as well.
