Under appreciated aspect of the game...
While having a conversation on the phone if you're sitting/standing still or perched spidey's voice is normal, but if you're swinging while he's talking he sounds like he's laboring to talk.
It's the little things like that that make this one of the best games I've ever played.

This is definitely one of the very few Games where moving around "Normal" is way more fun than fast travel. VWOOOOSSHHHHH
The only reason I have to fast travel is when my fingers get tired and need to rest them for a while and also see Spider-man in the sub
I fast traveled just enough to get the trophy for doing so, and if I am doing side missions and want to get from district to district rapidly
lol i actually forgot a few times that there was fast travel.. I think i've only used it 1 time and that's when game prompted me to..

3:52 It's interesting that people think Spider-Man copied the Arkham games' fighting, but it's the exact opposide. Spider-Man 2 for PS2/XB had the exact same combat system in place as this game does, years before Arkham was considered for development. Batman copied Spider-Man, not the other way around.

It is my favorite Spidey story like, ever. And I've been accompanied by Spider-Man for my entire life. Just can't stop loving what Insomniac has done with the character and his universe. Hope we'll get a sequel soon

To be fair, Arkham's combat was so Spider-Man it even alerted you to danger with a Spider-Sense. They just did it for the wrong hero.
But spiderman's combat is much different than arkham and at spectacular difficulty is when you appreciate spidey's combat. You really have to think about how to proceed with the fight, using all your gadgets and upgrading. Also, there is no auto counter in spidey. You have to decide when its safe to counterattack. I love both gamed though and finished spiderman yesterday.
i think spiderman took the combat from batman and really impoved on it, showing the importance of airtime, dodge instead of counter to make fights more interesting since batmans counter was op, as well as spidermans webs made him much more long distance, i also like how stealth is optional, sure you can be stealty but no need to worry if you screw up, unlike batman spiderman can outmanouver gunmen. also the world itself feals so much alive by having civilians instead of the arkhams gang members everywhere approach

Spider-Man on the PS4's combat system was refined from Spider-Man 2, not Arkham. Spider-Man 2 already had the combos and dodging at the press of a button.

Something I was AMAZED by and something that definitely made it one of my favorite games was actually mundane by a lot of people's standards - the accessibility menu! It had so many options to make gaming comfortable and fun for folks of varied disabilities. As someone hard of hearing, being able to not only choose to put on subtitles, but making it so that they're big, readable, and high contrast made it so that I could enjoy the game at all! Thanks Insomniac for remembering your disabled/Deaf players!

truly one of the few games that I do not use the fast travel just because it is so enjoyable to swing around the city. Had no problem picking up all of the backpacks because it did not seem like a task just another side mission

A storyline where Spider-Man and Daredevil have to work together. Maybe letting you play short missions as Daredevil but mostly letting you work with him.
The camera is normal but the world on fire thing is the explanation for being able to scan a room and see the outlines of people behind walls.

I was absolutely amazed when I noticed that Peter's voice changes depending on whether he's swinging, fighting, running and climbing, or simply walking or being stationary somewhere.

They added in Miles and Black Cat, they had a ton of suits, they had a ton of Easter Eggs with certain suits and other things from the MCU and comics along with Easter eggs from things like even Ghost Busters, Jameson, nuff’ said, you can even pay respects to Uncle Ben in the game when going to the grave yard at the top left corner. We could all go on and on about this greatness!

Let me tell you how people are so wrong about visual downgrade. They did not downgrade AT all. I just realized this, if ya own a PS Pro and 4K TV. Active Boost mode in settings, You are welcome. It looks like the demo. 10/10
Stress_ Free_Rafy Boost Mode is mainly for games that aren’t Pro Enhanced. Spider-Man is, so Boost Mode doesn’t make any difference.
Jason Zak Boost Mode indeed made a difference when I activated it as I told a few of my friends with both Pro and 4K. They told me that they saw the slight, if not better change. It did enhanced some of the quality of the game and turned it better. Like the puddles the fucking idiots were complaining about. This confirms it all that there wasn’t a downgrade but a lighting change in the game. I noticed the difference when I didn’t have it activated
Bruhh boost mode doesn't remotely having anything to do with games graphics at all.
It's for older titles that don't have a patch for. All it does allow certain games load slightly faster and have more stable fps and no screen tearing etc etc.
If a game has a pro patch it will lock out boost mode...
Few people also think boost mode oddly "downgrades" the game when running it. Messing with the color scheme very slightly but this hasn't been proven yet at all.

When I first saw all the trailers for Spider-Man I was so excited and when I finally got to buy it and play it I didn't put the controller down. I did all the side stuff first and then did the main story when I had nothing left. I loved every second of the game except the DLC challenges (anyone whose played it knows what I am talking about 😡). Despite that it was an amazingly done game! Stealth isn't my kind of thing but this game makes it all so intense and rewarding when you actually complete it. Was 100% worth the money

Honestly, while Ultimate Spider-Man DID have some fantastic web slinging and combat system I still think Insomniac's Spider-Man does it better.

To be fair anchored web swinging barely made it into spiderman 2, since the developer's werent really focused towards physics of the game in that standpoint but they wanted desperately to hire someone into the game [Minds blank on the name] and he refused until they gave his idea a shot, so when they did it was a skeptical choice but by the time most people came to a conclusion of wanting anchoring removed they were too far into the game already to take it out

I really like doing the perch takedowns in stealth missions. So satisfying!

Great game, me and my bf went to New York for my birthday last year, and I was blown away by how similar it looked. Swinging around randomly realizing and saying "WEVE BEEN THERE!" One of the few games where I've actually enjoyed just webbing around the world.

The close up shots in cutscenes and even in photo mode are absolutely breathtaking. The amount of detail in all the suits is crazy. I love the visible weaving. And those close up shots of Otto’s face in that one cutscene. You can see all the pores in his face. I’ve never played a game this beautiful

The combat system in Spider-Man 2 is not nearly as good as the one in the Arkham games
Spider-Man 2 used a counter system, Arkham introduced the free flow combat. Where animations were designed to flow seamlessly between each other. Arkham appropriated Spider-Man’s counter, and Spider-Man appropriated Arkham free flow. Both putting obvious spins on their implementation
Anton, you're comparing a PS2 game to a PS3/Xbox 360 game. It would be more accurate to say that the Arkham games evolved on the formula laid out in Spider-Man 2. Plus, the emphasis on combos, the classic uppercut enemies into the air, and the spider-sense reflex system all come directly from Spider-Man 2. So Arkham innovates on the combat of Spider-Man 2, and Spider-Man 2018 innovates on the combat of the Arkham games while bringing back some essential elements from Spider-Man 2. This is what video games often do and it's the pattern of all technology to not just start from scratch but innovate and expand in small ways from previous iterations. That's why I find the whole Spider-Man is just copying Arkham argument a bit confusing.

Number 8) It is an actual replica of New York. Anyone could make a version of Gotham City as long as it has the memorable landmarks given it's a fictional city, but other than some Marvel-only locations in New York City, it's apparently a picture perfect replica

Something clever
Probably one of the only or part of a closed few, where I don't want to fast travel. I only used the subway to get the achievement. The web slinging in this game is so satisfying, when you watch the films you get that wonder, and Insomniac finally portray that into a video game formula that lets you fulfill that rush of slinging in between skyscrapers hundreds of feet in the air.

Forget swimming, you can straight up roll on top of water! (When you're in the water, jump and hit circle to dodge, and then after that dodge immediately start doing tricks, preferably the forward sommersault. Spidey will hit the water during the roll and won't stop, you can even move forward or just stay in one place to grind exp.

I'll reserve my opinions for when I actually get hands on for this game but Ultimate Spiderman will remain my favourite spiderman game...I mean.... YOU FIGHT WOLVERINE AS VENOM. Whats not to love about that? No spidy game will beat that.
I dunno, Spiderman: Web of Shadows did a pretty good job, and in a lot of the same ways. Those two are the only Spidey games I've played and they're both amazing
But it was Ultimate Venom. The failed cure for cancer that is constantly eating away at Brock's body, forcing him to feed on others to prolong his life version. That's no fun. It's like getting poisoned and forgetting to buy antidotes at the last town.
Tbh. I've beaten Spiderman ps4 already. The main thing about this game I'll say is that it feels like all the other open world Spidey games, except with more polish. They took a really safe route when they made this game.

Arkham's combat was actually based off of Spiderman 2. The idea of perfect dodging, freeflow, and Spidey-Sense type counter prompt originated in Spider-Man 2 and Rocksteady used it for Batman.
