Sorry to disagree, but this song was done in a recording studio where they greatly alter the vocals and instrumentals to make them cohesive and pleasing to the ear. A true unaltered performance would likely be pretty underwhelming.
@@101jhurtado well in short I believe that God uses people first of all. I seen Phil at a small concert in 2005 a time in my life where I had many spiritual battles going on in my life. I didn’t know of him and had never heard of him. He actually opened up for Shane and Shane and Shawn McDonald. The first song was Grace. He had the most beautiful voice and a continuance of an angle. I mean that. I have never experienced anything like that before. I say all that without getting super mystical about it. God uses people. To fast forward a bit his music became a staple in my daily listening as I play guitar and love to listen to music anyways! The lyrics in his songs especially the B side songs paint the most beautiful picture of Gods love, mercy, and our worship to Christ. To say it plainly his lyrics are most biblical. I have had the pleasure to meet Phil after a number of shows, he is very humble and a kind person. With saying all that I know he is a man just like I am and I fail daily as a sinner. Lord help me. So I don’t lift him up on a pedestal on any scale of worship, just simply as someone that I believe God has used in my life as the Lord uses people. Let us pray for on another as I need help daily! Thanks for asking to hear from me and I hope this answers your question!
llamasorus I'm sure that knowingly taking someone's post the wrong way and publicly admonishing them for it falls under the definition of edification, too...
Jason Daniel I didn't take it the wrong way. Hell's an actual reality and people actually go there. Not something we should joke about. We are told to avoid foolish joking in Ephesians man.
Jason Daniel Man, you're making fun of a brother in Christ because I was concerned for the way we speak to one another. And I see you +1'd your own comment by the way ;)
Sound theology thick as jelly, wrapped in an unusual poetic lyric and a catchy melody, paired with suberb guitar skills, a powerful voice and hardly containable emotion. Another Phil Wickham masterpiece.
I enjoy the many biblical references in this song but I feel like I'm missing a few. Could you please help me understand what he's referring to in these two sections? I suspect it's more than poetic licence. "I can hardly wait Until you carry my soul Carry my soul away" (Chorus) "...and watch my feet lift off the ground" (Verse 1)
This song was played at my dad's funeral. The words are so touching and deep. Everytime I hear it, I picture my sweet dad running into the arms of our Lord and Saviour. Phil Wickam's voice is perfection!
God's timing is always perfect. For the last couple nights I have been losing sleep over fear of dying and eternity. Three minutes ago I was overwhelmed by fear and anxiety when I found this song by good ol' Phil. And now for the first time I'm understanding the joy and wonderfulness that will be living with God in his glory and experiencing his full delight every day. God's timing is perfect, and this song is exactly what I needed. Thank you Phil.
Madison Shepard I have that same fear, and your absolutely right. Satin wants us to fear Gods gift, but the thing is that Gods timing is perfect(btw I love how you used that phrase). I realize eternity's as good as his love
I found this song after my brother died from skin cancer 14 years after a bone marrow transplant for leukemia. The words about his resurrected skin really fit my brother for the top of his head was slowly eaten away that we could se his skull. He also had wounds all over his body almost like Christ scourged. I wish I could see him now but will live my mission spreading the good news of our maker. God bless all
I have loved this song for many years and I just realized a couple weeks ago that he is singing about the rapture. Thank you Phil Wickham for sharing your beautiful voice and for pointing us to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Thank you Lord Jesus Christ for shedding your innocent blood on the cross for our sins. You came to earth wrapped in flesh to put an end to the Law of Moses and wash us clean of ours sins! Now we are saved by grace through faith and not by our works! Hallelujah! Praise our Lord Jesus Christ!
@Huntley0326 It is a great song. Its based on the scripture in 1Thessalonians 4. The second coming of Christ. As for the rapture...now that's a different topic alltogether...interestingly not even mentioned in the Bible. If you like to study the Bible and would like to learn the difference between the second coming and the rapture (there is a very big and important difference), then you can tag me here. I'd love to share with you...and anyone else reading this.
I wanna hear You say well done I wanna be welcomed in I wanna feel Your love like sunshine on my resurrected skin. I wanna hear the music play I wanna hear the trumpets sound I wanna hear You call my name And watch my feet lift off the ground I will run, oh and I won't quit Chasing Your heart, just like David did I'll coming running through the gates, looking to Your face Oh I can hardly wait! Until You carry my soul, carry my soul away When everything is said and done And death has met its end I wanna hear You call me son Be counted as a faithful friend I wanna see You rise like fire I wanna see the scars that bled Oh, won't you take me higher, the place where angels fear to tread? And I will run, Lord and I won't quit Chasing Your heart, just like David did I'll coming running through the gates, looking to Your face Oh, I can hardly wait! Until You carry my soul, carry my soul away And I will keep my lamplight burning in the night I'll be waiting here for You, watching for all Your signs If I may be so bold to ask You: would You lend Your ear to me? Oh, Lord, come quickly And I will run, Lord and I won't quit Chasing Your heart, just like David did I'll coming running through the gates , looking to Your face Oh I can hardly wait! Until You carry my soul, carry my soul away! Carry my soul...
I haven't heard this song in a long time but for whatever reason, I woke up singing it. Couldn't remember the name of song but found it by searching on resurrected skin.
1 Chronicles 29:10-11 Blessed be Thou, Amen Thine, O Lord, is the Greatness and the Power, and the Glory, and the Majesty. Amen David James West, a Christian man
This man sings with so much passion.. I love .. absolutely love his unplugged versions. This song is such an encouragement to me ... such a powerful reminder of our great hope of spending an eternity with the Lord Jesus.
and the woman was very beautiful to look upon, Amen I love those words God chose to describe her, that was how I felt. David James West, a Christian man
I agree with most people here, what voice sounds just like the album. Eyes like fire like in Revelation, so much scripture, so much love, the imminence of God's return, the hope. All in this song. Speechless.
The song of my heart! My heart praises you Jesus! You picked me up when I was confused. You saved me and now You have a home in my heart, and my home is in Heaven, next to you my Lord. Thank you Father, Thank you Lord, Thank you Holy Spirit. Amen.
Saw him play it live with his original lineup in Anaheim during the time Children of God album. I also met him at a running store a few months earlier. Solid musician for the Lord!
So beautiful...I love the way Phil and his guitar seem like one instrument. They work together so well. I imagine that's how David was with his harp. Such deep, full worship. Praise God!
Phil Wickham is truely a talented singer that has been given a gift of worship by God and only God himself!! I love phil wickham's songs because it is truely amazing and how beautiful the lyrics are to my hears haha :D I pray that phil will continue to serve the Lord our God so that the people of this nation who do not believe will hear God through his songs. Amen
For those wondering about tuning/his guitar sound, it's even more than just drop D, he is in DADGAD (instead of EADGBE, or standard drop D DADGBE) tuning and dropped a further half step. So the strings are C#G#C#F#G#C#, which opens up the low end and gives those unique open/slide chords that you don't hear when guitars are tuned to standard tuning.
"For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known." 1 Cor 13:12 Oh I can hardly wait...
Phil Wickham! Truly an annointed singer! Had the opportunity to hear him live and he sounds exactly the same as in his albums- awesome! Song is about the Rapture- super awesome!:) Thank you for this song!
If this doesn't Carry Your Soul Away, Then you've already gone!! Absolutely over the top & what an amazing gift. I was lucky enough to see him perform this live Tues., Dec. 10,2013 with Shane & Shane, no words could describe that performance. Thank You Lord.
MAN!! Phil Wickham is one of my favourite inspirations to Christian music guitar playing EVER! He has an anointing and a uniqueness on him that God uses to minister to the lives of God's people. Brother Phil Wickham, if you ever see this post, I just want to let you know that your music is a ministry all on its own. Keep up the God work and continue to see the goodness of God in this land of the living.- Psalm 27:13. Be blessed bro.
this is the kind of lyrics that only those so assured of salvation due to their intimate relationship with Jesus can say... such a confession-carry my soul :)
Gosh! Praise God for artists who listen to the sound of the Holy Spirit. I love Phil Whickam because his music translates his relationship with God and shares his testimony. Well done!

Phil, you are a God crush of my heart,,,,can't wait for what's coming next in your repertoire, brother musician...I've learned to crush on you lately....when you came out with this song...I love you brotha...you bring the Spirit back....
Such amazing talent. This is such a gorgeous song. I don't think I've ever heard a song that so accurately captures my heart and desire, longing for JESUS!!!
Phil Wickham doesn't need anything but his voice and a guitar to make beautiful music. He should make all of his albums with guitar and voice.
Your right! Luckily lately he does now! He makes lots of acoustic albums of his songs.
agree 100 percent
Sorry to disagree, but this song was done in a recording studio where they greatly alter the vocals and instrumentals to make them cohesive and pleasing to the ear. A true unaltered performance would likely be pretty underwhelming.

Who prefers the acoustic version over the studio album version? I LOVE the acoustic version. Darn you Phil and your amazing God given talent!
Why would you even jokingly wish damnation on Phil and his gift?
Like I understand you were joking but we should edify our brothers.
